My feedback is that:
1. During a jump, we can turn the camera with the RMB, so why not the LMB? It appears it was intended that we not turn it at all, but why not? It looks cool.
2. The sound effect contains the "target locking" sound effect amid the fizzes and slooshes. It sticks out as an ugly distraction.
3. At least for the start of the animation, the previous stargate sound effect was much, much better. It had focus. This one doesn't.
4. The cardboard grey clouds just look really cheap. It's better than a black screen and loading bar, but you have to admit it's a really cheap effect to be seeing in 2013 (and the future).
5. Finally, the "skybox wobble" at the end also looks just really cheap. It looks like something someone would make when learning Unity (this goes for the cardboard clouds too). Just these two things look like really, really low-spec effects. |

So from your last response it seems that because something is affecting someone negatively it should be chaged. I can see merit there, but is it an "I get seasick from wobbles" or is there an actual photosensitive response that could be harmful? I'm sure theres a blanket disclamer on anything you play nowdays that there may be flashing lights and moving cameras and that you experience this at your own risk.
CCP is obliged to nothing more than services paid. Don't bother throwing a hissyfit from lack of communication, you or I am not important enough to be walked through every or any stage of their development.
Why shouldn't we have a switch?
Because we don't need it and it adds nothing.
If you cannot bother to read.. do not dare to write. Simple as that. Now .. go read or SHUT UP and go back to your useles hole where trolls come from, because writting in a thread without even readign it can be ignorance, stupidity or a troll attempt. Some people may perceive a need and it would certainly add quality of life to others. Whether you are for or against an off switch, not understanding this makes you look a little slow. No need to launch a personal attack for an answer to a question, that is childish behaviour.
A lack of empathy towards people who have problems with the animation may be percieved by them as a personal attack from you. Strange thing perception, i`m sorry the observation offended you. :( |

We will stress though, that we hear your concerns and we're in the process of exploring various avenues for resolving them that include work on the camera and work on the animation itself to smooth it out and alter how it flashes and scrolls, however this is something that will take time and won't happen overnight.
Again, thanks for all the feedback, both positive and negative. It's being taken on board, and we're looking to make changes based on the things that you guys are concerned with the most, without removing the transition completely.
In that light, I would like to say that I like the jump animation far more than a black screen and loading bars. I feel it adds to the game. I think perhaps if you could reduce the effect of it swinging around you would reduce the complaints from a dull roar down to a soft whimper. Keep up the good work!
Lets remove graphic settings then. Everybody should use same graphic quality and effects just because "it adds to the game". |

As has been repeated many times in the course of this thread, adjusting the swing may help at least some of the nausea effects. However, it does nothing to change the pulsing/lighting effects which are being cited as a headache/potential seizure triggers.
I fall into that last group (migraine headaches after just a few jumps), hence why I have such an interest in seeing this matter resolved. Why a switch on/off? Because the new animation doesn't add anything to gameplay and it's graphically annoying. In other words, it's worse than bad: it's useless. Simple as that.-á-á-á-á-á - Kina Ayami |

I would point out that your opinion is less by your own admission, as an uninformed opinion is the lesser opinion. As long as you choose to remain ignorant of the issue at hand, others will give less weight to your statements.
Basically, if you want others to listen to what you have to say, first you should make sure you know what you're talking about.
You are of course allowed to carry on just as you are, but don't expect anyone to pay much attention to your arguments. Showing a lack of knowledge of a subject reduces your credibility; show an unwillingness to learn and that credibility plummets. Why a switch on/off? Because the new animation doesn't add anything to gameplay and it's graphically annoying. In other words, it's worse than bad: it's useless. Simple as that.-á-á-á-á-á - Kina Ayami |

a big difference between extroverts and introverts, is the amount of sensory input that their brain stems need.
extroverts have a less active brain stem. so extroverts desire a large amount of sensory input, before they have had enough, and do not seek further sensory input for the day.
and when they are sensory overloaded, they recover from it far more quickly.
introverts have much more activity in their brain stem. so they can sometimes tolerate little to no sensory input, before the sensory input becomes like burning agonizing pain to them.
not unlike an unfilled cavity, where every breath of cold air is pure suffering. or being it on fire with a torch, while sneering extrovert demons throw fuel onto the fire with every worthless noise they make.
and when they are sensory overloaded, it takes a very long time to recover from it. like a burn wound that refuses to stop hurting, hour after hour of the day.
and when a game is causing this effect to them, they tend to not talk about it to anyone on the forums. they instead leave the game, and never come back.
because that is what introverts do.
that and forums are for barking dogs, that are in love with the smell of their own ****.
extroverts understand the needs of introverts far less, than introverts understand extroverts.
and the majority of the eve online developers that we have observed through incessant youtube video's, appear to be extreme extroverts.
so of course the developers are inhumanly insensitive to the needs of their almost completely silent introvert players.
who knows how many thousands of potential players have been chased away from eve online, by worthless repetitive visual effects, that should NEVER have been implemented without an off option somewhere in the settings. and do not make practical sense most of the time, either.
it is not like off switches for graphical effects are hard or expensive to code. and the only players who would use them, are the players who absolutely need/want/choose them. so all that it is is giving someone what they want, when they want it, as badly as they need it.
it is the height of stupidity, that i am not allowed to turn off the flashing on a shield hitpoint bar, in a game that i pay good money for, to play in my free time.
if an eve online developer walks into my room, and punches me in the face every second that those annoying triangles complete a cycle around the targeted enemy ship, than am i expected to continue giving them my money ?
world of tanks does not do that much, if at all. and if it does, than it is so rare and brief that you do not notice it. it is not a strobe light that goes off in your face for a 20 plus minute long mission.
maybe that is part of why world of tanks has hundreds of times more players. introverts can stand to look at its absence of jarring flickering visual spam. |

This is hardly only an Eve / CCP issue, with the difference being most professional developers provide options and methods to turn off extraneous effects due to usability concerns. Particularly when developing for a mass quantity of product users. Even notoriously fruity and eccentric developers managed to address the same issue within 3 point releases spaced a few weeks apart, following a recent OS update.

In the same breath it's hardly only a software issue, anything involving cameras and movement where the audience is stationary may invoke this sort of issue. If singular in occurrence or rare, it can be used for dramatic effect as per the

Unfortunately, while the first or second time the effect is employed it's novel and only vaguely (purposefully) jarring, a UI with forced camera usage that features it prominently can trigger 'Blair Witch' genre issues in a fair percentage of the population. |
