I had the same launcher issues as everyone on May 21st. When I click the launcher icon, the launcher fails to launch.
Yesterday (May 21), I first tried the repair tool. Didn't work. I followed the instructions as per http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/EVE_Launcher_Issues_and_Workarounds. Didn't work. I uninstalled Eve, and did a completely new install. Didn't work. So, I have been running the game from the exefile.
I tried to launch the launcher today (May 22nd) and it still wouldn't launch. So I rerun the repair tool, and still nothing.
I have attached the repair tool log below. Can someone please tell me what I may have missed? Or is this still on CCP?
Thanks!

This looks like a permission issue. Can you try running the repair tool (or launcher for that matter) with admin privileges? Senior Programmer Team Special Circumstances Friend of Walking Avatars |

I've got the same problem. Windows 8, Eve is installed on a different drive than my OS is (if that's relevant).
I tried running the launcher through compatibility mode as well as in administrator mode, neither worked - the launcher would open in the task manager for a second or too and then close. The same thing happened when I opened eve.exe in the CCP folder. Same thing happened with safe mode. I ran the repair tool in both admin and regular modes, neither helped. I was able to get eve to open through the exefile located in the bin folder, although it wanted me to keep patching the same patch (this one) until I restarted my pc.
This issue also happened yesterday, again I was able to open it through the exefile. Hope this helps! |

I am having this exact same problem - Windows 8, Eve on a different drive, launcher won't start from steam or directly from the folder. Have to run the repair too to patch and then I can go straight to the EXE (though it tries to patch multiple times before it works) - is there a fix coming for this?
EDIT: Manually updated the launcher from here: http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/EVE_Launcher_Issues_and_Workarounds fixed the issue for me |

Windows 8 64bit
I had a problem where the launcher would not launch at all after clicking on the EVE desktop icon. I tried to repair it but it did nothing. I also noticed in the repair program that it was intentionally skipping the \launcher folder for some reason. After I saw that, I rummaged through EVE Online\launcher\cache and saw an "updater" file and decided to try that. It fixed it with no problems after.

EVE doesn't launch at all for me. No launcher, no eveexe launch. Nothing works. Tried everything suggested. Admin, reinstall, repair, everything. ---{==================================== }---- -á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á-á DCS: A-10C Warthog Pilot

My launcher launched twice, but usually will not launch. Not sure that I did anything differently the times it worked, so yeah... |

Yep, SOLVED.
It was not a permissions issue because I ran the launcher and repair tool in admin mode.
Maybe CCP can add using the updater in "Program Files > CCP > EVE > Launcher > Cache" as a solution, if the launcher is failing to launch.
Cheers. |

I have the same problem. I deleted my EVE cache and it worked out OK. Just the problem is I've deleted my cache again.
In fact the only way I can now play is to delete my cache every time after I close EVE otherwise it won't launch again. Nice work CCP. |

Does the "updater" program not work for you? Maturity, one discovers, has everything to do with the acceptance of not knowing. |

Same here, followed these steps and fixed the launcher. Surprisingly, the repair tool accomplished nothing. |

Indeed. For fun, I used the repair program after I had already done the "updater" file and had it working properly.
The repair program, after I ran it, gave me the same problem - the launcher would not run when clicked on. I then again did the "updater" and it worked again.
Not a clue but the "repair" program doesn't seem to... repair...

It fixed mine also. The repair tool may just focus on the eve.exe, while the launcher really only calls the eve.exe and therefore needs a separate repair. A dev might want to look into putting a shortcut to the launcher repair near the eve.exe repair. |

The Launcher has sometimes the habit to get stuck hidden in the background, so when u try launch the *uguh* launcher it wont do anything.
Make sure you have eve and the launcher killed completely by rebooting the computer, use task manager or use " taskkill /IM launcher.exe /F " and/or " taskkill /IM exefile.exe /F " at command prompt (win logo + R -> cmd [enter], not sure u need to run as administrator) and try start the "EVE Online Launcher link" in the EVE folder
oh and CCP, can u add the option to to allow close the launcher by right clinking on the launcher @ task bar, nothing is showing up (at windows XP at least) |

I've been having the same issues with the launcher under Windows 8 32bit: only the title bar would appear with white window and it would 'Not respond' after a few seconds. I've been running the game from the bin folder but today's patch needs the launcher to do something. Now, I cannot play the game anymore.
The admin privilege does't work. The repair tool doesn't fix it. The launcher cache updater program does something but still gets the launcher not responding. I have yet to try clearing the cache. |
