hey all i'm about to get the claoking skill and had a few questions.
so i know that you can warp while cloaked, but is this only with a certain cloaker? i know that i cant warp cloaked in my manticore.
and i know that you cant use any modules besides your cloaker while cloaked right? or wrong?
am i missing anything else i should know before i go scout out for pvp and get pwned doing something i really shouldny be?
thanks

Only the covert ops ship can warp while cloaked, assuming you fit a covert ops cloak II to it (the covert ops ship is the only ship able to equip these). Stealth Bombers use the other 2 kinds of cloaks which don't allow you to warp cloaked. (although stealth bombers are listed under covert ops ships they are not in of themselves covert ops ship, each race has one ship which is specifically called a covert ops ship).
As for your second question: to my knowledge you cannot activate modules whilst the cloak is active however i read in another post that there are some devices which you can activate prior to cloaking and which will remain active whilst you are cloaked. I am not certain whether this is a bug or an exploit, someone with more experience of using cloaks will probably be able to better clarify this.

no can do. While cloacked u can¦t activate anything. However, soon as you turn it off and it¦s still blinking u can activate other mods

I've found a little trick to this that has had some success. It only works with a Sensor Booster fitted to a Covert Ops ship (not a SB). If you activate the Sensor Booster then immediatly cloak, the Booster stays active indefinitely, even after decloaking. Unfortunately, you are still subject to the targetting delay immediately after decloaking and I have never been able to get any other modules to activate in this way.
I would also be VERY interested to know what the effect an active sensor booster would do to the visibility of a cloaked ship. I'd be very worried if I was sitting on a gate in 0.0 and saw a little pulsing bubble approaching my ship!

Edited by: Famine Aligher''ri on 14/10/2005 08:47:37 Yeah you can't activate mods while cloaked. You can as soon as you un-cloak. However, in all cases you have a recab time before you can lock. This is not the same as activation a non-agressive mod. So you can un-cloak and warp away or activate a sensor booster but you have to wait to lock and shoot depending on your cloaking skills and the cloaking device you are using.
With some of the lower end cloaking devices that actualy give a bonus to your scan reso. The use of an sensor booster cancles that but there is no mod to lower your recab time before you can lock. Only the cloaking skill itself can do that.
Improved Cloaking Device II Sensor Recalibration Time - 20 Seconds <---Time before you can lock Scan Resolution Bonus - 40% <---Increases your ships lock time Reactivation Time - 30 Seconds <---Time before you can re-cloak
