Naturally, a cloaking device that functions like the tech 2 covert ops cloak is probably something to be kept at the tech 2 level as well as confined to specialty Covert Ops type tech 2 ships. But I've got an idea for a lesser version that could perhaps be allowed on the tech 1 scan frigates, electronic warfare cruisers, small industrials, black ops. Or it could just be a cheaper cloaking device for Covert Ops pilots who are cheapskates and/or have a death wish.
Covert Ops Cloaking Device I Can be active during warp, but partially decloaks the ship. The ship will display on the overview and will have a fraction of its signature radius while aligning to warp. Once the ship comes out of warp, it returns to being fully cloaked. This would make it take much longer to target the ship while aligning to warp, making it easier to get through a gate camp. It would be especially effective for frigates.
Maintains probably 50% velocity while cloaked. Also percentage signature radius reduction during warp would have to be balanced and I do not know enough about Covert Ops cloaks to pick a number. Fit a warfare link to your tech 1 battlecruiser. Train Wing Commander. Get in the Squad Commander or Wing Commander position. Your fleets will be superior to everyone else's. |

Biggest reason to add this: lets junior pilots get early covert ops experience.
There is an exploit with your idea to make your self visible before entering warp, click align and dont click warp until aligned, exploit.... Two Teir Carriers-áhttps://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=207604&find=unread |

What would that accomplish, and what relevance does it have to this thread?
-edit- I think what you're trying to say is that the max velocity should be less than 50%.
nvm I see what you're saying. Could cause max velocity during cloak to be 100% while trying to warp, but, say, 40% while not entering warp. Fit a warfare link to your tech 1 battlecruiser. Train Wing Commander. Get in the Squad Commander or Wing Commander position. Your fleets will be superior to everyone else's. |
