I've been playing eve for years but I've only just now decided to start looking into trade. My questions are simple: what is the bare minimum in skills necessary to turn a profit. Specifically the skills affecting takes and broker fees. I've been trying to trade in jita but I'm getting killed in fees. Going beyond that, what is your typical profit for a given week? minimum skills are the one needed for the first four order slots, but you should max broker relations and accounting asap |

Hop into the lounge, we don't bite, and last night we did a whole section of stuff about market history, finding items, and profits etc.

Better in game skills give you better profit options, so they are important. Your profits will be higher, but they are not required.

Now I'm assuming that's in a low competition hub. I was more asking in regards to jita. Still, thanks for the help. I'll swing by the lounge tonight. This Space Intentionally Left Blank |

Never mind. I'm just bad at trading then. Well the first step is admitting you suck. I've got that part down. This Space Intentionally Left Blank |

I spent some time in Dodixie trading Faction Crystals.... rough.... I couldn't make it work. I stay out of Jita as it seems to be high volume low margins... I can't do either. I need high margin/low volume. Thus Amarr works for me. My niche.
Your niche is there somewhere. |

Out of curiosity are there any lowsec hubs? My time in wspace got me *very* good at moving goods through hostile space. I might have to look into that...

Nobody's "bad at trading" I think, it's just a matter of dedication. In fact, once you've got your market pinned, it can be as dull as mining. Read this for a start. |

I fine mine annoying... watching a potential a large profit margin get destroyed by someone think they will sell their goods faster if they cut the price 60%. All that happens is everyone follows... and everyone losses profit.

Well, to each one his own. I find deep undercuts an annoyance as mundane as belt rats, in fact. |

Its not dull at all, trick is to socialize and read what others write here in MD and SCC lounge, you then begin to understand more then just changing prices mindlessly.
there are many different ways to approach trading, just try not to copy others, being original is always the most profitable.
also do your best not to lock yourself into one thing and only one thing, the market likes to take dips back and fourth, you just have to know when to buy into the dips and sell when you think its the right time.
I find myself running missions, doing whatever science and just reading up on what more experienced traders talk about when Im not sitting on one or more of my trader alts doing whatever it is I think I should be doing. |

All right, we're talking scalping vs trending, then. My bad. Is anyone else a mindless scalper like me, here? |
