TL, DR: Caldari ships -> 0.0 ratting Cerberus, Tengu, Navy Drake? ... or something else?
Hi guys,
I'm stuck in this "quo vadis" situation: I want to get into 0.0 ratting - by that I mean doing sites. I've looked into different options and need your opinions and experiences. A certain GTFO-factor should be included. Probe launcher would not be necessary for a start. What do you think of the following Caldari ships for the above described task:
HAC: Cerberus http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Cerberus
Looks good on paper, I would love to fly this with HAMs due to the range boni. Unfortunately I hear nothing good about the Cerberus.
Tengu http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Tengu
Very famous, very popular. Obviously useless with HAMs but I would have no problem training for HMs. Can other ships do a similar job for less ISK?
BC: Navy Drake http://community.eveonline.com/news/dev-blogs/in-the-navy/
I would certainly take the time and wait a month for this shiny. May be expensive as soon as it hits the market but let's see. Here's to you, here's to me, friends forever we will be ... and if we ever disagree, f*** you, and here's to me.Cheers! |

If you want to run anoms, you might as well just get a Naga. You can easily lose a few and still come out well ahead while plinking through wave after wave.
If you want to run complexes, join the herd and get a damn Tengu.
This advice is all somewhat dependent on which rats you're looking at, but that general pattern is going to hold across all space: tier 3 BC for anoms, pimped T3 (usually a Tengu) for plexes. Fitting obviously varies though. |

1st thing: PLURAL OF BONUS IS NOT BONI, IT IS BONUSES. Latin died over a millennium ago.
Now that's out of the way:
Cerb is awful at pretty much everything, don't even bother.
Tengu is famous and overused for a reason: it's good.
Navy drake won't be as good as a regular drake, it lacks tank and will get shredded in a plex, for belt ratting you can do that in a destroyer so doesn't really matter.

I found an interesting looking HAM Tengu: http://eve.battleclinic.com/loadout/58362-980-dps-pvE-santchum-tengu.html
I may fit it T2 wise for a start but I certainly love the concept. Here's to you, here's to me, friends forever we will be ... and if we ever disagree, f*** you, and here's to me.Cheers! |

Never done a sanctum but 40km range sounds awfully low. Paper dps is always inferior to actual applied dps and I seem to recall someone posting a tengu fit around here that could hit to 70 with hams |

Nighhawk is one of the options if you dont want to go for Tengu for some reason. It's in a nutshell just a crappier version of Tengu for half the price. Slighthy larger buffer, less agile, less dps. Here, sanity... niiiice sanity, come to daddy... okay, that's a good sanity... *THWONK!* GOT the bastard. |

The Nighthawk certainly is nice but unfortunately takes forever to train into. ^^ As for now most hints point into one direction, this mountain demon everybody obviously loves. But it's so last year, right? So mainstream. :D

Well - I think the devs planned to make Nighthawk better than Tengu for combat once they reach it with tiericide. But I would not hold my breath over it.
All it got atm is the nerf to its tank and getting to be the "collateral damage" in the Drake nerf when heavy missiles were castrated a little while ago. Here, sanity... niiiice sanity, come to daddy... okay, that's a good sanity... *THWONK!* GOT the bastard. |

Tengu, Tengu, Tengu or Tengu... oh, did I mention the Tengu? If everything doesnt work for you, use a Tengu!
You wont get constant 800 DPS up to 70km range (or whatever range HMs have) with any other missile ship there? |
