Ships hulls could have registration plates that contain the following information:
- Date of Manufacture
- Manufacturer
- Manufacturer note
- Location of Manufacture
It has been my thought that most things in the far future will be much like they are now. Our vehicles include all this information within them. True car aficionados love these details.
Imagine having:
the oldest known rifter in existence. a legion built in the Rooks & Kings home system a snarky note from one of the most prolific builders in the game "This end up!"
This small database hit would add quite a bit of depth to the game. Of course, all these would have to be exposed through contracts for collectors to search for individual attributes they like - and bulk purchasers would never know what they are going to get.
+1 if you like the idea. If you've heard this idea before somewhere else please post a link. |

Location of manufacture could be an intel no-no, but whats on the 'plate' could be optional fields. Aside from that, would be kind of neat to 'sign' the items we produce, and even cooler if you could in some sense find out where it ends up once it's blown up.

That would require all produced ships to be singletons rather than a simple +1 in a generic item stack. The database hit would not be small and would entail a pretty significant rewrite ofGǪ ohGǪ pretty much the entire item management system.
Would it be neat? Yes. Is it feasible? No. GÇ£If you're not willing to fight for what you have in GëívGëí you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.GÇ¥

This is a cool idea, and can be usefull for a new type of market warfare, for exemple, you can manufacture a ship and make it so it can never be used by X entity/corporation/alliance, or pilots with negative sec status. R Tape Loading Error |

Considering we can name ships, have damaged ships, this is not much of an issue. It's just a more elaborate name field. Repack the ship, plate goes poof. |

If your megas live long enough to gain any significant age you're doing it wrong. Or very right. But probably wrong. Save the Domi model! Spacewhales should be preserved. |

Sure, but that's not what the OP is talking about. In those cases, the item is already a singleton (and much more cumbersome for the database to handle). That transition happens when you assemble the ship GÇö you take a generic item and create a unique instance of it GÇö which means that there is still no way to track the manufacturer or any of the other characteristics the OP is asking for.

Diplomatic Incident (Better known as The Delve Mega) lasted 245 days and took part in every fleet from Maelstrom Alpha fleets to tengu fleets to Hawk roams. There was a jabber broadcast when she died.
Delve 2 went down today at the ripe old age of 121 days old. |

it just requires 1 new field (Date+serial#), this can be referenced in the show info sub routine. so there is little added load. |

Greetings capsuleer,
Unfortunately your idea is neither new nor original.
Refer to Ship Manufacture Tracking by capsuleer Maindrain, shared in the highly appropriate Features and Ideas section. And Manufacturer bragging rights by capsuleer Sublime Rage. Coincidentally in the same sub-section with high relevance to features and ideas.

run it from time ship is assembled. would perform the same basic function and assembled ships already have separate database entries no? https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=118961

Would I be able to remove this from all of my ships, or would I have to start building my own if I didn't want silly little info plates on them? |

May I add an extra one....I do it anyway ...... Let the plate be one of the items there are for salvage for sure and let it be collectable thus :)

I like this idea. "I got the titan registration plate drop"
I DO NOT like the tracking idea.
Should be secret to the owner unless they care to screenshot it or sell it with it revealed.
I do not believe this idea is the same as others presented or linked so far in this thread. |
