Parts - Controversy has erupted across the Federation as Chief Justice Broyal Alserette has declared Jolee and Ting Hanvyner to be not guilty of the accusations levied against them by the Federal Intelligence Office. The two women, a singer-songwriter and military cyberwarfare officer respectively, were charged with conspiracy and collaboration with the Caldari State a month ago, using their status to funnel fleet movement data using a form of musical coding. |

It's a good thing we have the Supreme Court and a rather fine justice system. Were it not for these protective measures I fear the Black Eagles would be able to have anyone they wanted taken away and do who knows what to them. Hell for all we know, people are already disappearing without others reporting it.
I'm all for the idea of routing out the vile traitors that lurk among us, though the last person I would be accusing is a pop singer and her wife.
Put it this way, if they were sending fleet movement and other sensitive military information to the Caldari State, the Leviathan would still be in Luminaire.
Always good to see Blaque discredited. Hopefully some power is taken away from his Black Eagles. I like internal security forces, but I don't expect them to be breaking into my room at night, putting a black bag over my head, and whisking me away. At least not in the Federation I grew up in. Watch Fred Fred Frederation and stop cryptozoologist! Fight against the brutal genocide of fictional creatures across New Eden! Is that a metaphor? Probably not, but the fru-fru- people will sure love it! |

Somewhat thin on details, but I am glad that this farce is over.

I disagree, I'm not used to the FIO making charges of this nature without actually having sufficient evidence to back their charges up, but this time I was proven wrong.
At any rate, this incident has likely left a bunch of conspiracy theorists with plenty of fuel and it did get a number of the artist's fans charged with trying to break into the FIO's data-banks. I wonder if this pair will offer those people any acknowledgement for their efforts and sacrificed futures on their behalf.

Well, the last two events that got major coverage in our media circles involved (in reverse order):
A) The murder of a good number of 'hacktivists' in an FIO bust that rivaled many FW starship engagements in scope.
B) The public immolation of a traitor.
Definitely not representative of the system as a whole, but it was certainly setting a trend for 'If it is Federation, concerns 'justice' and appears on a scale relevant to capsuleer interests, it likely means the FIO is cooking up a new way of rupturing, violating or destroying parts of the human body for the baying crowds'.
I'm glad that this nascent trend turned out to be a 'glitch' in the Federation's laudable and just legal system. CEO of the Achura-Waschi Exchange: An International trade corporation that adheres to State values

I'm unsure how an acquittal by the highest court of the Federation following a complete failure of the FIO to produce any kind of solid evidence for their accusations is an "automatic assumption." |
