I am looking to set up a POS for personal use. I was wondering how the reputation needs go. I have close to the reputation on this toon to set up a POS in high sec. My only issue is I want to stay in my corp and I want my alt to run the POS. Can I leave my corp im in now. Make a corp, set up a pos. Then leave the corp for my alt to run? Or will the POS need to be taken down since my alt would be the only person in the corp and not have enough reputation to technically have a POS in the system.
Am I looking at this wrong or is there a work-around for this?
Thanks,
Nate |

Not sure where I read this before, but the standing is required for the initial setting up of a POS, not for maintaining it. So your plan should be entirely do-able. |

Thanks for the response. Would I be able to add any other modules to my POS. Or will it be a one time set up. Or does the standings just count for actually setting up the tower only? |

Just the initial setup of the tower. You can anchor/online/offline the modules as you wish over time. |

Yup, standing only applies when anchoring the tower. Once it's anchored you can on/offline it, change modules etc as much as you want.
But... Bear in mind that you can't change a tower's size without unanchoring all the modules so if you think you may need a bigger tower in the future you may want to think about putting a bigger tower up first.
Look at http://eve.1019.net/pos/ to give you some idea on what you can squeeze onto what tower. Caldari towers seem generally better for research because of the ration between Powergrid and CPU, but have a play and see what setup works best.
One thing I noticed, has your alt got ANY standing with the faction who controls the space? if not then the standing will remain even when your main leaves, so the alt can anchor / unanchor a tower as much as they want, but if they've got any standing then the overall standing will diminish over a week(ish).
I presume it's for research etc, in which case, pick a system that has got a station with reasonable office rent, especially if the alt is only running research, you won't need access to level 4 agents etc, and why spend 20-30mil a month when you don't need to.

Thanks for your very informative response! Right now my alt has 0 standing with the faction I want to put the tower in. So it would be better to keep it that way so it doesn't diminish once he takes over? It sounds like I will be good to go to just build my tower with my main if all it needs it to set up the tower itself.
Thanks!

OK next question. Can I have my standing high on this toon. Have have a 2 person corp with my alt with 0 standing. Can the toon with 0 standing actually build and deploy the pos? I guess im not sure how a initial corporations standing works. I thought it was an average of all the people in the corp. I was just wondering because I can skill up my alt to do all the setting up so I dont have to even bother with my main and then switching rolls over and such.
Also. For doing research and stuff. What tower is ideal fuel wise? Is is worth payin extra for the pirate faction towers? If so, which one is best for manufacturing/researching

If your alt has no standing and never has (this is not the same as 0) then when your main joins the corp for 7 days, the corp standing will rise to that of your main. When the main leaves the corp, the corp standing will remain, because there is nobody in the corp to cause it to be recalculated.
For anchoring a tower, only the corp standing matters. Anyone with the Config Starbase Equipment role can anchor a tower. |

Anyone with the Config Starbase Equipment role can anchor a tower. I recommend avoiding pirate faction towers. For research Caldari > Minmatar > Gallente > Amarr. I own 3 large Caldari. I started with a medium DG, and replaced it after about a month (that was a PITA) with a large Domination, which I later sold for several billion profit and replaced with regular Caldari. With the standard towers, there is less worry about their loss.
Thanks for the useful information! |

The fuel requirements are no longer valid, but everything else is accurate. It's easier to just figure out what you need and if it fits than everyone else trying to do 20 questions to know what you need and recommend something.
With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.
