Hi!
I'm planning to start vanguards with a couple of friends and I would like to know what would be a perfect Vanguard fleet composition ?
With 3 logi and 7 dps or 2 logi and 8 DPS ? (I'm including 2 OGB)
I was told Vindicator was the best DPS ship in incursions, is it better to have everyone in Vindicators ?
I would like to go Shield fleet with Basilisks
Looking forward to some advices !
Thanks in advance :) |

Perfect?
1 Scimi / 9 DPS custom talored to the site at hand (shield tank).
The Normal , however, is 2 Logi / 8 DPS.
Also, Vindis are not everywhere because they suck at range, and only NCOs have good spawns for Vindis. They do make a killer drone boat though, and having at least two for frig duty is a wise idea. |

Two 1400 Machs with guns grouped 2-2-3 (Alpha Niarjas and a Tamma or two) Two 800 Machs to cut down anything that beats the Alpha Two Tachy Nightmares to clean up anthing the Arties and Autos miss. Two Vindis with webs to slow what made it through and clean up the site. One MWD Scimitar to drop ore hack sites and keep the shields topped up. Nightmares and Machs run Large Shield Transporter and keeps the Logi Locked on the second row to top it up as needed.
4 to 5 minutes sites in OTA and NMC, 5 to 6 minute NCO's You my friend,-ádefy the whole theory of Natural Selection. |

In a 12 man fleet what would be an ideal dps composition ?
Including 2 Scimis, that leaves 10 dps, with your setup we already got 8.
Which 2 dps would you add ? For a static fleet 2 more vindis mach or nightmare ?.
Thanks a lot

any more than two Vindicators is a waste, especially if everyone is doing their job right. so another alpha mach or tracking nightmare would be the most helpful.

T3 webbing loki was really useful but the webbing Vindicator outshines it by so much that they were phased out of most fleets. Ultimately you want as much DPS and tank on the field as is possible and with T3's your always sacrificing one or the other.

Don't do 12 people. Losing the isk isn't worth it. |

IDK if a 12 man fleet saves enough time they will make more ISK per hour than a 10 man fleet that takes longer (tested and proved in ISN) also a 12 man is less likely to lose contest.

I like 3 logi and an anchor ship even for VG's.
Why? Because losing shiny ships sucks.
It's also how all the drama, fights, corp issues arise.
So here goes my attempt at the perfect VG fleet:
3 Baslisk. (( Cap Triangle ))
1 Rattlesnake (( Here come the haters but the RS can now anchor a vg with ease and still put out 1241 dps! )) The anchor should have a NOS and one ECM. (( Holds aggro like mad and makes the logi's job easy as hell ))
2 Vindi's with webs.
2 Mach's with TP's.
2 Nightmares one with tp one with web.
This is setup as a performance fleet v.s. competition fleet. You get more out of the group using web's and target painters then you do with tracking computers. The reason you don't see it often is those same things help any other group that jumps into the same VG with you.
You'll lose a few more competitions, You'll complete VG's shockingly fast. You will achieve this with little to no stress even when D/C's happen. If you think it's too safe drop a logi and have the RS with a Energy Transfer to back up during D/C. You won't have those ship losses that no one every likes to figure in the isk/hr ratio they brag about. (( You know because it was just some dude who lost the ship in the fleet not them. Real figures will put that isk/hr ratio change at over 4% averaged across fleets )) You also won't have the emotion rage quits in your group.
Main thing to keep in mind is it has to be a highly trained rattlesnake pilot or don't even bother. (( 45 mil SP would be the lowest I'd even consider ))
Side bonus: You will know guys in rattlesnakes who can tank the bigger incursion sites instead of being desperate for anchors and settling for low sp players in navy scorpions lowering the isk per hour in them. (( Hint: these are the sites you want to run when only one incursion is up and the V.G.'s are overflowing with competition.
As much as the lets get everyone with high tracking and go pure DPS and have ships pop every so often may sound fun it's better to look long term and focus on incursions as a whole.
All the old hate on rattlesnakes started when the could barely pass 900 dps and they were still damn good anchors and did a hell of a job when a vet flew it. It's over 1200 dps now. Time to wake up and use a real anchor/tank even in VG's. |

Thanks for all your input guys.
I will probably go 2 OGB 2 scimis and 10 dps (2vindi 4 mach 4nm) to maximise the DPS output.
Will post the feedback once we get started. Training takes a long time ! |
