Don't get discouraged by all the whinebears posting in GD. You guys handled the launcher problems yesterday professionally and with amazing tact considering the ignorant, vile rhetoric that was hurled at you all day long.
Thanks for your efforts in communicating and collaborating with the community to iron out the issues with the new launcher. Special thanks to CCP Atropos for handling all the rude comments made by the community with such Good grace. You're a better person than I, thats for sure.
The launcher is great by the way! Despite the endless complaining on GD, I find the drop down menu streamlines the process of logging in multiple accounts greatly. I'm hoping that this new launcher will eventually allow us to switch pilots on an account without relogging.
I suspect that if some of these endlessly complaining neckbeards would join us in the 21st century and let their Windows XP machines die GD would be a lot quieter when you make changes like this.
Anyhow, I just wanted to offer some positive feedback. CCP really is a cut above the rest, and I think some of these people forget that sometimes. |

Agree completely. You guys seem to get taken for granted a lot around here. Everybody makes mistakes and from what I've seen CCP put in an awful lot of effort to avoid and correct mistakes they may make. :) |

Fortunately, the only problem I had was the evebrowser was running in the background and wouldn't patch with the installer update(was in error details). Simply closing it and reloading the installer worked just fine. I would also like to thank the ISDs who worked overtime to lock all the launcher related threads and direct people to the proper threads.
Also, thanks to the CCP employees who endured all the "contructive" critisism offered by our fine array of forum posters.

But... its taking one ingame login screen that has bucketfulls of style and replacing it with one that is a cluttered and ugly. It does irrefutably not make login easier, its supposed to replace the old launcher AND the ingame login, and compared to that it looks very cheap. |

I can see how it might be annoying for those of you with multiple toons but overall I like the new launcher.
Perhaps allow us to choose which character we want to login with on the launcher instead of going to the character select screen, though? |

Now that the launcher is fixed, I can indeed say it is very nice.
Apart from losing all my client settings. But it took maybe 5 minutes to get all that set back up.
I've noticed a performance increase as well. I sense a stealth-patch along with the launcher. That's a Templar, an Amarr fighter used by carriers. |

I find that the launcher DOES make it easier to log in, so your opinion is definitely not "irrefutable". I also don't find the launcher ugly or cluttered, but thats really beside the point I'm making here.
My point is that this community treats CCP like crap and that for the most part it is totally unwarranted. Regardless of what you or I may think of the new launcher, the way CCP handled the problems that arose was nothing short of spectacular.
Some of the ingrates on this forum would do well to realize that candid and personable game studios are a rarity in this age of faceless entertainment conglomerates. Name one other mmo where the players get this level of interaction and communication from the devs, both in game and out. It is discouraging that some members of the community use this intimate relationship to utterly crap on everything CCP does.

Ok so changing the eve shortcut on your desktop, so it opens the exefile.exe, which bypasses the launcher alltogether definately isent easier or at most, exactly as easy, while maintaining that lovely login screen, which looks so infintely better than the launcher... is just... am i grasping for straws here? |

I didn't use the old launcher and thankfully I don't need to use this one either. Thanks for cocking up all of my settings for no good reason though. This new launcher adds zero functionality, actually broke my game client, removed my settings and won't even close on launching despite the setting being available in the options screen. |

Why dont you try taking some personal responsibility rather than lay everything at CCP's door. CCP Atropos very clearly told the community how to recover their settings. Myself and many many others had no issues successfully following these directions. I hate to break this to you, but your inability to read or comprehend instructions is not CCP's problem.
Have you even considered the possibility that your issues with the launcher might be local? My launcher installed and ran perfectly once CCP promptly fixed the issues that they openly and plainly admitted were on their end. What exactly do you expect CCP to do about your totally unhelpful and inane bleating on the forum anyhow?
Also, listen to yourself man. My god, the entitlement. Basically you are inferring that because you don't use the launcher CCP should not upgrade it to meet their business needs.
You are the exact type of insufferable whinebear I am referring to.

you really have to look at this in perspective. sure, there will always be some complaining about any small change or update. However, those complaints rarely exceed 100 pages of negative feedback. CCP would be wise the to respond to player's concerns when receiving complaints of this magnitude. |

They did respond lol. That is my point. They did an amazing job fielding the community concerns. Go read the abuse that they endured in the consolidated thread on the topic. It blows my mind that people can treat such an amazing dev team with such utter disrespect. |

i completely agree with the disrespect, that kinda stuff is uncalled for and unhelpful. but (disrespecting comments aside) some could argue that it is precisely this level feedback from the community that keeps the devs and CCP at the top of their game. if they didn't have the player base jumping all over them when they screwed up, they wouldn't be the same company. in fact, they have said this themselves, on several occasions. |

Yes, but its a different concern isent it? They responded quickly to a problem and kudoos for that, that doesnt change the fact that the launcher is still problematic.

One of the biggest problems is, we've reported so many issues with this friggin launcher on the test server. Instead of fixing them, they just launch to live servers randomly. This SNAFU never should have happened at all. |

I really miss the thematic log in screen. While I multibox and I'd prefer not to see it on my alt accounts, I loved seeing it on my main account every time I logged in. I think CCP took away from the atmosphere of the game by removing it. Setting the mood when you do an activity is important and CCPs intro screens always setup my game play sessions quite well.
I'd suggest they return it and have it on by default but enable an option to turn it off. That way I'll turn it off for my alt accounts and keeping going with the main account. |

change your shortcut to start exefile.exe, in the eve online/bin. Starts up the classic login screen :) without going through a launcher, its actually easier to logging that way IMO. |

Don't mistake me. I am not suggesting that we don't keep CCP on their toes. I wholeheartedly agree that the EvE community has had a HUGE impact on the development of this game. That is part of what is so amazing about CCP and this game. In all my years I have never played a game where the developers so intently listened to their subscribers as to actually hire staff from among them.
All I'm saying is that we should be a little more grateful and give some credit where it is due. They made an error, big deal, welcome to being human. They very quickly owned up to it publicly and took exhaustive steps to correct it which were, by and large successful. What more can we as a community ask for in this situation?
Nobody is served by treating CCP with disrespect or by threatening to unsub your 75 accounts. This isn't Incarna, it is just a new launcher that you aren't even required to use and is no where near as bad as some make it out to be. I was able to effortlessly log all 5 of my accounts in last night, switch accounts, etc etc with absolutely no extra effort than the old launcher. In fact, even faster because I can just select my accounts from the drop down in the launcher instead of waiting for a new loading screen to open.

Well except for EA.
I happily pay CCP to continue developing this amazing game. They deserve every penny of it just for having to listen to moaning whiny gits like yourself.
Who said anything about "goodness of their hearts"? What a ridiculous statement from an aptly named character.
They handled a potentially adverse situation with professionalism and courtesy, and I am merely thanking them for that. I am also disparaging posters who make ignorant, disrespectful and baseless comments towards a dev team that clearly cares a great deal about this game and this community.
Btw tard, they did apologize. It's never enough for you folks from the entitlement crowd though is it? |
