I really appreciate your fitting tool. I apologize if this has already been asked but just in case it hasn't I would like to request a feature be added. Would you please incorporate within the program a update function or preferably an autoupdate feature that both grabs the latest version of EFT and ports your info over.
Thanks again! |

gripen, regarding the ongoing discussion about align time -- there was an interesting post about how the Eve engine works made by the pyfa maintainer after talking to Entity. I will quote from the pyfa thread in this forum:
Kadesh Priestess wrote:2) Align time. Today Entity shed some light onto how Destiny works. The key point to the numbers you got and the numbers you have in EFT is that method you're using to measure align time is naturally flawed. It would work semi-okayish in 100x slowed down by TiDi system, but using stopwatch in normal conditions leads to wrong results. The proper way would be: Open logserver, jump through gate/fullstop. Start aligning. Then, look for entries like: Quote:142 2012.02.28 16:48:59:401[ 19619 ] WarpTo 969 2012.02.28 16:49:39:408BroadcastStuff::Notify( OnNotifyPreload ,...) First line is actual start of align process, second line is issued on warp 'commit' (when you become invulnerable, ships which have you locked lose you, and so on). It lets client to preload objects in the target grid, and it's issued only on warp commit because it would be exploitable otherwise (everybody knows you can't stop warp when it's already commited). This example shows charon align process with align time equal to 39.58. Two notes here: 1) Align time is always rounded up to seconds (due to server tick nature). It doesn't matter for align time if your dram has 3.01 or 3.99 align time, both will take 4 ticks to completely perform align (though, it still matters for your general agility) 2) Subtle time difference in log is explained by fluctuating delay of transport layer Crusader with 3% agi implant (2.95 align time): Quote:176282012.02.28 19:04:00:045[ 6266 ] WarpTo 176712012.02.28 19:04:03:041BroadcastStuff::Notify( OnNotifyPreload ,...) Crusader w/o implants (3.05 align time): Quote:120212012.02.28 19:31:05:362[ 26436 ] WarpTo 120592012.02.28 19:31:09:385BroadcastStuff::Notify( OnNotifyPreload ,...) You see how this theoretical 0.1 second difference results in 1 second real difference, yeah? Please note TiDi will just make warp-off process longer, but it won't change any breakpoints, so this mechanics applies to all ships in all systems regardless of TiDi scale. Stopwatch method adds additional layer of several seconds... err, why? Most likely because simulation (server processes whose synchronized representaion you see in your client) takes one additional tick to full-stop your ship + 1 tick to start warp acceleration. Also, often yet another tick is added when you hit warp and stopwatch simultaneously (server doesn't start warp immediately, it waits for start of next tick). But the point is that you become invulnerable before that, before you actually see your ship entering warp on client side. That is, align formula is absolutely correct. We don't care how client shows it, because on server ship enters invulnerability state properly. We could round up align time to reflect actual align time, but as it's often used as ship agility factor - i doubt we'll do it. Maybe when UI is refined to show both numbers, but it's not going to happen tomorrow.
I agree with you that EFT align times match stopwatch times (as mentioned previously, I tested this myself too). However, it appears that the really important part -- time to invulnerability -- may be correct on the wiki and pyfa, but not in EFT. What do you think? Should this be changed in EFT? |

It's less than 2 megabytes. If you can't download a file that size without a download manager then get better service.

In-game you actually have a faction TC/TE, or some skill mismatch? That or the stacking penalty's not right and not factoring in that scripted TC correctly? Try removing related mods one at a time to see how well they match theory to practice? |

I had some talks about this with Entity. They don't care about client part of simulation while I didn't want to rely solely on their interpretation of logserver logs. But question of align time definitely needs to be reviewed - by the tests I've done so far align time is indeed takes up whole amount of seconds and it's very strange that nobody noticed that until this moment (who knows, maybe it was changed just recently by some work CCP does under the hood?).

And where is the config file so i can copy/paste my dmg profiles? It apparently is not in the 14.4... You can open setup files (stored in EFT/Setups folder) with Notepad or any similar plain text editor and copy their contents from test variant to another version files.
Config.ini is automatically created after first launch. |

OK, maybe thats just me, but isn't there a typo in the Mechanics skill? In eve it is "Mechanics" and so it is exported by EVEMon, but used in EFT as "Mechanic" (see the missing s at the end) Thats why no Armor-Repper "works" and everything.
If I remove the s in the CHR-File everything works as designed.
Bug in EFT? Bug in EVEMon? I tend to EFT, as the skill is called Mechanics in the game.
Before any questions arise: I have to use EVEMon for the exports, because I sit behind a proxy-server using authentication at work and didn't get EFT to work through that. |

I have attempted to get the key to work several dozen times.

What is up with that? Old API key support was discontinued quite a long time ago so you need to use new customizable keys. What error message exactly do you get when trying new key? (You can copy error message by pressing Ctrl+C when message appears). |

First I must sincerely apologize for moving you to 667 likes from "666".
Next (CCP and I) must thank you for EFT. I would have quit as a pilot long ago without the ability to test and properly fit a ship for the dangers of space. The testing part actually is more fun at times as I've come up with some crazy-off-the-wall fits that, while not practical except for a very narrow set of circumstances, would be fun to be in when undocking and being scanned by "the other guy".
Thanks again and keep up the good work! |

I'm sure you've been asked before but...
Would you consider adding POS fitting to EFT. You have most of the requirements already in place.
* Control tower (equivalent to a ship that requires no skills) * Modules that use CPU or grid. * Modules that increase shield resistance (hardeners). * Turrets, ammo, etc.
The only thing I see as a problem is the slot concept.

Sorry Grippen
But after 3 years faithful EFT use and abuse, I can no longer get the latest version (2.14.4) to work properly No matter what I try, I keep getting connection failed error when trying to import my API codes.
New codes, old codes, run as administrator etc etc all result in 'connection failed'
Any ideas? |

I have two easy feature requests
1. Allow condensed EFT fits. This will also make posting fits in forums much more compact and readable. Old style fits should still remain compatible. In fact, you could just write a few lines of code to automatically translate these fits into old ones (will need an exception for drones)
[Prophecy, Bait #5] Damage Control II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II x 2 Reactor Control Unit I 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I x 2
X5 Prototype Engine Enervator J5b Phased Prototype Warp Scrambler I Experimental 10MN MicroWarpdrive I
Focused Medium Pulse Laser II x 5, Multifrequency M Small Energy Neutralizer II x 2
Medium Trimark Armor Pump I x 3
Warrior II x5
2. I would like an additional tool in EFT that fixes the module names in old fittings. With CCP changing so many names recently, it has become to chore to keep up with a bunch of sed scripts. |
