whenever i close the launcher i have to go into task manager and manually shut down the launcher.exe program otherwise it still resides in memory. please fix. |

Stop playing on ancient **** PCs that can't handle the launcher.
Seriously CCP should just cut support for you luddites, we could have so many better features then. |

Unlike you, not everyone lives in their mom's basement, and have other more important things to spend their non-burger flipping wages on such as having a car (beats mom's minivan anyday), mortgages, bills etc.
The launcher is a pile of crap, everybody knows it, it's poorly written and badly implemented. It doesn't close properly, I close it manually with the close X and it's still using 3,808K memory when it shouldn't be running.
Yes this isn't a lot of memory, compared to the client, but the point is it shouldn't be there at all.
So wind your neck in a bit, and realise that not everyone has spare money to spend on uber PC's and have other more important things to spend their money on.
And the funny thing is, I don't see any reference in the OP's post about his machine not being able to handle the extra launchers residing in the memory, just saying that it still resides in memory.

i have this same problem and im using a completely ******** pc when it comes to hardware specs, so no, its not related to low specs... i narrowed the problem down to my antivirus. it seems that the internal browser the launcher uses gets hung up when my AV tries to scan the websites it access.
or maybe something else... but whatever it is, it goes away when i add an exception in the av for the launcher exec.
also, i been using SiSi regularly this last few days and i don't have this problem, even w/o adding and exception on the AV. so maybe we should wait until they roll the odyssey launcher to tq. :p |

Some threads in the launcher doing something magical seems to have a really long time-out. If you go away and pick a fight with a nun the launcher will have closed when you come back. Until CCP fixes this you just have to close it through the task manager.

You know what, its amazing. There's this little gear wheel in the upper right corner of the launcher window that has this option you can check to close the launcher after you start the game. There's also a check box for an "Auto Play" so after you input your log in information, the game starts automatically. You know what else is cool, you can even combine the two!! (0_0)
But seriously, why don't you just do a little more research and double check things before complaining. |

I wasn't saying read the thread, I was saying pay closer attention to the launcher, and yes, it actually was very simple to figure out. Its not a bug and the launcher isn't broken (atleast not anymore). Almost all launchers for games I've played have a settings option, and almost all of them look identical with a gear wheel being used for that settings option. WoW, Scarlet Blade, LOTR Online, Guild Wars 2, all have them. |

As some have already pointed out. It's in the settings (top right) of the launcher window. Bottom right of the launcher window is a check box so that client will start as soon as you enter the password, no need to click the 'play' button.

The EvE Launcher murdered my parents. Please donate ISK so that I may receive the training I need to avenge their deaths. To carve a successful niche for yourself in EVE you need to be able to out sell, out produce, out fight,-á out run, or out wit your competitors. If you can do none of the above, your only option is to complain on the forums that somehow you are at a disadvantage using the exact same tool set-áas the rest of the player base. |
