I remember another graphical update that CCP decided was going to be mandatory with no way to revert. Was called Incarna. Remember how well that turned out? Stop forcing stuff like this on the player base, I understand you have a pretty new effect and you want to show it off to everyone but hell how hard is it to have a black screen option? |

If not, please give us the ability to use the old system again. there is no old system anymore This is a very disappointing attitude. Are you really trying to imply that CCP is incapable of implementing a toggle like we already have for camera shake and camera centering because the old lines of code have been removed? Or are you just trying to antagonize players who don't want your newly coded eye candy? I get that CCP coders are defensive about their new beautiful jump animation graphics, but your attitude sucks bro. Would you like some feedback from the players who don't have time to mess around on Sisi? Clearly you would not, but here it comes anyway: This new jump animation is disorienting and distracting. It has the subtlety and class of a pimped out El Dorado that won best in show for Mexico City. It quite literally jerks the players around in a manner so unpleasant as to encourage players to CLOSE THEIR EYES to avoid having to look at it repeatedly. The distraction is an unwelcome one. It feels like a mini-movie is being played to me against my will over and over again while I'm trying to play the game. The action for me is on the GRID not in the film shorts. It literally feels like I am being flushed down a toilet, or swallowed like a glass of water, when I jump now.I am all for the HTFU attitude when it comes to game balance issues. People who whine about their FOTM getting nerfed deserve no sympathy. However, this isn't a game balance issue. This is just eye candy distracting from the game, exactly like the (still) unfinished WIS. The main difference is the jump graphics are being repeatedly shoved straight down the throat of second-to-second undocked game play. I have no way to compare it, but it FEELS slower between jumps now for PVP. There are plenty of times when split seconds matter for someone trying to jump through a gate and cold warp. This is how PVP feels now: 1) Players: "Incursus landing on the gate at zero. Jumping through with him." 2) CCP: *SPIN* *FLUSH* "HEY LOOK AT OUR NEW OUTLANDISH JUMP GRAPHICS! AREN'T THEY COOL!!!?!?" 3) Players: "He's burning back to the gate, someone force him through... he's jumping, jump after him!" 2) CCP: *SPIN* *FLUSH* "HEY LOOK AT OUR NEW OUTLANDISH JUMP GRAPHICS! AREN'T THEY COOL!!!?!?" 5) Players: "Couldn't lock in time, he's warped to the X gate. Following in warp. Jumping behind him again." 6) CCP: *SPIN* *FLUSH* "HEY LOOK AT OUR NEW OUTLANDISH JUMP GRAPHICS! AREN'T THEY COOL!!!?!?" PROPOSED SOLUTION: Dump non-player-controlled movement (camera reorientation) entirely. Cut the tunnel graphics time in half. Or better yet, just go back to the old system and use the pretty new video sequence for promo videos. Oh...my...god... I hadn't even thought about gate games with this crap implemented. Can you imagine having to go through this once every 20 seconds or so for however long it takes to catch a repeated gatecrasher? Holy ****...ugh. |

I have to agree - these new stargates suck. I jumped through one of them and there was a 20 ship gatecamp on the other side. Please give us the option to turn off gatecamps. |

With all the things that need tuning and fixing in EvE I feel this was a massive waste of resources. How about spending your time on something we need. Assisting drones from the watch list, better drop down menu's as the new radial ones are awful and glitchy ect ect. These kinda of flashy effects waste dev time and system resources. I have a great machine and when running multiple clients I can tell there is some lag with the new gate mechanic. It nice to see it once or twice but honestly its a worthless feature and it shows your priorities are way off.
Btw You borked the shield/armor/hull alerts with this new patch. This needs to be fixed ASAP. These are the things you start to see when a gaming company is out of ideas for content. Just another feature like WIS that brings nothing to game but more client side lag and wasted Dev time. |

More news at 11. To be honest, sometimes CCP needs to be firm with some of the whiners on this forum. I would bet that in one month no one will be talking about the gate jumps and everyone will be just going about business as normal. The fact that people are getting motion sickness from this is really quite astounding to me. I've been looking at the animation in more detail, and the whole effect is so slow with the way the camera pans around. Perhaps the jump tunnel may cause some discomfort, but then jumping across the universe in seconds should induce some level of discomfort on the body. And the jump tunnel effect is not much different to the warp tunnel effect when normally warping. |

Seriously? how hypersensitive are all your stomachs that you're getting ill off all this?
I travelled somewhere upwards of 100 jumps yesterday and loved every second of it.
Here's a hint - if you're experiencing vertigo, then your inner ear is not receiving enough stimulation. look around you as you play. If there's a TV in the room, glance at what's going on every few seconds - sports matches are great for this, because you can keep track of the score. Keep a book handy and read a chapter while warping. Keep the internet up on your second monitor. Hell, nod your head to your music, something.
You don't need to do much but if you're just sitting there motionless with the monitor filling your field of vision and no inner-ear stimulation from motion, you're going to get sick, and it's not the animation's fault, it's yours for sitting unnaturally still. I'm interested in hearing the justification for saying an option to disable shouldn't be implemented. If you don't want to turn off the effect, you don't have to, and it can't be a huge thing (in terms of dev time) to add the option.
So why, exactly, should people who dislike this not be able to turn it off?
Some notes about answers: "lol you shouldn't be affected by it/dislike it" is not a valid answer. It's stupid. BunnyVirus "because that's how it is now deal with it" is not a valid answer. It's stupid, disrespectful, and if I see any more of them I'm going to petition it. Hello...mate. |

I wont believe anyone here that he's getting motion sickness from this effect
So when warping around everything ok? MWD on frigate/ orbiting everything ok? Action games 10x faster/flashy than eve everything ok?
But that one short, cool, not even medium flashy or very fast effect makes You feel bad? Just lol
I got myself a little motion sicknes but this effect don't make me feel bad, i fly today and yesterday over 100jumps and watching at most of them (they just fantastic) and i feel perfect.
Maybe stop lying, or don't sit 12h in game, move sometimes and You will feel better, because that's the cause of feeling bad, not jump effect.
And some dudes saying "i do 50 jumps and feel bad" lol who make a lot of jumps and look at every one of them?
Just don't be silly or some kind of ailing fat not moving ***** ffs

After making a few dozen jumps last night, I could certainly do without eve hijacking my camera. I don't get sick from it, but I do find that it's the ONLY time my camera goes spinning wildly of it's own accord and I find that annoying. Would love to see an off switch.
As for the motion sickness, I suspect it's got a lot to do with the camera swing and the exit animation rather than the tunnel itself. We've had warp tunnels for a while and I don't recall complaints about those. Founding member of the Belligerent Undesirables movement. |

I guess I'm the (vocal) minority here, but I like the new animations and what not. The only part I don't like is that annoying static noise you get when you hover over anomalies in space. It sounds like something off of a really old star trek episode. It's just...too over the top.
For those that have problems with spinning images and what not, I agree, an option to disable should be given. +1. |

You're missing the point. This thread, if I have interpreted it correctly, is not asking the devs to revert to the old system. It is asking for the option to disable a camera movement or effect that causes them problems. Not to remove the effect for everyone, and change the system; to prevent it from playing for people who have ticked the box.
All that would be required is a simple check box that prevents the effect (be it camera movement or jump tunnel) from playing. We have many of these boxes already, for things like animated turrets and camera shake. Hello...mate. |

Nice animation, but as some of you allready said it should be disable/enable at effects-option like all other effects are. The animation causes lag also while playing with one client on my notebook and for those with great ideas to solve that: no, i don't want to buy a better one yet because everything else is running perfect. In fleets there is also no need for every jump to show the animation, greatings to the lag and to tidi (I guess).
Best regards o/

Please, please an On/Off button... please. The new animation make me feel sick and is totally annoying.
Is it cool - only the way a gif is cool for a few moments. Not every 30 seconds when you are travelling someplace/roaming around. It doesn't even fit in with the rest of the game's atmosphere, it belongs in some action shooter or something.
Adding the On/Off button would be dev time well spent. It's the time they spent putting it in that is questionable.

Agree it needs a disable option.
Personally it doesn't worry me that much but it does become tiresome after a few jumps, perhaps CCP think they are programming an arcade game or somehting

After the 10th jump, I did more or less what I did with CQ back in the day, avoid it, and only way to do it now is by pressing F10 before jumping. Fact is on long trips all I do is leave Map on for the whole ride.
Not whining, just posting a workaround to those "GET USED TO IT" whining whiners against whiners posts.
Enjoy!
Though I would love an option to turn it off. It-¦s good, I appreciate the effort of the art team, blah blah, but gets annoying on long trips.
As usual, CCP not giving choices, even a black screen would be better and I assume, shouldnt take too much effort, but then again who knows, a black screen might require ten years and 5 PHDs to code, since I know what a lot of people will answer and I am just a shoemaker... and enjoy turnip soup
Good animation guys, but just giving us CHOICE to turn it off would be great, like CQ. I hate it when CCP changes FLUFF and doesnt give an option to avoid it.
