I said to myself when I started the trail "NO, I'm NOT going to buy this game after these 14 days because it's stupid to pay 12 bucks a month to play a game! ". Actually that was the main reason I tried this trail, to play a quality MMO without paying for it. And now over a year later I'm still playing this game every single day... So, anyone else out there that was sure he/she was't going to continue playing after the trail but just couldn't stay away from this OMGWTFSUPERAWSOMEPWMAGE game?

I had never played an MMORPG before and didn't know the game existed until my brother introduced it to me. 4 months on I have my own account. First MMORPG I have ever played, best MMORPG I have ever played.

It was only a 3 day trial from PC Zone when I installed it, then found out it had been upgraded to a 7 day trial, which made me very happy... I think I actually handed over my CC details on day 2... LOL
Also my first ever MMO and after trying several others (on trial) still the best!

Played during beta, hated it. :)
While playing SWG I met some old players who remembered me from Earth and Beyond, so I'd been reading E&B pages to remember the glory days. One morning SWG was down, so I hopped over to EVE's website to see how the game was going. I say the link to the Ruthless short story and decided to read it. I was totally blown away by it.
I downloaded the client while finishing the story and tried it out. Three months later I haven't even logged back into SWG since that morning. -- Lil Miner |

Edited by: ParMizaN on 04/10/2005 19:10:17 i LOVED the trial .. it reminded me so much of elite...
just the sheer size of everything from a wide-eyed n00bs perspective made me fall in love with the game
edit: i also said "il NEVER pay for an online game" and i had paid by the end of my trial

I started playing the trial for about 10 minutes and was already planning to purchase an account. This is the first and only MMORPG I plan to pay for.

Took me two days into the trial to decide to buy the game.

Bought the game in the shops just after release, was thinking I wanted to play a MMORPG since getting broadband. Totally drew me in and still playing now ( after a few months break, ohh how i miss that wasted skill training time ). Have tried afew other online games, but nothing compares to EVE yet. .....

I had read about EVE in a game magazine and after a while i talked my bro into making an account. No trail . After a short while he left me with the account and made his own. Been paying for close to 10 months now

cough cough, well cough i happened to see this 14day free trail....:P and i wanted in, come to find out it was a game, EVE. I was a die hard, i mean DIE HARD UT2004 players, and i spat on anyone that said they played MMO's. Never expected to actually stay. Unfortunately, my FPS mentality took over and i had to be the best at EVE as well, and now i have almost the same hours logged on xfire in this game as i did in my whole 1.5years playing UT 2004, in only 3 months!!! MMO's are bad!!!!!

Right here. o/
Signed up for my paid account after two days on the trial. I've thrown trials at pretty much every gamer I know on-line and some have actually stuck around.
Kudos to CCP for keeping this system going.

Question is, who paid for it before your trial finished :)
I paid on the 9th day of the 14 day trial.
Just for one month i said...

I saw there was a trial, but i was already on the credit card details page and far too drunk - and lazy - to click it and fill more boxes.

I had bought the boxed set with a 30 day trial if I remember correct, and I set payment around day 14. Started playing with a friend from work, who now is also hooked. Same story for him
Now I'm about 4 months along and I still have fun!! This game is great!

I'm on the 14 day trial but i'm pretty sure i'll be signing up. this game hooked me in. I have been play world of warcraft since november last year and i'm still mucho addicted to that game too.
But it all works out, i play WOW while jumping around Eve and mining, hehe addictions FTW.

As I remember I bought the retail version after reading about it in PC Gamer some months before. That was June 2003, had a break to play SWG and then WOW.
Came back a few months ago after getting bored of WOW, nice that CCP still had my character stored despite me not remembering my login details If I'd had to start from scratch I probably wouldn't be here now

Had to do the trial twice. The first was the "EnB, come on over" trial. Tried it again a year later and got hooked.

I told myself I would play at least 2 or 3 14 day trails then probably join up, I only last 7 days and joined on the 1st trail.
This game is fun and then I think it is boring but it is just when I am tired and need sleep :) And it just becomes fun all over again.
Always something to do and I have not even got a group I'm playing with yet, I'm still pretty much solo & it is still fun, so I can't wait till I get in a group.

Saw a synopsis in PCGamer, "Stunningly beautiful.. Iain Banks esque MMORPG." or summat...
A sucker for beautiful things and loving Iain Banks "Culture" novels I got the 14 day trial. The atmosphere and vastness got me hooked within the week and a full account was created. Threw a trial at a mate through the Buddy Program, describing the game as Uber-detailed ELite on Speed.. He is still in game too
Over the year or so I've been playing, its funny how the atmosphere has changed, yet I remain..erm.. addicted..

All these stories sound very familiar... and mine is pretty much the same. I'd been on a trip down memory lane trying out some Elite ports & related space games and then came across the EVE free trial. As it was free I gave it a go, sure that I'd never play a "pay by the month" game, but a few days later my credit card was in my hand....

played in beta, and didn't continue because of mem leaks making it a slideshow after two hours on my PC back then and several other things that made it actually hard for me to see me playing EVE, so I never actually never looked back at it.
a year or so later a mail arrives with a trial key, which made me think "Let's look how they do now"...
that was about 1,5 years ago and I'm still enjoying it :)

Everything else is a step down, beleve what you hear about WoW, it -is- vastly inferior to EVE.
