And yes, I've been there. The system I generally rat in was camped out 3 nights this week and... OMG... I had to go one whole system to rat peacefully.
You want safety.... go to empire and mine. Actually, for many corporations and alliances, this IS a real problem, especially when you factor in the further change to anomalies by the security level of the space coming in odyssey. Many people aren't content with the pathetic 30 or 40m an hour you make in your cloaky t3. Some of us would rather feel like we achieved something with our time, other than raking in some change. That, and mining in 0.0 is safer than empire, depending on the region.

There is no counter to this other than to wait, bait and take a massive risk as there is never any intel on what gang floats on the other side of that cyno.
My suggestion is simple. People in alliance chat keep saying that a cloak is unbalanced, and that you should be able to detect it. I disagree as detecting cloaks defeats the purpose. What I suggest is that the cloak require a small amount of fuel, just enough to make it harder to float afk cloaked in a system.
Just a basic idea...thoughts?

IIRC there are only two kinds of ships that can lock right away after decloak. One of these is paper tanked and the other can't warp cloaked. I think that's pretty balanced as far as cloaky camping goes. |

Hands of my cov ops! That's my thought on this. With the lack of local, and the need for scouts, nerfing cloaks will seriously mess with WH life, and I like w-space the way it is (mostly).
As for 'we can't do anything when there's a cloaky in-system' - well don't bother coming to w-space is all I can say. |

I would erase the person from local overview and I would make skill for detecting a cloaked ships in system. But it would only tell you "Cloaking system device track detected in system"... or something like that but the person should be covered completly the local is really akward you can cloak yourship but you cant close communication channel ...

With the upcoming nuking of grav sites, why not make gravitational signatures cloaked ships?
Find them by scanning for their mass. Maybe requiring special probes or skills, or just simply not giving a warp-able signature beyond 'there's a cloaker around here'. **** |

Crikey!! There is someone in the system that I can't see, that can't lock me, that can't active their weapons...
What can I do??!!
Maybe I could accept the fact that they aren't going to do squat, and go about my business... Or use a jumpgate and move to the system next door for a little while...
Or third solution is to accept a slight gimp to income, plan for the attack, and defend yourself and your space...
The one thing you should never do is whine on the forums doesn't help you in the slightest... There is no such thing as a fair fight...
If your fighting fair you have automatically put yourself at a disadvantage. |

If he is afk, then move your miners and ratters next door. If he follows you then he's not afk. In which case set up a DPS heavy gate camp on the side he just came from and send your miners/ratters back. He gets caught, you kill him quickly. No hot-drop and no dead miners. Job done. I'm sorry to hear in your alliance chat people complain for having to deal with some risk while ratting and mining in null sec. Of course game mechanics for the rest of EVE players should adapt to your alliance chat complaints and fears.
Finally someone gets it! thank you, now as well as that i think that you should all give me titans and money :) |

Just a basic idea...thoughts? How is cloaking unbalanced?
But if you seriously want to nerf cloaks, then you also need to balance that with a nerf to the cause of AFKing. What do you suggest that should be? Malcanis for CSM 8. Destination SkillQueue:- It's like assuming the lions will ignore you in the savannah, if you're small, fat and look helpless. |

Why? If you have someone in local and chuck probes out you already know he's in a cloaked ship. No need to add a new mechanic. |
