I've had trouble finding additional information on this new product that was apparently demo'd at FF05 (unless it's some sort of inside joke.)
Any links or more information on this? |

The CCG is slated for an '06 release. The game is in beta and playtesting with a number of small groups. The entire project is being handled in-house, including art, card design, rules, etc. More information will be posted as it is made available.

i hope it's a bit more practical than things like magic and the startrek ccg. i've know of both and both+ other are exreamly complicated on rules and can take hours to play. Please resize your signature image, the filesize limit is 24,000 bytes - Imaran

Magic isn't very complicated, and certainly doesn't take hours to play - Proud member of the [23].

True, while Magic in itself isn't hard to pick up, the large amount of available offensive and defensive strategies can get a bit complicated. This, of course, is only compounded with each new release. (depending on what type of game/tournament you're playing in.)

It is true that it takes quite some time to learn the various formats, but once you know a general format (Like Aggro, where your objective is to kill your opponent as fast as possible), you can easily adapt your strategies to new cards without too much work, and the stagering variety of possible decks is part of what makes the game so interesting

Four cards, Amarr, Minmatar, Caldari, Gallente. Shuffle, deal between 4 players. Amarr wins!

I brought my 4 beta decks (1 of each race) over to a game store that I hang out at from time to time. The owners are friends of mine and are hard-core CCG players. Two of them took up the challenge, skimmed the rules, grabbed Gallente and Caldari decks, then proceeded to play a complete game in 70 minutes.
Initial feedback was good. A couple minor questions about the rules (it is in beta), but they said the game was fast paced and not overly complicated.

I am definitely looking forward to the eve card game. It would be cool if EON had maybe one plastic wrapped "EON-Only" edition of a card that would only be available to those who purchased the subscription (or that single issue).
I just hope I can swing purchasing all those cards and paying for shipping to the US when it does come out.

the problem will arise that Nerfs won't come in the form of patches, but errata.
Hmmmà ôTomBÆs Eratta-Bat of doomö, has a sort of Latin-esque flair to ità letÆs hope they keep it a one of a kind Super-Ultra-Mega-Rare card.
The greatest failing of Magic the Gathering was that Wizards of the Coast started in on classic cards that were originally functional and perfectly fine, but down the road decided to rewrite everything governing the mechanics of the game and over time ruined it completely for ôseriousö players. With the rise of 5th, 6th, 7th editions and so on each compounding the all but ruining of the game at its most basic levels, MTG almost had to retreat to quiet household gaming where the group of players decided which set of rules to follow, and those who practiced the ôAncient Waysö of ôAlpha, Beta, and Unlimitedö (you know, the rule sets that actually work) were all but shunned at the door of any tournament play.
The very best thing the EVE CCG can do is live by the KISS method, or ôKeep It Simple Stupidö.
Any CCG can have unforeseen combinations of cards that down the road can monkey with the rules, thatÆs one thing; but to completely rewrite the mechanics of the game after itÆs already established and widely played is a killer for fans of the game.
All of that being aside, regardless of rules, cards, meanings and methodologyà If the EVE CCG is released in the US IÆd like to collect a complete set just for the novelty of it.
