One of best guys I ever meet in EVE ,and guy who knew a lot and was not afraid of anyone.
Abusing system ?Well if you have 3 days of ghost training and many people know that ,than what is to abuse there. They never said you cant do what he did ,so I really don't see what is wrong then. You cant blame people using feature that is there ,so CCP should fix the problem then accuse player for abusing.
Anyway ,from my part he will be missed. Also knowing him how long he tried to quit EVE this is maybe best way to do it.
I can only say tnx Vilnius for all help that you gave to new players in EVE . |

well in all honesty, and from an outsider's point of view, the person in question seemed like it was, indeed, using a loophole on a, perhaps relatively harmless mechanic used for people to use PLEX in case of the sub to drop. While I do agree that, maybe some sort of "entitlement" might come with veterancy, that does not make a person exempt of every rule laid out by EULA and CCP, in which case CCP being the owner of the game, having complete and full authority on who, how and when is something in the wrong.
TL;DR: CCP looked at what he was doing and deemed him as using something that wasn't intended for, and thus restrained him from using said mechanic.
personally, CCP's reaction was quite mild.

Eurydia Vespasian wrote:i don't think i've ever had turnip soup.
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes
Ingredients:
1 lb white turnips (about 4 medium turnips) 1 medium Russet (or other starchy) potato 2 Tbsp unsalted butter 1 medium onion, peeled and roughly chopped 1 clove garlic, peeled and crushed -+ cup dry white wine 1 qt vegetable broth or stock Kosher salt, to taste Ground white pepper, to taste Preparation:
Cut turnips into (roughly) same-sized pieces, about -+ inch to 1 inch thick, depending on diameter. Don't worry about precision GÇö the soup is going to be pur+¬ed anyway. We just want the pieces to be of uniform size so that they cook evenly.
Peel the potato and cut it into pieces about the same size as the turnips.
In a heavy-bottomed soup pot, heat the butter over a low-to-medium heat.
Add the onion, garlic and turnips and cook for 2-3 minutes or until the onion is slightly translucent, stirring more or less continuously.
Add the wine and cook for another minute or two or until the wine seems to have reduced by about half.
Add the stock and the potato. Increase the heat to medium-high and bring to a boil. Then lower the heat and simmer for 15 minutes or until the turnips and potatoes are soft enough that they can easily be pierced with a knife. Don't let them get mushy, though.
Remove from heat and pur+¬e in a blender, working in batches if necessary.
Tip: Use care when processing hot items in a blender as the hot steam can sometimes blow the blender lid off. Start on a slow speed with the lid slightly ajar to vent any steam, then seal the lid and increase the blending speed.
Return pur+¬ed soup to pot and bring to a simmer again, adding more broth or stock to adjust the thickness if necessary.
Season to taste with Kosher salt and white pepper.
Garnish with a toasted crouton and serve right away. Makes about 1-+ quarts (6 8-oz. servings) of soup.
Optional: Stir -+ cup hot cream into the soup just before serving. Note: The soup can be thickened with rice instead of potato. Just substitute about 1/3 cup of uncooked rice for the potato, and simmer the soup until the rice is soft.
Delicious.

A game that has been out for this long is going to have a certain amount of it's subbers start to get that entitled feeling. This is one of those examples. It's probably good that he has left since as he stated he was "looking" for a reason to quit EVE and it appears pretty clear that he was successful in "creating" said reason. Looking forward in EVE not backward at entitled embittered eve players from the past.
I don't know if entitlement really plays in. EVE has always been about cutting corners. I don't blame the player base for it. I blame the company that fosters it. Everything about this game is about Min/Max efficiency. |

So that's what he was doing, the outcome is not surprising then.
They did away with ghost training in the past as people used to unsubscribe whilst training long skills then re-subscribe once the skill had completed.

When you activate the hours for plex it CLEARLY states it is for the sole purpose to do just that , activate a plex.It actually also states that if you do NOT activate a plex in that time this option is turned off to start with so he was allready Lucky to somehow manage to do it more then once.
So if he did not activate a plex then he is NOT using the feature what it is created for.
Unless he can't read he has no excuse.

The OP wasn't specifically about anyone, if you knew Vilnius then the link would make sense, if not then the question remains; How do the relationships that we form here in New Eden compare to those in the real world? Turnip soup is a perfectly valid answer. I do think they are quite opposite to the real world. I think a lot of people do things in here they would not do in RL and vice versa. We connect to other people based on what they do. Furthermore we connect to people in eve because they behave like they hardly would in RL...

When one wants to quit playing, they generally just quit playing. If he needed an excuse then he clearly has some underlying issues with computer game addiction.

Humans are genetically predisposed to virtual reality addiction. We have co-evolved with our tools, and our relationship to them is hardwired at this point. The effects of this can be seen as people wander around thumb-typing, or even sit through a nice dinner with a loved one, both of them intently interacting with their smart phones.
We all experience dopamine reinforcement of our virtual lives to the point that we are distracted from the real world at some level. It is true that most people manage to get their real life mostly sorted out even if they have to stop playing for a while; but for anyone who is fully engaged with Eve there will always be memories of victories and defeats and time spent with friends, we all have a history here that we can't just "forget." Along with those triggers come the feelings of dopamine reinforced behavior.
To come back to your point, I think its a bit more complicated than "they generally just quit playing."
