Precision Warp - In addition to the standard distance warp options, precision warp will warp to an exact spot - HOWEVER...
Due to the long range calibrations of the warp core, a precision warp requires twice the capacitor(or by some other factor) than that of a normal warp.
What does this mean for gameplay? It means a player gets a limited amount of precision warps due to cap limits. Planning ahead is necessary - if you know a blockade is coming, make sure you have the cap for a precision warp. If not, wait for your cap to regen. It also means special fittings could be used for blockade running & fast travelling; maximum capacitor for precision warps to gates. For most standard fittings, a precision warp would drain too much cap for it to be done twice in a row.
Now for this to make any sense, bookmarks that are too close to structures (stargates, stations) would have be made invalid. That's a lot of work down the drain, but something has to be done to the bookmark system. It needs to be saved from its current bastardised state.
As far as mining goes, being able to precision warp to your can without lining up at 13k would be a blessing. Just make sure you have full cap and make a precision jump. The need for bookmarks is still there, for good mining spots and for safespots, but this time they're accurate.
A new Precision Warp skill could be introduced to reduce cap usage by a small amount per level. An option in the autopilot settings window could be "Precision warp when available". Oh yes.
The bottom line is, if you want to guarantee your way passed trouble, you'll need to wait until you have the capacitor. The impatient will still get caught out, and it will introduce new gate camping strategies. For example, an initial blockade will force travellers to precision warp, so there's a good chance their next warp (or the one after) won't be precision. So a secondary blockade will be good to catch them when they're out of cap to perform another precision warp. The counter to this would be to warp to a safespot in-between blockades to regain cpacitor before warping to the next gate. So sacrifising time for safety is an option, and so should it be.
So there you have it. Pirates can't always trap you, and travellers can't just insta past you all the way home.
Extra strategies and counter strategies come into play, as do extra ship fitting strategies. It's also something everyone can do from day 1, no more discrimination for those without instas. And it makes a lot more SENSE than the current insta exploit - lore is important in Eve. Thanks for your time

I agree that we need to remove the current problem of too many insta's.

I do not agree.... there can never be to many instas... If pirates (as myself) want to catch players theyŚll either have to catch them coming out of cloak after going thru the gate or use warp bubbles. You have no idea how many would get pi$$ed of if you just throw their instas down the drain overnight. It would be a cataclysmic blow to Eve.
This should NOT be agreed

How would my proposed change make it harder for pirates? I can see plenty more opportunites for catching people at gates. If you can only make 1 or 2 precision jumps in a row, compared to an unlimited amount of instas, then surely this is easier for pirating?

Rebuttal to Pirate's Post:
As it currently stands the only people any pirate is gonna catch because he doesnt have insta bookmarks is some noob who will surely learn the lesson fast.
Any pirate worth his salt is going to catch people on the other side of the gate anyway through the use of a close range tackler of some kind along with support of a heavy hitter.
As far as this affecting pirates ganking miners/complex runners I dont see how this would change anything.
Matter of fact, they could remove the bookmarks altogeather with this system which in effect would make it easier on pirates.
Last I checked SAFESPOTS were the bane of a pker's existance. This would effectively kill those.
Bottom Line:
I believe this system would be better for everyone involved.

Thanks for your support, but keep in mind this isn't a "us vs them" situation. I want pirating to be effective in eve, and as far as I can tell this solution will keep things interesting. It's a bonus for both sides of the fence if they use a bit of strategy.
