Should i use the ammo that is bonused with my ship, or the ammo that does the most damage against the rat im killing?
IE - Angel Cartel are weak against Explosive damage types. If i use Scourge Rage my Tengu gets 605 DPS. With Nova Rage it drops under 500.
Also with the smaller frigate rats - Are the precision missiles better or Faction missiles? Even with a rigor catalyst it takes a long time for rage missiles to kill a frigate. Looked up...saw this F***ING clown dropping like a rock.-á Woke up in Vylade wondering what just happened!!! |

Fit 3x rigors. Use faction for frig rats. Post hml nerf, precisions are slightly better than faction on frig rats, but that's before taking rigors into account. Combined with reload time, it's not worth it to switch to precision. Fury suffer range issues and additional tracking issues post nerf, and does only slightly more dps than faction. Not worth it unless in BS heavy missions.
Use EM missiles on EM rats, kinetic on everything else. Standings Improvement Service https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=19454 |

It may sound silly, but what I use to do was to split my weapons up into two groups of equal launchers and load each group with a) scourge and b) missile based off of rat vulnerability and then fire both groups at a rat and go off of which did more damage. To my knowladge, it's still more worth it to use scourge over novas against Angels while in a tengu since the Tengu's kinetic damage bonus was untouched by the recent missile change, hence scourge from tengu's still does 25% dmg at max skill over novas both pre- and post-nerf. As far as tech2 vs faction missiles, I would use precisions against elite frigs (if they're close enough), furies against BS, and faction for anything else (and elite frigs well outside precision range). |

Elite Angels go down faster to explosive. Non-elite get kinetic. Sansha, Blood, and drones get EM. Everything else gets kinetic.
That's all assuming you have the full 25% bonus (and you should; it's a short train). But if not and you're only getting a 20% kinetic bonus, explosive wins against Angels.
In a Drake things get a bit odd now. Have a spreadsheet. Select the sheet that matches your kinetic bonus. Use the bolded damage type against the listed rat. |

just try it... bring a variety of ammo, experiment for 1 minute and you'll have your answer. |

Well, sure, that works. But why pass up a perfectly cromulent opportunity to build a spreadsheet? |

Generally, you'd want to do the math when it comes to damage types. Find a site like this (it may be outdated though), then figure it out. If, for example, you are 25% bonused for kinetic, but rats take 30% more damage from *insert damage type here* than from kinetic, then you'd better use that non-bonused damage type. |

I prefer chruker but whatever works. At any rate, a little spreadsheet-fu goes a long way on this stuff. |
