Is there any reason to use the new modules that increase pinpoint, etc etc. I have not had any problems finding sites even in low sec/0.0 and wormholes? Not really. As long as you have enough mids for prop mod, data and relic analyzers, and one cargo scanner, you're good.
Gasper wrote:There are 2 different rigs that give you attack power for hacking. Is one of these rigs for relic and one for data? Looks like they are for both, but why are there 2 different kinds? One for each (plus T2 variant) and they only add coherence.
Gasper wrote:Anything else other then ship type/skills/and rigs that increase hacking stats for attack power and defense? Besides those three, only the coherence implants.

Racial Electronic Subsystem to five takes less time than Cov Ops skill to five, so you could get max strength more quickly that way. |

Rhasta Farai wrote: When you win a mini game, the container will open and a lot of tiny containers will spawn and float off in different directions. There are 5 types of them: - Data Container (data sheets, blueprints, skill books) - Parts Container (decryptors, electronic parts, salvage) - Materials Container (datacores, carbon, production materials, salvage) - Equipment Container (hydrogen batteries) - Scraps Container (scrap materials)
When you click once on any container it will be tractored directly to your ship and you'll receive its contents. When you double-click on the can you will approach the selected container. Those tiny containers live only for about 20-30 seconds, so you have to decide very quickly what containers you want to get.
Ahahaha ... this brings back a lot of memories from Elite. Killing Pythons and chasing the cargo containers they spew. Truly an Elite origin. Thanks for the write up.

Any thoughts?
AC is purely for the mini-professions Cruiser that shows up if you fail the hack. As this is pure EFT then I don't know if that will take care of the Cruiser or not. Johnny Pew has a video up and has 4 Hob IIs attacking the cruiser. (http://youtu.be/PuezTFPFnws)
I'm considering a Loki for null exploration but since Strats can't enter many of the Low sec sites then a cheetah will have to do. |

Yeah, I know what the patch notes say, but I'm sure I've seen a Dev post since they were posted saying that hacking failure provokes a rat spawn. |

UPDATE:
Quote:- Data Container (data sheets, blueprints, skill books) - Parts Container (datacores, decryptors, electronic parts, salvage) - Materials Container (carbon, production materials, salvage) - Equipment Container (hydrogen batteries) - Scraps Container (scrap materials) After last patch all datacores now drop only in Parts cans.
Oraac Ensor wrote:It was said at Fanfest, and written again someplace by a Dev, that rats will spawn after a hacking failure. Is that not happening now? I have experienced rat spawns a couple time at data sites in the drone regions on failed attempts. No rats sighted anywhere else... yet.
rat spawns were just 2-3 frigs with 1500 isk bounty |

Having Covert Ops to 5 gets you nothing. The bonus to virus strength is a flat bonus and not "per level".
As for the rats, I too have only experienced rats spawning at drone sites (sometimes after even 1 failure).
Serpentis sites (almost) always explode upon 2 failures. |

Is there a way to spot data containers visually? Like different color?

go to nullsec, relic sites are in like every 3-4 systems. Farming t2 salvage in frigs is the new FW (check t2 salvage prices). |

Thx Zod As i understand the color of SystemCore icon just shows a difficulty of a container you are hacking. And you are right - there is no difference in SystemCore parameters, the only difference is in a Defensive sub-systems parameters and spawn mechanics of them.

It seems that once you succed, containers are spreaded. They live short and you dont have time to get them all. Only after scooping one you are able to get the next. So have to watch the name of containers and hope the item you looking for is in a container category. If you scanned and see a datacore, you should aim for datacore container? A list of container names and categories fit would be most usefull. |

Nice, very nice, guide. I have few questions on the catching of the minicans, though:
a) Do you have to wait until a minican is pulled in before you click the next? Or do they queue up in some way? What is the optimal "Picking rate"?
b) What/where should you click - in the exact centre spot of the symbol, or just on the symbol somewhere?
c) Does zoom affect your success rate? The symbol size stay the same, and I tend to zoom away, so as to keep all containers visible until they despawn, but is that wise? Is it really about hitting the minican itself, meaning that you would want to zoom close to make it appear bigger? Is it better to place your ship right at the spew point and zoom real close in, and then just move the camera view?
d) what do the varying colors mean? The minican symbol starts out green, then get yellow and white, and when they are nearing their EOL they start to blink. But it seems that clicking on a container may trigger a change as well - parts of it becoming green, or yellow, blinking in maybe a different way or frequency compared to an EOL can, etc. It is confusing as there are so many different changes in a very short time, it is hard to tell one from the other. Which is well and good, mind you, since that is the "game" part of it, but still I wish I knew a little bit more about what to look for.
Some additional comments:
It is important NOT to double click on a can, as that will start your ship moving, which in turn makes clicking on the cans MUCH more difficult. That puts a restriction on what you can do to get a specific can, if you are not sure you actually caught it. If your ship starts moving nevertheless, hit ctrl-space to stop it. And no, you cannot add minicans to overview, you have to catch them in space

a) no, you don't have to wait, but the queue is works only for the next one tiny container
b) you can click anywhere on the symbol
c) no, zoom doesn't affect on your success, however, it's much easy to catch cans when you see them all at once
d) green - you are free to click on cans to catch them, yellow - you have to wait, while the white one is done, red - someone else is transported this can |
