The drone bays with the forcefield look freaking cool, really cool. The Arbitrator (and of course the Pilgrim and Curse) have a nice little opening at the front of the ship. You know what would look really sweet covering the front of that opening?
A forcefield!
If you don't believe me, check out this mock up.
But really, one of those flashy V3 forcefields which can be seen on the newer ships and the recent V3s (such as the Archon and Apocalypse look very cool, and the Arbitrator plus its variants are primarily drone ships. |

I endorse this petition. Its obvious for me that this hull need forcefield on drone bay just like other ship, especially amarr carriers as it is in fact mini carrier. ADVENTURERS Corp. | To explore & fight! | https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=2906996 |

As a Gallente pilot I'm all for this of course. The reason I'm suggesting the Arbitrator and it's T2 versions is that the model already has an open bay. To do this is as simple as adding the forcefield effect itself.
The Vexor, Dominix and Tristan will need an alteration to the model to add a drone bay, although at least we know a remodel of the Tristan is in the works.
But anyway, adding this to the Arbitrator shouldn't take more than an hour's work and this is why I'm suggesting it. |

OP you should change the title of the thread to 'The Arbitrator should have a force field on its drone bay' Fit a warfare link to your tech 1 battlecruiser. Train Wing Commander. Get in the Squad Commander or Wing Commander position. Your fleets will be superior to everyone else's. |

Thing is though they don't technically NEED a forcefield. Forcefield would be there to trap breathable air inside and prevent fire from entering and hitting large fighters within the hangar ala starwars hangar forcefields.
Drones might need this for the anti-fire protection (though i think they're housed elsewhere in the ship adn they're jsut loaded onto a catapult quickly when launched), but theres no need of an air restricting forcefield.
But what the hell throw them in I want them. |

Although I didn't want to presume that the original designers of the Arbitrator intended that opening at the front of the ship to be a drone bay, I guess I already did by asking for a forcefield to be slapped on it.
So will do, because it makes more sense

If I argued that the drones were stored inside that bay area and were maintained by human mechanics, who needed the bay area to have atmosphere, would that make you feel better?
But yes I think a large hole in a ship is equally justifiable for a forcefield

I have bad news for all of you. EVE Online is going to shut down and/or the world will be ending shortly.
Blame OP, who has posted an amazingly good suggestion in Features & Ideas.
+1 for you, OP. This absolutely must happen. |

they're maintained by human mechanics. Good then when they add this, also make it so that drones in your bay passively restore armor and hull at a slow rate. Tired of letting drone get slightly damaged, btu having the only way of reppign it is to go to a station or carry an aromr reparer (or armorrepdrone) on my ship |

Nice, simple, clean and logical suggestion. +1 and well done OP!
EDIT: Expanding on this I would dare to go one step further and say that every ship capable of launching drones should have a forcefield-protected drone bay visible but let's get a standard set for once race\class and then flush it through eh Fast Character Switching:https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=233321&find=unread |

I think CCP are definitely doing this. If you take a look at the new Apocalypse you can see drone bays on the side, which are very cool
My idea is a just a simple addition to a model that probably isn't going to be redesigned any time soon, since the Arbitrator model is definitely not as bad as some ships out there. |
