Edited by: Kaeleron on 19/10/2005 00:22:15 He thought he had left this life behind when he took to the stars again. His Atron landed in the bay of Khanid Transport in the Khanid Prime system. Though the Kingdom wasn't his favorite of places he did wonder if his friend Miss Druscilla Rosche was around. Of cousre she wasn't but it wasn't a suprise. She had been doing long patrols elsewhere and spending time with Pulgor. Kaeleron showered cleaning the pod fluids off his body before getting suited up. He looked over his body still visualizing the scars that used to be. Each scar a memory and some memories a scar. Dried and suited in his combat armor Kaeleron grabs the two large bags of equipment. He walked up the ramp of the shuttle to the rest of his team.
"First time outside the pod?" the marine asked.
Kaeleron lookes at him and replied, "Not at all Sergent. Its just been a while."
The shuttle cleared the bay and set off for their destination. It was a long trip even at top speeds. The transport shook and creaked at the stress of velocity.
Along the way his thoughts couldn't help but drift over his experiences. His life with his father and family on the smuggling routes through Syndicate. The night Blood Raiders took his only brother and two of his sisters. How he was too young to help those even younger than him. Zainou Biotech giving him his learning jacks and interface technology as a young boy at the request of his father. Always moving, staying on the fringes of society. His father showing him the ins and outs of the family trade. The night the rest of his family died when his fathers "associates" killed him for cheating them. Then they crashed the ship and him and his family into a remote planet that he to this day can find again. Surviving months on his own stranded till he was picked up by a Gallente mining team and taken to the nearest orphanage. When the seen the implants they immediately started his training in everything he missed as a child by not being in classrooms of a conventional sense.
The trasnport was straining with it's load to maintain speed. The old ship was holding it together well.
Kaeleron thought of his first years in the Gallente Infantry. Stationed on remote Praefectures on distant worlds. Sometimes fighting off the sparse pirate raids. He kept up his neural training and physical regiment and was eventually move up to more dangerous work.
"Engineering we are rading a power coupling ruptured get on it!" the polit screamed through the intercom.
Kaeleron looked down on his bags and remembered loosing ships and crews as a pilot. "They think they are gods," he thought to himself. Most pilots probably never been on the otherside of the fluid. He thought about the crew dead under him and those who killed them. He looked around at the marines around him knowing that when he dies his clone will come to life. The marines will go to wherever the beleive they will go.
He thought about those back at his new home. Krigel being aloof and slightly sociable. Elthia with her paperwork, all flushed when Suuji visits, Antione and his super violent shows. Finally Kit Duchane, the whole reason he even singed up, the newly proclaimed Miss Placid. Her fell for her ontoxicating smile and bouncy personality. As he is sure many have. He was thinking about the time He visited her in the hospital, When he showered her in her favorite ores. He also remebered walking out of the compound wanting to say goodbye and she nowhere to be found. He knew there was little hope future in it, and he could accept the fact she was in no way a one woman man, but he still knew that she give him a smile everytime she was aronund. No matter he doubted she missed him and he had a job to do.
"Stap in . . . Planetside in fifteen minutes!" the drop officer screamed at the marines.
They all strapped in as the craft begun it's fiery decent into the planet's surface. A new day is soon to begin. |

Edited by: Kaeleron on 19/10/2005 02:31:07 The tranport dropped through the ever thickening atmosphere eventually clearing the turbulence and flying normally over the planetary landscape. The pilot guided the transport over to the trajectory needed for landing at the command center.
"Sir, we will be arriving shortly. General Chasu will be expecting you and your team soon after touchdown." the young marine informed him.
"Thank you Corporal" Kaeleron spoke up.
The craft flew over the canopy of trees avoiding the makeshift anti-aircraft batteries. A few of the rounds went into the hull of the ship but could beraly penetrate the armor. The craft bobbed and weaved then cleared the maw. With a loud slam the cargo doors slammed open revealing the overlook of rainforest and mountiains. A scene that Kaeleron Had scene once before. The place of his family's final resting place. He was awestruck at the fact that he returned and once again knew not where in the galaxy he was. A few Atmosheric fighters were sent to assist the craft in. These battles take place more than government would like to admit. All part of the cold war over power resources and territory. none of the empires could formally declare war, but these small planetary engagements were small enough to mostly be overlooked. Especially in the outer regions.
The craft touched down and the marines quickly scurried off. They liked the ground, space was too unpredictable. Kaeleron quickly headed to the general's command center.
A young officer sounded off, "General Chasu, Operations Specialist Kaeleron reporting."
The general nodded and the young officer ushered Kaeleron in and left just as quickly. The general turned and smiled as if seeing his best friend.
"Kael it has been a long time, how are things in the stars?" General Chasu asked.
"As dangerous as always Ri," Kaeleron smiled as he spoke.
The general took a more serious note as has began to explain the situation. "Approximately one week ago the Amarr began a reclaiming of the local populous of this planet. We beleive these aren't of the Empire per se but a small assault force comprised of rouge groups. The Empire refutes all knowledge of their prescence here or ours. Now I know you have nothing agaisnt the Amarr personally but the Federation and State have "not" both sent contingents here too strive for a loose control. The situation is a two way conflict as the State seems to want no fight with the Amarr and seem to be doing a good job of keeping our forces contained, playing babysitter if you will. There is no orbital support since I doubt anyone wants to warrant such attention. A good old fashioned planetary operation."
Kaeleron reviewed the maps of the planet looking at current intelligence and force deployments. The Caldari had formed a wedge between Federation and Rouge Amarr forces keeping conflicts to a minimum.
"Your assignment is to make it from this drop point at a mountain we call Peak 253 and procede across the ridge into the back of these supply lines. You are to destroy these points and sever the aid that the Cadari are "not" giving the Rouges. You will be alone with your team so it is up to you alone to accomplish this mission and rejoin through the forward sentry positions across the northern ridge here." the general finished.
Kaeleron stood and said goodbye to his old friend. He proceded down to meet his squad. They all mustered in the armory to recieve their advanced small arms and other specialized equiptment. 53 men including Kaeleron, all specialy trained for the fight ahead. The loaded onto the dropship with their equiptment and strapped in. The Special Ops Light Deployment Incursion Expert and Reconnaisance(S.O.L.D.I.E.R.) Unit looked like machines in their polyresin techarmor suits. True warriors of the modern day, they could infiltrate almost anywhere undetected. The dropship arrived over the LZ and droped the assault pod that fell to the ground and the mission begins. |

Soldiers set up the equipment as Kaeleron opened his Secured NeoCom. Soon glyphs started flashing across the viewscreen.
DESTINATION 1 . . . Failed
DESTINATION 2 . . . Failed
DESTINATION 3 . . . Transmitting
Kaeleron was only able to make contact with Dru that evening, but he was glad he did. The normal conversation granted a small reprieve from the hot tropical climate, indigenous insects, and military equiptment being set up around him. He and Dru talked for a short time but with enemy patrols not to far away he was unsure of how long his communique would go unnoticed. Kaeleron said goodbye and closed the commlink.
The mobile command center was almost ready and would allow them to begin operations by the end of the day. The units were under strict orders not to engage any scouting patrols as to not give away their location. The soldiers walked with and almost unatural speed, agility and silence quickly surveying and securing the surrounding area. The inside of the command center begain powering the local information. Weather, lifesigns, machinery, anything else in real time. The soldiers began placing sentry turrets around the area in case danger came to close, and placed EM dampeners to hide the bases emissions signature. All set up the unit would call this home for the duration of their mission.
The soldiers loaded their weapons and put them on the snatch rack. Some of the most advanced small arms to be bought for an infantry unit all thrown on a single rack ready for a moments use. The man and women of the unit took to their bunks and rested for the days ahead. Probably the last semblence of a bed they will sleep in for quite some time. Kaeleron plugged into the base computer and went to sleep feeling everything the base senses. The Caldari and rouge Amarr patrols sharing information on federation emplacements. The local villages trying to hide as the patrols move through their midst. Kaeleron knew His mission will start with the new day.

The sun rose that morning and the unit was gearing the vehicles. Planetary vehicles that were armored, fast, and deadly. The crew loaded on and began to move into the jungle to their first objective.
The supply stations were very close to each other and their quiet destruction would cripple for a moment operations in the area. His team moved quietly and left the vehicles hidden with one guard. The team was moving in daylight so the photosensitve camoflage was activated on their suits rendering them invisible to the untrained eye. The moved like quicksilver through the tropical landscape applying the charges undetected in the supply stations. The unit arrived at the vehicles and began to move out when the charges went off sending flames and smoke high into the air.
"Flawless!" the unit head sergent spoke.
The screams could be heard in the distance. The screams of the men posted at the supply stations trying to douse the flames and save the warehouses inside. The station was senstive indeed and was already transmitting the next objective. The nearby Caldari communications center. Providing the local intelligence for the region silencing or taking control of this facility would leave the Caldari conscripts in disarray.
"These are inexperienced forces sir." the unit's intel officer spoke, "If these were led by a better trained leader we would already have patrols swarming the jungle looking for us. These probably are here to prove themselves capable for more lucrative corporate assignments."
The unit made haste to the communications center crossing through the thick foliage with ease. Most of the garrison was outside for the building's security.
"Lt. Avaros, you know what to do." Kaeleron spoke.
The woman, with catlike reflexes entered the building unnoticed and planted the datavirus. She was out just as fast. The Federation forces were now globally linked to all systems in the confict. |

The unit entered the makeshift command structure once again and rested. All ready the battle was commencing and Federation forces were moving onto the blind Caldari postions. The rouge Amarr forces in the area were beginning to stir, but nothing showing they were aware of their allies being killed or captured by the dozens.
The unit sat around the command center resting. Some writing, some playing small games, some practicing hand to hand manuvers. Kaeleron say at his desk looking at a holoimage of Kit, he wasn't sure how much longer he would be away but he knew it would not be a fast assignment. He began scrribling a note to transmit. Mail traffic was almost like noise in the universe, no one even tried to decrypt it. Kaeleron hit the send button and hoped it arrived before he did. He put her image away and decided to get some sleep.

Another day another fight. Word came in from General Chasu that the Federation forces were going to move in against the Amarr forces before the slave ships started leaving the surface. The unit suited up and began towards the local population center of Ker'Nirath. The Amarr were determined to protect the slave transports and had made battlements surrounding the city. Federation Aerofighters screeched overhead towards the city. The uniforms of Federation infantry and their vehicles probing for weak spots in the city's defenses. Kaeleron looked through his techvisor and seen the native citizens being pushed onto the vehicles destined for the slave ships. The unit moved in on their vehicles to aid the infantry on their assault. Kaeleron watched as the poor souls were cut down trying to breach the city. It was then a four kilometer hole broke from the bombardment. Kaeleron's unit moved in, activated their thermoptic camoflage and smashed the vehicles into a building looking as if they lost control. Kaeleron's command processor activated and the team moved behind enemy lines an the Federation pured in behind them.
A young corporal spoke over the comm, "We're outnumbered a thousand to one . . . they don't stand a chance."
Kaeleron grinned, grabbed the grip of his weapon like old times and led his team deeper into the city. They tread slowly sniping key unit leaders as they found them. This being done knowingly to ***** their morale and making it easier for the incoming Federation units to show them what their actions will cost them. Zealousy is no substitute for leadership.
Night fell on Ker'Nirath and the battle was still raging, the fuel tanks for the spacecraft were destroyed leaving the slave ships grounded. Firefights could still be heard throughout the city but Kaeleron's unit was poised high on rooftops continuing their task of softening up patrols. These battles were rare in this age of orbital bombardment, but even with all the starship technology available certain tasks could only be completed personally.
As the region quieted down the unit found a good place for rest, the Federation infantry was in overall control of the section of the city and the rouge Amarr forces were in a fully defensive stance. They were in a hard postion getting resistance from the local populous in the face of the Federation advances.
Kaeleron stayed awake with a young soldier talking and looking upon the fireworks display throughout the city. He expressed his feelings about his family, his young wife, his newborn son. Kaeleron promised that he would see them again. The young soldier seemed content with Kaeleron's candid honesty and the both looks to the horizon hoping for Federation victories over the many other areas in the region. It was a forboding feeling seeing the first of the slave ships entering orbit for elsewhere on the planet. Kaeleron's assingment was far from over. |

It was just past the mid of night when the Amarr in Ker'Nirath decided to mobilize against the Federation infantry. The rogue Amarr pushed the Federation forces straight out of the city and back into the surrounding fields. Kaeleron and his team were surrounded by the enemy fighters. They decided to move away from their location and try to sneak out of the city. Leaping from rooptop to rooftop using grapling lines and climbing spikes they made it close to the city's edge. Kaeleron took the time to contact Dru. He passed on a few heartfelt words of encouragement and farewell. He knew that it was a possibility that he would not make it off of the planet and was unsure how well cloning technology really was. It was then a squad of Kameiras opened fire on the squad causing the comm box to malfunction severing the conversation. Kaeleron and his team drug three of their fellow soldiers from the hail of fire. It was then Kaeleron contacted Krigel on the small comm device Kaeleron left for him. Kaeleron passed his last words onto Krigel and sent his final letter to Kit. The muzzle flashes lighting his image on the comm device. Just then a round penetrated the device destroying it. He knew no one would know what happens to him from that point on. He continued to move the remainder of his unit outside the city to the central command.
The Federation Casulties were enormous as the rogue Amarr tried to take back the city. Kaeleron helped carry the dead and wounded onto the medical vehicles covering his hands in the blood of his fellow soldiers. As the Federation ground forces were pulling back by the thousands, wings of aerofighters started an assault on the charging horde cutting swaths into the onslaught. The ensuing chaos allowed the Federation forces to push forward once again retaking the city. The local populous that remained was in shock and starving, but the humanitarian aid was already being distributed. The remaining Amarr that didn't end their own life were taken to the detention center and placed with their Caldari allies.
That morning General Chasu spoke to the army:
Across this world the enemy is entrenched in heavily fortified cities and fortifications. They seek to control this world, it's people, and it's destiny. We have show him here that we will not stand by and allow the galaxy to fall into darkness one planet at a time. Neither The Federation, The State, nor The Empire wish to realize the sacrifice made this day to preserve the truths we hold to be dear and the freedoms we embrace with a dedication in which we are willing to die to preserve the posterity of our future generations. My my fellow patriots that day is comming to an end, Here in this city, on this world, these men and women have fought and died on both sides to birth this idea whose time has come. Across this world our forces still fight the enemy with valor and honor. Here we are victorious. The enemies of humanity gather at our gates throughout the galaxy. Here is where it begins. Here we will reclaim our birthright. Here begins a new era in our people. Here on this world the hammer of liberty will fall.
General Chasu spoken with the grace of a senator but the conviction of any priest raised his ring adorned with a unique blue and green gem and pledged the he would give his life to a cause he felt so important to the future of humanity. The men and women in ranks and even some of the prisoners cheered. Kaeleron looked at the scene and said nothing. There was alot to be done if he were to get off of this world alive and he couldn't afford to be caught in the moment. He doubted any of the nations even cared what was happening on the backwater world. They were only interested in the resources. Kaeleron couldn't help to entertain the notion of wonder how far this would go. |

Kaeleron sent the bodies of three of his fellow soldiers home to their families. He knew they died as heroes and that the Federation will care for the families of the fallen. He couldn't help but have the memories of his friends and crew die. He being a pilot was always saved, but the others could not be as lucky. This was different though, there was no armor or vacuum between them and their enemy. The war was close, personal, a very human war. When your opponent died he layed there with his sanguine fluids running along the ground. There unfortunately was little time to rest, General Chasu had already begun to mobilize the forces to nearby regions to aid less successful than the newly named Hammerfall Region. After the speech the ganeral made, the Infantry found new recruits, mostly the young Cadari troops, but some of the Amarr and Kameiras even joined the general in his dream. As for the locals the seen General Chasu as a hero, saving them from a cruel fate. They went to work in the city to supply his army and some even conscrpiting into his units of the Federation infantry. This force was quickly becoming multinational, cohesive, and deadly. There was shock when his forces moved into the nearby regions. Each victory seeing more and more Federation, State, Rogue Amarr, and local conscripts fighting united under the charasmatic general. Each victory sending more of Kaeleron's friends and soldiers to their graves. Still, given the losses the regular Infantry was taking, Kaeleron's unit considered themselves lucky. But the territory's were quickly being set. General Chasu controlled a full third of planetary landmass. His standing army was growing everyday and the cities loyal to him were producing mixtures of weapons and technologies. In ancient times he would be feared but in the modern day he is a patriot and hero. Something was at work that Kaeleron couldn't explain. The troops were almost intoxicated by the general and his message. Kaeleron looked upon the remaider of his unit. Then went to go speak with the general.
"General, you requested my prescence?" Kaeleron asked.
The general had a look in his eye as if he knew the outcome before he stated it.
He spoke clearly, "Kaeleron, your unit has helped us secure many victories and your unit has performed it's duties with a gallantry that far exceedes any other unit in this army. That is why you are to help me end this war once and for all."
Kaeleron listened intently as the general covered his strategy and explained the failsafes and counter strategies in place. The starship factories were in production putting ships into orbit to aid with the plan. No more slaves to be taken off the planet. Kaeleron stood tall and shook his old friend's hand. He had his orders and a mission to follow. He briefed his unit and they made preparations for deployment. Kaeleron was like the general to them. He genuinely cared for those under his command. The were people, not pawns, he was their commander. They were responsible to him and he to they. No where they wouldn't follow him and together they knew victory.
That night Kaeleron looked at the Holoimage of Kit, she seemed so very far away. He remembering Kit, Druscilla, Pulgor, Paladine, even Cvoboda. He thought on everyone he knew and what his friend the general spent nights saying to him. Could Kaeleron really be able to help begin something bigger than himself? Bigger than any single nation, race or bloodline? Kaeleron didn't know the answer. He just knew looking upon Kit's holoimage that he was hoping to be making things better for her. The general walked and sat next to him like they did all those years ago. Kaeleron's friend, the general handed him a ring with a blue and green gem in the middle. Kealeron's eyes glowed as he put it on. He realized how very big the events at hand were and that for good or bad he was doing the right thing for those he loved and cared for. |

Another day and Kaeleron was loading with his unit onto dropships. They took more equipment than ever before. This was to be the precursor to the final invasion of all rogue Amarr territories simultaneously. All the nearby infantry, from all races and bloodlines saluted the unit as they began their ascent. Whether they were saluting returning heroes or honored fallen was yet to be seen.
The dropships leveled off and flew toward the oncoming night. The cover of darkness would allow them to penetrate soft spots in the incomplete air defenses. The craft were sturdy but scarred from the multitude of battles fought across this world. The moved lightly through the air passing over the outskirts of enemy territory. It was then their mission became clear. Bring the spirit of liberty to the population. Kaeleron looking upon the ring gifted to him he muttered a mantra to himself that he had nearly forgotten but once lived by.
"All that is essential for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing."
Kaeleron knew the true weight of these words and all of those of great thinkers and reasoners. He knew that change begins small and that the people to welcome him when he arrives will not suffer the opression of any government not of their own free will.
The Dropships cleared the air defenses of the region they were entering. The dropships, as they did before, dropped them with a command module and their supplies. The unit began to set up as before only quieter. This was their most dangerous assignment yet and they knew it. The time between touchdown and beginning to organize to local citizenry was short. These were a porud people who resisted the rogue Amarr, at their peril, at every turn. They had aready begun a resistance that engaged patrols at will in skirmishes and pitched battles. Kaeleron knew that the general and his army had already started meeting the borderland regions of enemy territory. The local warlords were already sending troops from local garrisons to the front. The local citizenry rose against them at this oppourtunity. the stories of Hammerfall were global legends of hope; and any citizen of this world gave his of her life willingly for their freedom. After all freedom is anything but free.
They have been fighting on this planet for much longer than anyone had planned on. They felt as part of this world more than any other. Kaeleron and his unit had heard the alarms ringing an hour ago, and since then waves of rogue Amarr troops assualted the command post. Kaeleron was loosing friends and soldiers each one making him more enraged. His weapon spitting plasma bolts at an ever increasing rate trying, along with his unit to stave the enemy away. They took the last were under heavy fire and were running low on cartridges for their weapons. The looked upon one another and for the first time drew their patent vibroswrods. The gentle hum of the energized blades soothed them as they raised up and charged into the oncoming horde. With reflexes and the full power of ever once of anger Kaeleron could muster he continued splaying the enemy with his elite team. The incoming troopes looked almost if in horror at the screaming rage of their targets. the volleys of fire started pouring into the team as they fell one by one. Kaeleron felt the stings and impacts of the rounds and slowly lost strength. Kaeleron dropped to his knees and fell over. He held out the holoimage of Kit as he was gasping for hi final breths. Kaeleron was immortal as a pilot, but he was in no pod, he had no technology to clone his. he was as mortal as any of his troops. Kaeleron smiled as he lost conciousness. He was as mortal as his men who died to valiantly and the last thing he was to see was the beauty of Kit Duchane. Her muttered a few words to her image and then went still.
The Amarr picked up his body and began to try to revive him. kaeleron was to valuable to let die, but they feared they may be too late. |

The bright lights seared his glassy unadjusted eyes. The air felt like knives slicing through his lungs. A few shadowy figures hovered over him in the light. He didn't have his translator but he knew enough from working in special ops that he had been revived by Amarr. It was as this realization the pain started. He could feel the familiar bite, the spasming muscles, the sound of arching. The electrical current being applied to him was uncomfortable to say the least. Even so, through his torture he could hear the voices.
"You have two days to break him Brother Alphonsus, we need the information he knows." the one figure spoke quietly.
A second figure calmly responded, " . . . but Brother Desarte the prisoner seems to have been tortured before, he is resisting the high amounts of pain we are applying already."
The first figure, now clearly one of the rogue Amarr looked at Kaeleron and nodded. As Desarte was leaving Kaeleron could feel the needles going into his veins. The rapid pulse caused by the electrical shocks hastened the drugs through his body Kaeleron could feel himself fading into a state of euphoria. He lost any knowledge of whether he was awake or not as the torture continued.
Kaeleron awoke in a slave pen where they were doing their best to treat his wounds. One of the small slave children handed him his ring of which one of the guards had dropped when stripping him of his possesions. Kaeleron looked upon in and put it safely in the seem of his slave rags. By the squanderous looks of the other slaves it was probably the only clothes he would get while being imprisoned. Kaeleron looked around and seen thousands of slaves in hundereds of pens. Some were off for their Amarr education, others to ships ready to be sent offword as soon as the skies were safe enough for the pilots. The guards came into the pen Kaeleron was kept. They were forcefully moved to begin their education of hours upon hours of scripture, the word of god, and of the two ways to become free. When the professor asked a question and he didn't like the answer, the enforcers beat the student unmercifully. Having read the Pax Amarria and from his dealings with Amarr pilots he knew enough answers to make it through the educational periods. The work periods were a different story. The slaves were made to work to purify them for god. Kaeleron had a different path, his purification was through giving up the information he knew. While the rest of his pen were working Kaeleron was being summarily tortured for hours. Being revived every time he passed out. He wasn't alone, others from his unit and others were aalso facing the same fate. Some gave up their information, some went mad from the torture, most did their duty. It was during one of these sessions that Kaeleron had his idea.
Kaeleron trained his pen not to resist, to answer to the guards respectfully, but with strength. His pen stood in military like formation when it was their turn. The Fderation forces in other pens did the same. Soon all of the pens followed in the example and the guards and wardens could never be happier as to seeing their work paying off better then they could have imagined.
Regardless, no slaves treatment greatly improved, but everyone was stronger and more resistant to their treatment. They knew the answer to give but closed their minds to the meaning. Their open minds being a fortress with it's gates unlocked and unguarded. The plan was going perfectly. Everyday less and less guards were there to keep the perfectly obediant slaves in order. More and more of the guards to fight General Chasu's incoming forces.
The rogue Amarr were faced with the general and internal patriot forces. The conflict was forcing them to pull back to more defensable positions. most of these postions a short distance from the prison in the city of Pharygon. The Capital city of the rogue controlled territories. |

The daily tortures were having their toll on Kaeleron. The physical and metal pain being only aleviated temporarily by his blackouts and his mission. No matter what he gave them no inormation. Even when they threatened to hunt and torture Kit, whom they assumed was one of the female prisoners, he did not speak. Her memory only helped him hang on that much longer until finally the tortured ended.
Federation forces were within two hours travel and headed directly to the prison. The guards had orders to start executing the prisoners so that any that would not fight for "God's Army" would not try to aid the enemy. Every single prisoner took their duty to fight for "God's Army". The guards unlocked all of the pens of the loyal slaves and began to file them out. Too few guards, too many well trained prisoners. The guards fought in vain but they were all executed. Brother Alphonsus and Desarte killed by their own devices of faith. The prisoner's knew that the true "Army of God" was marching towards them. And they will be welcomed with open arms.
General Chasu arrived and hour after the first patrols found the fortress in friendly control. He waslked among the prisoner garrison and ordered proper uniforms and weapons handed out. He looked upon Kaeleron and started to tear realizing that he was in fact very alive. The general ordered him to the medical teams for treatment and rest. Kaeleron welcomed the order and was driven to the closest hospital and healed of any of the physical injuries or sicknesses that may have befallen him.
The general's final assault was to begin in two days. First the new additions to the army had to be amalgamated into the rest of the army. The local populace taking more and more responsibility of winning liberty for their world. The starship factories crafting ships to put into orbit of the planet. The federation forces were spead into the individual units as commisars to boost morale and provide experience. With the full weight of the victory at Hammerfall being realized, the Amarr called in all the reinforcements they could muster. No one wanted to surrender this world, no one wanted to back down.
The rogue Amarr capitol was already fighting off the patriots that were converging on the city. The general's army was moving towards them fast. This was to be the final battle. The capitol was the largest most industrial city on the planet. It could easily outproduce the rest of the planet at this point in time. Surrounding the city were mounted starship turrets of various sizes. There was one thing the rogue Amarr didn't count on.
Deep within the records of the people of the world was the designs for a weapon of unparalleled firepower. Easily the size of an Armageddon, the war machine they called 'Haegemon' was built in the factories of Hammerfall and was poised to show these invaders what power they posessed.
Kaeleron, healed and rested, rejoined the marching armies. Promoted to Colonel he had five thousand soldiers under his command. Most being of the prisoners he helped free. Adorned in combat armor they began the journey to the warfront. There was no resistance only scorched land and the corpses of slain families. Each Kilometer driving the anger to fuel the coming conflict. They arrived at the outskirts of the already beseiged city under the cover of night. Making contact with the patriot forces engaging the rouges shortly after arriving, Kaeleron began setting up for the rest of the incoming army.
No one could forsee the Apocalypse class battleship entering the system. It was the last hope for the rogue Amarr to show that they had the power and grace of God to rule this world. Most of the general's fleet, no bigger than frigates, awaited the orders of the general as if nothing had changed. To them nothing had changed until the golden hull of the battleship reflected the light of the sun onto the battlefleet. |

The Apocalypse fired upon the Haegemon melting away its armor causing massive fireds inside. In turn as its contributuion the the battle the Haegemon aimed it's ion cannon skyward and shattered the hull of the Apocalypse instantly. The pieces melting in the atmoshpere raining lightly over half the planet. The Haegemon was out of service. It was now up to the remaining forces to retake the city.
The general's frigate fleet rained fire down on the capitol smashing the city guns with ease. The guns that did fire vaproized large swaths in the oncoming infantry. This, however gruesome, did not waiver their resolve. The army assualted the city sweeping through the remaider of city defenses chanting their resolve. Kaelerons unit was leading his men throught the center of the Amarr emplacements. The city would be bathed in blood before these people surrendered their will too the rogue Amarr. There was no negotiantion in their souls, they could have had any number of worlds and they picked this one. Now they will pay dearly for their error. These were not trained killers or assassins. They were the average citizen crying to bring havoc to those who threatened their liberty. Kaeleron could lead them no more than he could the stars themselves. They charged on nothing else mattered but their destiny.
The rogue Amarr general was killed when the army bombarded his command center to cinders. The world rejoiced at the news of the war's end, cities and lives destroyed, millons dead globally. No matter what the cost they were still free. But it was General Chasu who suprised everyone by denonucing his commission and choosing to stay as a citizen of that world. Many of the soldiers also declared there citizenship to that world seeing something new arrising. The ones who didnt awaited transports to leave the planet. Kaeleron looked on as he started preparing to depart for home.
Ri Chasu, no longer a general, spoke with Kaeleron who was still wearing his battered combat armor and packing two black bags identical to the ones he left with. They exchanged their goodbyes even though Ri wanted Kaeleron to stay.
"You know we are the last two Kael. Don't you?" Ri asked.
"With this world I think that will change." Kaeleron confided in his friend, "They know the value of what has started."
Ri calmly nodded and left Kaeleron to his packing.
Kaeleron strode up the brow of the transport and salutes his men one last time. They returned the salute and held it in perfect formation as their commander returned to the stars. The transport docked at the newly built construction yards. Kaeleron traversed the terminal and boarded a shuttle to get back to known space. He locked himself in his state room and stared out the window. The planet was rebuilding, this quiet world was coming alive with a new face. New defnses, ships, weapons, these people buried for when they would need them. The juggernaught is awakening and there will only be changes to come. Kaeleron looked on as the shuttle broke orbit and the world he spent so much time on vanished.
The shuttle's security shields blocked the widows as the small craft broke orbit. Kaeleron gazed upon his ring. A golden ring with a small blue and green gem, when he looked into it he felt his home. Kaeleron teared knowing finally his place. For fortune or ruin Kaeleron knew his purpose.
He finally arrive after the long, uneventful flight at Khanid Transport, Kaeleron arrives at his Atron. He goes through the procedures and flies back to his corp's headquarters. He peels the goo away and places the potted, dented, torn battle armor back on his scarred filthy body and begins the long walk home.
Kaeleron was one of the last of his kind, that is no longer true. The bickering of empires has awakened a resting destiny far from their awareness.
He strode across the station's landing pad. He thought to himself, "I wonder what Kit is up to?" |

Indeed Kaeleron, I greatly enjoyed your story. It is a great piece of military SF and finally showing the ground-combat in the eve-cluster.
Glad to see, there is still someone out there, fighting for freedom and people, not just for power and isk.

I must say honestly, i'm not a big fan of these kind of militaristic stories. Nonetheless, it was well told and a pleasant read. -----

Epilogue . . .
Kaeleron returned to his life. No one would ever beleive what had transpired. Kit's apathy turned to disdain. Druscilla's friendship turned to silence.
Kaeleron looked at his ring. He knew the legends, the history, and the difficult path before him. One cannot outrun their destiny. He looked to the stars and knew the answer was not there. The answer for all his questions was inside him.
The war showed him what it was to be human once again. |

(( I wrote this story since it is Cold War Edition even during the cold war there were small "brushfire" conflicts between the world powers. Figured this would not be any different. If anything more common. )) |
