It would be nice to have it to where it took more than 10 hours to delete an alt from an account. This would stop all of this crap that the newbie chars are doing. Half of them want you to get on MSN with them to discuss a deal. It also seems that the other half are scammers on escrow. Extend the termination time to 1 week and this might help prevent this from happening so much. As it is now, someone can scam all day then when they go to bed, set that char to terminate. The next day do it all over again. This is just an exploit of the game mechanics in my opinion.

Oh, Did I forget. Stop the scamming trial accounts ASAP. Only offer trial accounts 1 month out of the year. Would be better for players all around.

It would be nice to see an increase in the character recycling time. People who have created alts for legitimate reasons would suffer little inconvenience from this.
I think this has been raised befoire, but was never implemented for some reason.

Edited by: Majir Kry on 04/11/2005 16:19:57 if it wasnt for trial accounts i wouldnt be playing the game. CCP must get a lot of new players via trial accounts that wouldnt have taken the plunge without a freebie look at the game.

That is why I like the idea of trial accounts. It would just be better to have them only 1 month out of the year. This way everyone know what is going on that month. It sux to help a newbie char out only to find out that he is a trial account and never planned on going full time. I dont mind helping newbies out. I just hate that the trial accounts cant be linked to IP addresses somehow.

Or you could just be more careful when dealing with other players and not be foolish with your money.
The trial account system has enabled GoonFleet to sign up 50 new members if we do a recruiting drive focused on getting people to do the two-week-free plan. We had 170 trial accounts signup last time which became 50 new paying members for this game.

On the trial accounts, just put the words "TRIAL ACCOUNT" in big red letters across the face of Trial Account characters.

Discuss a deal on MSN? No deal then. It's the tool of the devil. If something can't be settled in-game, then it's not worth it. Escrow scams are trivial and so painfully obvious that they aren't a problem, except for the sheer volume of them. Escrow is pretty much a broken system, but the good news is that it's due to be replaced anyway.

Or you could refuse to make big deals with chars that aren't atleast 15 days old, because no trial char is going to be uber rich anyways. Sometimes I simply cannot understand how people can be stupid enough to make huge deals with newbie chars in NPC corps, or have someone transport a ton of goods without collateral.

Yeah, and how likely is it that someone who randomly hears about the game is going to come back in 5/6 months to finally get their trial account??
That idea kinda goes against the entire idea behind free trials, plus you could always save up 10-20 trial IDs and just use them as needed the rest of the year

You want to inconvience the new players who are trying to find their niche in a completely foreign game... just so can continue to act careless and take everything at face value? I've deleted 3 characters in the last week, trying to find something that I like. Why should I be punished for being creative with my character just because you don't have the common sense?
Do you seriously think that increasing the recycle time from 10 hours to 24 hours, or something along those lines, will slow them down? They will just switch to more lucrative scams, where you continue to lose MORE ISK because you're too trusting, etc, etc.
Is it frustrating to get scammed? Absolutely. Should you punish the whole because a few bad apples? Hell no.

Ditto. But with capitalization and junk. And "weren't". But otherwise, he speaks my mind.
If you get scammed, I honestly feel for you, happens to the best of us, etc. If you get scammed again, you should consider inhabiting another plane of existance, because you're just not cut out for this one. -----------------

If you are too stupid to inspect your escrows or trades, you deserve what you get.
No reason to harm recruiting new players into the game because you lack the common sense to protect your investment.

A week..hmm..can't think of any reason a week would be objectional...
signed (hah, and its my alt agreeing, beat that)
if they really need it off'ed sooner, they could petition it, gm checks the toon for bad behaviour and if ok, kills it.

Aye, I agree with this. Anything that give a false sense of security is good with me.
As I have posted many times, the best scammers have more than one account, at least one has six.

Six? They must be the same people selling ISK for real world cash.

I suggest changing the alt deletion delay to at least 14 days to match trial accounts and consider requiring credit card information, not to be billed unless they explicitly subscrbe, to create a trial account (if this is not currently done - I haven't created trial account since the beginning).
Also, how about an in game marker in a the character info screen to denote if that character is in a trial account and perhaps additionally if it's not the oldest character in whatever account it is in?
Please also consider not allowing the creation of any *new* alts in any accounts (but let people keep any they already have and do allow the deletion and creation of a new character for the account). I know people do not like this, but it would really cut down on all kinds of problems that only cause more technical and support overhead.
I see this as a real problem because in some systems I frequent, it's just a parade of noobs (on paper) and I know they are just alts. Decreases the fun of actually getting to know real characters that inhabit the area.

There is no reason for giving players an infinite access to trial accounts.
Just give everyone 10 trial keys to hand out to friends/partners/co-workers. I doubt many people in this game have turned over 10 trials into active subscriptions.
