i agree this change suck and we tried 2 point it out when it was announced. as said ealier we now have any way to defend ourselves we tried the scenario over and over again yesterday a interceptor/dramiel can get to your hulk before the hulk manage to get out of the belt. the only good thing is at some point even the pvpers will start whine when every thing starts to cost a freaking fortune since no one can get except highsec can get some seriosly mining done. |

Im going to be speaking for wh miners on this one. You are just as safe before the patch, in fact safer is some situations. Yes they do not have too scan down the ore site but they will not warp on top of you either. you will still have ample time too warp out because you could be a long distance away from the warp in point. Another thing, if a k 162 pops up in system you will know about it imediately due too the new mechanics. As for hulkagedon and high sec miners well your SOL and I cant help you there

This is not true, the time required to fly the belt is much shorter than the time required for extracting the abandonment Belt. Yesterday I tested it.

I have said from the alpha they released on Sisi, CCP, where have your logic and thinking skills gone, probably in not such a nice manner tbh.
The Ice belt move was a good thing, its visible on screen to all just like now, IF CCP had used the same mechanic/code on static system belts that would have been awesome, it makes miners work a bit harder for sure but takes away the monotony of same belts all the time at static can bookmarks.
Grav sites providing ores outside of the system limitations should have remained accessible only through scanning, they are a reward for the work of scanning them down, its that simple.
A side effect of the changes is the breaking of the Null/High trade dependency link to a degree, only megacyte and morphite are now not freely available to mine in high sec, everything else is available 23-+/7 to everyone and many grav sites that were never mined are now stripped within hours of spawning (low sec probably now has a wealth of them for 3 days as their re-spawn is region wide). Add this to the buff of low ends in high end ores the incentive for haulers from Null to High has changed, they can now price gouge even better as the return trips provide less utility as compressed low end minerals are not required in the same volume.
CCP failed to make mining for all more dynamic and protect the risk/effort reward mechanics that make the EvE sandbox what it is, they have placed preformed concrete castles in the box and are too arrogant/focus on getting more short term cash for the shareholders by getting more short lasting subs.
Lander, Soundwave and Co are making a game in their image and not a sandbox with unintended consequences CCP-¦s New Motto: Shiny over Substance |

I wonder if you have been in a wh ore site my dear. Most of the time i spend almost over 100km from the warp in point on avg and that is due too the natural size of these things. you will be long gone the second an unfriendly is on d scan and you start too warp, and even if you are delayed by a few seconds the unfriendly in most situations will not be able too burn too you fast enough before your gone. Unfortunately not, some anomalies are 100 kilometers but some are inflated on site.
Again, I tried it, I need time to jump on the anomalies and focus ship is under 10 seconds.
Yes, the anomaly is a short walk from the WH is inflated, so I jump 15km from Retriever = death for him. But before I had a chance, now I do not. |

Nothing important has changed really, except for the better. For those miners who pay attention to the various intel tools available for you, ranging from local if in kspace to the new overlay which automagically shows you any and all newly spawning signatures (aka the wormholes where the boogeymen come) as well as old tools such as dscan, probe picketing and audio picketing at holes, mining has never been easier nor safer. For those who refuse to pay any attention whatsoever, they deserve to get ganked.

This was just laziness on CCPs part. Static belts should have been made into the Ore Sites, and Grav sites should have been left alone. CCP just didn't want to deal with maintaining 2 different types of belts.

Set up a bubble in front of the entrance maybe? I don't know for sure but wouldn't it be kinda suicide if you were to gank miners and fly blindly and warp to zero on a ore site.
Ofcourse there are cyno droppers, but they would stil come no matter what. Not to mention they hide in cloak all day in your system.
If alliances were smart they would make counter traps. But people are to arsed busy these days. Roams outside their own system is more important. |

I have to disagree with OP. Being able to warp immediately to grav sites introduces more PvP to the game. Why, just last night I was able to engage an exhumer within a few seconds of entering system. It was an exhilarating fight...he got me down to 100% shields before I finally popped him. Good times rockin' the killboard!

That's the problem: Null industry needs a buff far more than miner lolganking. Yes, that mean letting semi-afk miners in peace for now. And you don't seriously want miners to be as focused on the game as you pvper, right? I mean, for the sake of human sanity, no one should be forced to look at these lasers more than once every 10 seconds.
We should have had: 1-Ore buffs 2-Mining revamp 2bis-Ore anomaly (aka ring mining, in dev for months, maybe years now...)

I totally agree Sov payments, ihub upgrades and now there a free for all. Seems to me that CCP are not getting enough money through there doors. In my honest opinion there killing the game and don`t even realize it.
Gravimetric site`s are generated by the hard work of miners battling it out for countless hours on hard asteroids to obtain such sites. And CCP have just made them an insta warp in for all. Well i have toons and i have been playing for 6 years i originally projected to play for ten. But if CCP feel that this is the way they will generate money through the doors. I think they need to re-think.
I guess that CCP will not be getting my -ú1200 a year to play there game any more. And if i`m not the only one that thinks this way then i`m sure they will drum up some other ways to try to exploit money from the unwitting.
Enough is enough unless they give the Gravimetric sites back to the sov owners you won`t see me back at the end of this month.
Seriously dissapointed in this change, I might ad there are some nice features. But this is only going to draw in short term interest in the game. The game was built on longevity and the bean counters @ CCP and the Dev`s as far as i see it only watch the $$
If you think this is wrong Bump me don`t troll.

I have to agree with OP. Makes little sense. Too many things are in your face with the scanning changes.
The point of exploration is to explore... not to have it handed to you. Basically CCP just did a (much needed) revamped a scanning system and at the same time - eliminated most of the need to use it. Primary Test Subject GÇó SmackTalker Elite |

Does anyone else feel this way? I find it rather cheesy that your ship can just find them as soon as you jump right into a new system. It seems to punish the hard working miners who would go out of their way to probe down the secret spots. After all, that's what made them so appealing. You may as well just make them regular ol' asteroid belts now.
Gankers and pirates profit from this especially, just in time for Hulkageddon too!

Nexus Day wrote:Anti-social Tendencies wrote:I have to ask though.... this information has been available for a long time. It was announced in the Dev Blogs. Why didn't you voice your opinion then?
I can only hope that if enough folks voice their opinion that CCP may change their mind. This is a change that really hurts miners yet they didn't make a similar change that would hurt PvE players running sig sites.
My guess is that CCP has other reasons for this change that they haven't chosen to share since the reason they did give, makes no sense the context of the rest of the Odyssey changes.
People did voice their opinion yet here we are.
CCP sadly just doesn't listen. This is fact.
CCP decided to roll out the new forums a few years ago. Anyone here remember that? They asked us to beta-test it for a few months and send in our feedback, tons of people sent in tons of suggestions for improvement, but also warnings about security holes in the code. Yet the new forums were released virtually unchanged. It wasn't until a user exploited those security holes and demonstrated that he could do whatever he wanted with them (and humiliated CCP in the process) that the new forums were taken down and revamped for many months.
There are many other examples like this, where new stuff is put up on SiSi and CCP asks us to go have a look and give our feedback, only to promptly ignore all of it and roll out the new stuff unchanged. This will happen again. At least CCP Rise has been doing great work with his army of stickies down in the Features & Discussions thread, where it seems that player feedback is appreciated and noted.
In this particular case, it is possible that CCP has ulterior motives, but they sure aren't sharing that with us. |
