I was looking through the map and been doing a lot of research into the universe, eventually I may want to consider lowsec moon mining, Yes I know that includes a corporation and standings which is why Im looking for a place to call home now.
I was looking at combat over time on the map and, at least to my eye, it looks like ammatar space seems pretty peaceful compared to everwhere else, that includes lowsec space and highsec...
Am I correct in saying that? Also do you know a better area then that to find? Ill try to make friendly with lowsec entities if possible, but I figure if I can find a semi deserted area that would be for the best.
Thanks. |

What exactly do you want to do with moon mining? If you are looking to make money off of the raw products good luck finding a free moon that makes more then fuel costs, they are a hard to find unless you wish to remove a tower from. Those towers are usually owned by null sec entities of residents of the area. If you wish to do something else on a useless moon you should be fine. Always willing to help all you have to do is ask, though if your in the other fleet I may not help the way you want. Just a heads up. |

1.) Good luck finding a moon that will gain you money instead of loosing it. Most proper moons are taken and will be defended. 2.) You don't need standings for low-sec towers. That makes me believe you aren't ready for it, do some more research. 3.) No place is peaceful, only less hostile. And just because high-sec doesn't have many ship-ship kills doesn't mean your POS will survive long. You do know that low-sec is capital ground and thus a POS isn't that hard to kill if you really want.

Moon mining is in need of some special attention IMO. It is a ton of tedious work that Ive seen burn out the most dedicated of EvE vets, let alone someone just starting out in the game. Like the others have posted most of the moons worth mining are owned either by strong low sec alliances or alts of null sec alliances. If you were around for the asaki incident, that whole mess was started over a moon. Unless you recruit alot of capital and super capital pilots to your corp your not going to hold a moon someone else wants.

Moon mining issues aside, yes, your DOTLAN research has served you well. Derelik is really surprisingly underpopulated considering its profitability. The question then becomes: do you want to do the sort of activities that can make Derelik profitable? |

Shoot for a couple POCOs (player owned customs offices) in a good hi/low border system. If you can take and keep those then look at valuable moons. Jumping in as a new player and looking at profitable moons is like going to the rodeo and saying "HEY I wanna ride that big shiny black bull with the sharp hooves"....try riding the calf first. |
