This seems as good a place as any to put this up to anyone who's interested....
This is my Eve story in brief & I also typed up a story for the Eve "True Stories" event, here's the link:
https://truestories.eveonline.com/ideas/353--the-four-week-war-unprovoked-aggression-vs-the-royal-navy
Up-vote it, down-vote it, troll the **** out of it, I don't care... just have fun with it!
When I first started playing, I had no idea what to do so I joined up with a bunch of miners and industrialists in safe ass high-sec. After a few months of being bored out of my mind, I randomly came across an Incursion site in my travels and thought to myself "Hell Yeah! This is what Eve's about!"
I jumped into a site without knowing anything about it with my cruiser and was promptly targeted by a ton of Sansha Nightmares. The enemy lasers flashing by my ship, the opposing fleets guns blowing the Sansha up, the logis repping me as hard as they can, the sheer amount of activity going on in space around me..... needless to say I freaked the hell out! Luckily the fleet doing the site saved my ass and coached me on how to disengage by giving me their Teamspeak info to talk to me. After that, I was hooked!
That was my first instance of actual fleet ops, and even though it was a PvE activity, it was a much more social experience then sitting in my high sec corp and hoping one or two corpmates would come online for me to chat with. Before I knew it, I was rolling in a few billion isk just from having fun and then I came to realization: "What the hell am I accumlating so much isk for? Let's use it!"
Which led to me joining up with my current corp Drunk Chaos who are an awesome bunch of dudes and pretty fun to just bullshit with on comms, nevermind the bad ass ops we do. Aside from the corp, the alliance is made up of some bad-ass Aussies. I don't know **** about Oz but after getting with these guys I've "broadened my horizions" and learned about another culture.
This leads to the heart of my post.... my alliance Unprovoked Aggression had been involved in a bunch of great fights, actually pretty much a full scale war with The Royal Navy over in the Aridia region last month
The TL:DR: Main point to take away is that all of the things that happened to me, over the course of months, was completely emergent, unscripted, and makes for some of the best stories i've ever experienced in a video game! The tag line about the 'butterfly effect'... yeah, it's real. |
