I had an idea the other day whislt ratting , drones get damaged a lot during usage but you cannot repair them unless you dock or use remote armor /hull repair mods to repair them , why not introduce a drone repair paste like nanite repair paste for heat damaged modules , that can repair drones on the move in the drone bay , saving having to dock to repair them etc, you would need new skill mabey for it and new paste etc , this also would be very usefull for carrier and super carrier pilots having to repair fighters or fighter bombers
Anyway that's just an idea I had :P |

well yeah whatever as long as it works on drones in your bay , atm nanite paste only works on heat damage modules so either they make it work on damaged drones also or introduce new drone rep paste or something.. |

Meh, if they do that, then I want to be able to do remote module repair, we could have heat logis....
If you fly a drone boat, you should be able to make a fit work with 5 m3 set aside for a light armor bot Now if we had light hull repair drones.....

yes but using a light drone bot to repair the drones is a lot of trouble a paste or something would be much easier to use , esspesially for carriers there really needs to be a better easier way to repair drones on the run... |

yes but that's a long winded way to do it using a repair option on right click would be much faster and easier..
also this would not just be for carriers it would be for other drone ships aswell |

hmm and these drones are in game yet? ... no just add the repair option on right click menu in the drone bay and make it use up nanite paste easy , don't know why that isn't a good idea |

Should take twice as long as using Logistic Drones I think just because the ability to instantly heal Drones would be bad and unbalanced. When taking my Golem for a spin I always pack 2 x Light Armour Drones just for this purpose and it takes my Golem a good 20-30 seconds to lock the little buggers to get the reps on.
Repping on the go is a good idea and I'm for the flexibility of using "Drone Repair Paste" but it shouldn't just be for Carriers if it is added to game.
EDIT:
Also perhaps you could have a new paste called Drone Repair Paste that is based off of Nanite Repair Paste...like a T2 version? Requires NRP as a base component and something else like Miniature Electronics (keeping with the PI theme) and a Skill to go with that reduces wastage of the base components and another to be able to use the DRP. (Oh it almost spells DERP ha ha, sorry.) My Feature\Idea:-á Fast Character Switching "XP Stylee"

No I wasn't saying just for carriers infact I want it for my golem lol but it would be useful for all ships that use drones , make nanite paste usable of drones in the bay also would save a lot of trouble repairing them :D |

Even easier is to simply update drones so they have some active repair on all 3 bars.
That way when you bring them in they fix themselves over time, but you can't pop them back out fully healed (shields probably should, like a ship in station, be fully recharged) without further taking the step of remote repair. |

Not really. I'm not talking about massive amounts of repair, just enough that when you bring them in and keep them in your hold for a few minutes they will be fixed.
Anytime you have that kind of leisure with drones, you had time to go to the station and repair them or something. Enough that you can take a drone boat and actually make use of the fact that you carry reloads, giving them time to rest and be redeployed.
Other than instant death to AI these days, the biggest killer of drones will always be leaving the little bastards out in space

Yeah... I said active repair, but what I have always envisioned and suggested is more along the lines of the passive repair rate of shields being applied across all 3 bars. If drones do see a change like this, modules and perhaps skills to increase the rate would be welcome. |

drones shields repair anyway its the hull and armor that needs a repair feature so right click repair in bay that takes a while but does the job would be good and perhapse it uses up nanite paste or something ... |

At the cost of drones, it does not need paste.
A lot of ideas for this have been floated over the years. Most commonly people just want to see health status of drones from the interface window. That way you could at least see which drones to pop out and repair when the action is over.
I am personally a fan of making it an inherent ability of the drone. Simply assume they have a micronized hull and armor rep built in. Modules to increase these base stats are welcome, though I'm perfectly fine with using remote rep modules to do the job.
If you are using drones as a little back up dps and frigate control then the 'passive' repair rate similar to shields would be appropriate. You could not immediately redeploy, but with a bit of time you would be good to go. If you are a dedicated drone user, drone boats can afford the slots for remote armor and hull repairers.
Being able to see damaged drones in the bay would be a huge help though. |

no need for a new paste. that will just bog the data base down even more like the 50 different auto targeters and whatnot. just allow us to use repair paste on drones.
or, put a small armor repper on your drones while in space. if yer running a golem, u have extra highs.
while using my rattlesnake, i have a small armor repper. while rats are shooting my drones, i lock em up and the battle over the drone commenses. they shoot, i rep, back and forth. at 100km, they dont do much damage so i can keep up. if they start getting the better of him, i pull him, stick him back out, lock and rep him while they shoot me.
