Nobody wants this to happen. No one wants to see anyone lose their jobs. No one wants families to worry.
In this time of change, you can take some comfort that CCP probably looks good on a resume in the industry as an innovator in the field.
Good luck to those who will move on to new ventures, we wish you well. |

I can only agree. Each and every CCP employee I ever dealt with was doing a great job, showed humor and wit and altogether enriched the game.
I hope all works out well for all those who will have to leave CCP! |

plus 1.
Although none of them will ever see this forum post, I hope CCP relays our gratitude for their work while they were with CCP.
Our best wishes.

Why did they hire Americans in the first place?
Also, I thought since Incarna, numbers had gone stable instead of growing? Doesn't that mean they should be able to maintain the status quo? CSM - Do you think? You see if they ruin high sec and WHs, you are ripping the newbie uterus out of EVE and feeding it to the big alliances. When it is gone, they will starve and die. |

So all I got was that the CEO is still in charge and rather than cut his share or the top bosses salary's, he sacks the little people. Pretty much what every business does when things go south, screw the little guy not the poeple at the top who are causing the problem. :P
I have never seen CCP make a correct choice in EVE, pretty sure this wasn't a good choice either.

the problem is they tried to do too much at once with 0 gain in profit its like building a new store and then getting 0 sales.
its unfortunate that this happened, but if u look at it, those people should never have been hired in the first place ( at least by CCP for wod)
the good news is game development is a booming industry, the lack of jobs thing won't be as hard on them as other industries. |

Luckily what the Herp said above is true. The gaming industry is not hurting for jobs. That being said I feel for all those that lost a job doing something that they probably believed in and thoroughly enjoyed working on.
Fly well all in your new job search.

Totally. Where's the accountability? Suits f#k up, they don't care, they take the losses out of the workerbee's pockets and get in their fata$$ BMWs and go back to their fata$$ houses to fondle their investment portfolios and stock options meanwhile the workers get their lives screwed up for who knows how long. |

Whilst it is sad people have lost their jobs, this is CCP's error and not ours and nobody here should feel guilty for what has gone on.
They were warned.
Every single fix required for FIS and every single feature we wanted to see implimented in Incarna (this first incarnation of it hur hur), like a button to switch between the hanger etc, has been extensively documented on these forums...and in the right sub forum.
There was absolutely no excuse on their part to **** it up quite so badly. Which they did. There has been no excuse not to improve EVE over the past years with simple fixes and balances, as well as the good content (such as WH etc) which we have received.
You can only go so far ignoring everyone before people actually DO leave.
We play this game more than the DEV's these days and it is obvious that a number of very clued up players actually know better than CCP in terms of how the mechanics of this game function and how to improve it. Not saying we are perfect, but our advice and feedback should be listened to.
Afterall, if we didn't give a **** about EVE we wouldn't give any feedback to try and improve it.
Do not feel guilty that a company screwed up and people had to be let go. Would it have been better to not make a fuss, the employee's keep their jobs and come winter play to win comes without the joy of ship spinning or hybrid balancing etc etc etc etc? I think not. |

IMO a horrible decision to gut the community team when you could have saved more money and resources by having Hilmar step down and hiring a Capuchin monkey, but that's just me, I guess. |

Quote: An Open Letter to the Players of EVE Online
Heya guys,
Many of you know me as CCP Fallout, but to most people IGÇÖm just plain old Mist. If you are reading this, there is a good chance you already know that CCP has laid off approximately 20% of its workforce. I am one of the 20%.
For the last three years, I have been the associate community manager for EVE Online. I have had both the honor and the privilege to not only work with an absolutely amazing team, but extremely talented and passionate designers, programmers, QA, customer support and others who have brought, and continue to bring, EVE Online to life. My co-workers have, and I hope will continue to, inspire, educate, amuse, and drive me bat **** crazy. These people are extremely passionate about their work, and each of them is tremendously talented. It has always bugged me that players never truly got to see this side of EVE OnlineGÇÖs devs unless they went to Fanfest. When you speak face-to-face with someone at CCP about EVE Online, thatGÇÖs not just some mask they are wearing for three daysGǪ EVE Online is something we love, something we want to grow, and something we are proud of. In this respect, EVE OnlineGÇÖs devs really are not that much different from players, even if I know you might not believe me when I say it.
And of course, none of this would happen without you, the players, the most amazingly insane bunch of space assholes (1, 2) ever to play an MMO ever. I have been so incredibly blessed to have had the privilege and honor of working for you all these years, and thank you for allowing me into your universe. Not a day has gone by where I wasnGÇÖt either amused or shocked by some of the crazy things you guys would come up with. Every day was an adventure; every day was an experience that I canGÇÖt ever forget. I am indebted to the EVE community teaching me both passion and humility, and for reminding me how important the voice of a community is during both the good and bad times.
So, what does the future bring for me? IGÇÖm not entirely sure. To be honest, I am a bit scared and concerned, but I am hopeful. I do realize that I am probably going to have to stop wearing pajamas all day, and introduce myself to some soap, but I am confident that things will be okay. And I wish the same thing for all of my friends who currently are on the same boat as I.
Please do fly safely. IGÇÖm going to go now, because I am starting to cry.
P.S. Yes, I know whatGÇÖs coming into the game next. No, I will not tell you
1. You know I only mean this with love! 2. Also: haha, no blackfilter on my site!
CCP Fallout's good-bye :( Shadoo > Always remember to fit Cynosural Field Generator I, have 450 Liquid Ozone in your cargo and convo a friendly Pandemic Legion member if you have a capital or super capital ship tackled. |

Dammit, I hate agreeing with Goons -.-
How bout you guys really do something for the game and organize mass protests for Hilmar to GTFO lol "Some say that he is actually dead, but the Grim Reaper is too afraid to tell him." Again, how does gutting the community team help with the 'improved communication' we are been promised?
This seems very strange and makes a certain recent post by a certain CEO seem like a lot of hot-air.
They promise more work on FIS, then fire 20% of the staff? It would be nice know exactly which 20% were fired...... by department or a certain CEO is going to end up with egg on his face once again and even more people quitting because they don't trust the direction he is taking EVE.
I know quite a few people from EVE were looking forward to WoD as well..... as it stands atm, not sure I would put any money into it!
1/5 of the work-force is a big deal, really there should of been an offical announcement about it somewhere as it is just making CCP look bad atm. |
