I think that a Skill Point remaining number needs to be added to the each skill in the pilots book. This will allow each pilot to see exactly how many skill points are left that they need to train for.
The next idea is too add earning skill points as a reward option for missions flown.
You would be able to choose which you prefer;
Ship bounties - you would receive the normal payout
or Skill Point Bounties - Skill Point Bounties would replace the Ship Bounty Payout and would very depending upon the level of mission and ship type
Trading Ship Bounties for Skill Points would only occur in missions where combat is involved.
For Example a Level One Security Mission
Frigate - 15 to 45 skill points ( each level of ship employs more powerful weapons would have more skill points assigned to them) Destroyer - 46 - 75 skill points Cruisers - 76 - 100 skill points Battle Cruisers - 101 - 150 skill points Battleships - 151 - 200 skill points
For each level up to level 5 a 1% bonus would be applied to each skill point base.
Level 2 frigate - 22- 67 skill points Level 3 frigate - 33 - 150 skill points Level 4 frigate - 73- 225 skill points Level 5 frigate - 109 - 337 skill points
I think that such a skill point based system will pilots to train faster and enjoy the game a lot more.
To reduce the farming mechanic of the system the Skill Point based payout would be able to be used once every 5 Storyline Missions. This means that you have to have completed 80 missions in order to be able to collect skill points from combat orientated missions.
Once you have completed a storyline mission where you have opted to collect skill points you would not be able to run the same storyline mission twice for the same agent where you would collect Skill Points.
Or maybe even better yet is that there should be agents where Skill Points are awarded per ship instead of bounties or that once a pilot reaches a 10.0 status with an agent they |

More politely...
One of the biggest draws to EVE, and one of the biggest differences, is the grind free nature of progressing in the game.
You skill in real time, even offline, and the decisions on what you decide to train stick with you your whole career.
There is no fast track, no leaping ahead, no falling behind.
Diminishing returns keeps you competitive with people who have been playing the game years more than you have. The young character focuses and becomes skilled with a single ship, the older character has the advantage of superior selection for any engagement, but isn't better at any given fit than the newbie can achieve in just a short time.
EvE is a unique game, somewhere between shooter and MMO. The skills matter, but you can still die endlessly with very little consequence. Don't fly what you can't afford to lose, become skilled in flying what you can, and you will be on even ground with an 8 year vet.
In solo engagements larger ships with higher skill requirements are all but helpless before a fast moving frigate. It may take you a while to kill him, and if he is fit for PvE you might never break his active repair... but the decision to engage and the decision to disengage will be yours, and only if he is both skilled and lucky will he pose a significant threat to your ship.
In a Fleet those same fast ships are vital to the fleet for tackling opponents to prevent them from warping off, to engage smaller ships to screen for the larger ones (to an extent, depending on tactics and engagement ranges, and how big we are talking about).
The bigger shinier ships aren't better, just different. The way you fly changes when you step out of frigates and into destroyers. It changes again when you step into cruisers, and again as you step in each larger ship class, or even weapon system, or fleet role. But each choice is meaningful, and many decide never to step into larger ships at all, as mobility is very important to engagements and the larger ships do not bring as much additional firepower or tank as they lose in mobility at each step.
You will die a lot, and probably to more skilled opponents. That is EVE. Much like playing Battlefield, you don't expect to make it through alive, just for your team to accomplish the goal. The MMO aspects make this a deeper and more difficult process than just spawning and selecting new free gear. |

Are you always so offensive in your posts? This is the third I've read so far where you've just been quite rude. Although I have to admit to having a little smile on my face at the "rainbow guns of doom". My Feature\Idea:-á Fast Character Switching "XP Stylee"

No. We do not need or require, grind mechanics to be introduced into Eve.

So all I have to do is buy a mission bot and I get as many SP's as I can handle!!!
Sign me up![/sarcasm]
But seriously, why do people actually think that SP matters? MMOs come and go, but Eve remains.-á -Garresh- |

At least you had the decency to reply to me in a respectful manner, I appreciate that. Some of these posts anger me so much but I try to temper my replies where I can so people will read my objection. Take care out there Khan. My Feature\Idea:-á Fast Character Switching "XP Stylee"

As soon as I saw this, having it be pvp based came to mind but I saw how easily it could be abused. Although that would've been 100 times better than this Idea. so what exacly would be your conversion rates for the wh'ers, the pirates and the 0.0 peeps not running pirate agents in npc 0.0 op?
Examples:
How many rats and pvp kills does a 0.0 person have to kill to have the next say 20 rats converted to sp not isk.
How many kills for a pirate (as pirates unless fixing sec status don't even kill rats by and large)?
Besides the issue eve is not about grinding mobs for xp, this is the issue with this idea...as a quick search would have shown. Not everyone runs missions,
Hell not every char shoots stuff in this game. How would inventing/building chars get their sp's for example. How many runs (invention, production, research) would this char have to spam to get extra sp?

Actually, giving players a little bit of discretionary SP as something other than an apology or the result of changing skills might be interesting. It could let players get through some skills faster or pick up secondary skills while training primary ones.
Before anyone tries to take a dump all over what I just said like a rabid bear that just got into the hemlock consider that I didn't say a thing about how those discretionary SP would enter the system. Providing them as rewards for doing missions or killing NPCs would, of course, be a bad idea. I'm a complete carebear myself and I'd sooner see CCP go bankrupt and the servers melted down for paperweights than that.
Methods for introducing such "discretionary SP" could be allowing us to earmark some of our trained SP for being put into the general purpose pool or to gain small amounts for being active (shooting, looting, scamming, scooting, not cloaky AFK while at work) in the game with reasonable caps on monthly gains so that only the most disinterested "players" really miss out on much. Either idea is open to all players and "fair" across the board without allowing grind-style MMO mechanics to enter the game.
That said I don't see this as much more than intellectual exercise as I don't expect CCP to ever consider implementing anything of the sort no matter how much in line with EVE's preexisting mechanics it is and how little it resembles "traditional" MMO mechanics. |
