as a baseline for complete systems, view these US sites:
Frys.com is the website of an American no-frills electronics store that has good deals Microcenter is a franchised electronics store with more of a performance computer orientation than Frys Bensbargains.net is a "deals" aggregator site, great finds [H]ardOCP has a forum for deals Newegg is a more retail-ish site that has ~some~ deals EDM? you mean EFM | what did you just call me? |

If you want to build yourself a computer to play eve what you should look for is a intel core i5, 8gb of memory, Nvidia GTX660 or AMD 7850 graphics card or something something more powerful if you can afford it. You really cant go wrong with something like that unless you get a crap motherboard and/or power supply. Set Lasers for Fun!!! |

My sympathies though... UK online retailers tend to charge as much or more for components in -ú than NewEgg does in $, e.g. my $140 monitor is -ú155 on ebuyer.
VAT is 20% but even before that's included (and it is in the listed price) prices are still substantially more at the exchange rate. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZTzA_xesrL8 |

Dunno - does Overstock.com have an operation/outlet in the UK?
I've been pretty happy with my purchases through them. Tell someone you love them today, because life is short. But scream it at them in Esperanto, because life is also terrifying and confusing.

If you search for HOBO PC BUILDS ... you will find damn cheap puters there.
Anyone still has the cheapest hobo build ever picture? like 50$ for a working puter made on a recycled cardboard piece with spare parts ? Inner Sayings of BrujoLoco: http://eve-files.com/sig/brujoloco |

I just want to add that Tigerdirect might not be the best choice. I have a feeling that depending on volume, some distributors get better batches of products than other distributors with higher sales volumes.
also: rebates are a warning sign. from personal experience involving defective items and returns, I think juicy rebates indicate someone has decided on a cash amount that will counteract negative reviews.
sometimes rebates are from the manufacturer, sometimes from the distributor.......

Honestly, your best bet would be Dell.
I know a lot of people give them flak, but on a whole they're not too bad at all. I have had quite a few for a while and they never give me any issues.
A friend of mine plays EVE on the 660S with an Nvidia 620 GT and 6GB RAM. I think that set him back 400 for the tower on its own.
