Are you buying a prebuilt computer? If not, what's your budget? If yes, I'd go for the first one, if only for the fact that I'm a bit of an Intel fanboy. He who controls the veld, controls the universe. |

I'd go with the upper setup.
Personally, I'd swap some components tho:
Double the RAM to 8GB Upgrade the processor to a Intel Core i5-3570K Get a SSD harddrive to install EVE on And maybe swap the mainboard to an Asus P8 Z77-V Pro, but thats mostly personal preference. This board offers 8 SATA connectors and SLI capability which I both need. Most important is the Z77 chipset which is pretty good :) |

As your budget is $600 it looks like the first set up will serve you well. With room to add another 650 at a later date if you end up dual boxing or needing a little more umph to push the graphics. I would add that the first setup is better because I personally have always had better luck with NVIDIA Graphics than ATI.
The solid state drive everyone keeps recommending will give you faster log in and boots, but again this can be added as an upgrade at a later date, and for your budget not necessary just an added convenience.
And if your running a windows 32 bit OS then 4 gb of ram is all you need, since 32bit Windows will only recognize 4gb anyways. however if you are using a 64Bit OS then doubling the Ram will make for a smother running system and save you some laggy commands in the future. You my friend,-ádefy the whole theory of natural selection. |
