I would like to suggest second skill queue for a single character (something like recently added feature for parallel character training on a single account). New players would gain ability to learn thing faster and to actually be able to participate in pvp, industry etc. Older players could train some of the extra skills that would otherwise be skipped because of the more needed core skills. Feature would need to be balanced but for the sake of the suggestion let's say you could buy second skill training for a PLEX for 30 days. Now i am aware that this may already be suggested in the past and rejected from CCP but now after 10 years of EVE there are players with 100m+ SP and new players can hardly compare in any field any time soon. I would really like to hear what others and CCP think about this.

Not-so-stealth "SP for PLEX" thread. Please biomass yourself. New player with 12-15mil sp on inty/AF is as effective as vet with 100mil SP, the only difference is that vet has better choice of ships to fly. |

What is this obsession with SP's? Give up already! It's not the amount of SP's you have or how long you've been IG it's about experience and ability.
-1. Just no!
EDIT: EVE has been like this for 10 years...do you think it will change this bare fundamental and risk another Jita Riot? How disadvantaged would everyone who started before this proposed change be if they brought this in that had played for 10\7\3\1 year? Still a big no! OP: Biomass, uninstall, cancel your subscriptions and strongly consider getting yourself sterilized. Just like I said to the last person who tried to suggest we should be able to buy SP.
No.
Additionally, only a small fraction of your skillpoints ever come to bear at a single time. People get too fixated on the total number of skillpoints and don't bother to think about how Large Energy Turrets 5 doesn't help at all when you're flying a Drake or how Ice Mining 5 doesn't help at all when you're doing T2 research or T3 reverse engineering in a POS. |

No, this is a horrible idea and it would kill the game. Ingame ISK and items are allready pay-to-win, if we made SP like that what's the point of even playing? |

things should be tweaked i'm not saying that, but person saying that 100m SP toon is same as 10m sp can go and try to reroll alt and tell me how long will it take to do lvl 4 missions effectively. Maybe this feature should only be available for the first year od untill 20m SP, something like that just to make things faster to learn. Few of my friends tried eve and they like it very much, but when they realized it will take them a year just to be able to join me in fleets they got discouraged to continue. |

And as a new player you will pull ISK from where? lvl 1 missions? And no you can't to in effectively with 2m sp... You will warp out and in loose cap on booster/armor rep etc. Been there tried that. I've given up then, got a year subscription put some skills in evemon and just logged when i needed to put skills in a q. For a year! |

You're missing the point.
This is what sets EVE apart from other MMOs.
If your friends are into instant gratification or real time fast paced warfare, tell them to go and play COD, BF3, etc instead.
Each game serves its purpose. |

Pray tell, just how much of my 175 Mil SP do I use to fly an Assault Frig?
How long do you think it will take, for a new player to get into an Assault frig? With very competent skills btw.

Well it takes some 30days just to sit in AF, since you have 175m SP i think you have almost everything on perfect (gunnery, navigation, fitting skills, tank etc) and that takes 330days without implants and remap. Anyone can sit in an AF and get killed.... |

Confirming new players don't have enough isk so they should use a PLEX which costs 550mil on skill training.

Everyone dies at some point, that's the part of learning to play the game. Even if we take your ridiculous 330 days, that means someone could be far better than me in less than a year and I've been here for 9. So much for not being able to compete.

Anyone can sit in an AF and get killed.... I did some math for you OP...
To have nearly perfect skills to fly an armor-turret PvP Assault Frigate requires...
(Note: the below values are approximations)
Electronics level 5 - 5 to 7 days Propulsion Jamming level 5 - 7 to 10 days Engineering level 5 - 5 to 7 days Energy Grid Upgrades level 5 - 10 to 12 days
Small Hybrid/Energy/Projectile Turret level 5 - 5 to 7 days Gunnery level 5 - 5 to 7 days Weapon Upgrades level 5 - 10 to 12 days Advanced Weapon Upgrades level 4 - 5 to 7 days Small [Short range] Turret Specialization level 4 - 5 to 7 days Controlled Bursts level 5 - 5 to 7 days Motion Prediction level 5 - 5 to 7 days Rapid Firing level 5 - 5 to 7 days Sharpshooter level 5 - 5 to 7 days Surgical Strike level 5 - 10 to 12 days
Hull Upgrades level 5 - 5 to 7 days Mechanic level 5 - 5 to 7 days Repair Systems level 5 - 5 to 7 days EM Armor Compensation level 4 - 4 to 6 days Thermal Armor Compensation level 4 - 4 to 6 days Kinetic Armor Compensation level 4 - 4 to 6 days Explosive Armor Compensation level 4 - 4 to 6 days Jury Rigging level 4 - 2 to 5 days Hybrid/Energy/Projectile Rigging level 4 - 2 to 5 days Armor Rigging level 4 - 2 to 5 days
Afterburner level 5 - 5 to 7 days Evasive Maneuvering level 5 - 10 to 12 days Fuel Conservation level 4 - 5 to 7 days High Speed Maneuvering level 4 - 5 to 7 days Navigation level 5 - 5 to 7 days Warp Drive Operation level 5 - 5 to 7 days
[Racial] Frigate level 5 - 5 to 7 days Assault Ships level 4 - 5 to 7 days Spaceship Command level 5 - 10 to 12 days
Using the upper end values we get: ~220 days (or ~10 mil skill points)
Bear in mind though that this is starting from scratch. Some of the above skills apply to all ships (including destroyers, cruisers, and above) and never need to be trained again... which significantly cuts down the time it takes to cross train over into other ships and their respective weapon systems (from ~220 days to a mere 7 to 40 days).
tl;dr...
Character-wise, the only disadvantage that newbies have lies in the "core skills" (see: the skills that affect all ships). Once newbies get past those skills (which takes a little under 90 days) things become MUCH easier. Change isn't bad, but it isn't always good. Sometimes, the oldest and most simple of things can be the most elegant and effective. |
