I think it would be nice to know when (and maybe who) built the ship you piloting. Like: 'Made in 15 may 2007 by xxx". And also include that information in kill mail. |

I'm sure this would break the game, no thanks. I hate change. stop suggesting things. An open mind is like a fortress with its gates unbarred and unguarded. A narrow mind is a focused mind.

Not feasible due to how repackaged items are handled. GÇ£If you're not willing to fight for what you have in GëívGëí you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.GÇ¥

This would force every ship to have a unique entry in the database, preventing any and all ships from being repacked, stacked, or put in the market. EVE item data just isn't stored in a way that facilitates this. |

C'mon people. You know you'd pay more for an exclusive Navy Raven that had the label, 'Crafted by Mr Epeen' attached to it.

I don't see a problem with it adding that meta data, but as others have pointed it, it would be hard to accomplish without breaking the way repackaging and stacking works.
If CCP ever started tracking how old in-game items are, I will start to worry. They might someday decide items should take ware, beyond what can be repaired, and once an item becomes too worn out, it will start losing effectiveness and will need to be reprocessed. I am in no means suggesting I want this, but I could see it being added at some point as a way to curb supercapital proliferation. |

With a game like EvE that could cause a trader to be war decced.
In WoW I like it, as it can drum up business. In EvE, let's keep it a nice secret. "In a world of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act." ~George Orwell

Or in Eve it could be used as marketing tool to get more people to buy your ships. Makes more sense in Eve then in WoW. Just in Eve there is risks involved with self promotion .

Very interesting idea. Also it's very common - names of makers all over weapons in MMO games for like 5 years already. Knowing CCP's pace of work I expect it to be new EVE expansion theme - in next decade. |

A decade is probably the timeframe required for a complete rewrite of the item management system; a complete replacement of the item database; and for the hardware upgrades needed to handle the new data shuffling requirements. It wouldn't work. In Final Fantasy 11, they allow you to sign crafted items and give them to your friends or sell them in your bazaar (personal market) and it stays there. But, the moment you sell it on the Auction House (server-wide market), the signature is erased. I'd imagine EVE would be similar in nature. Maturity, one discovers, has everything to do with the acceptance of not knowing. http://www.di.fm/spacemusic |

Kind of like someone else said, but have the ship tagged and when repacked the tag goes away.
And with that, you might have a few old ships that you hang on to that might mean something special to you. Not too mention the collection you might accrue over time.

to bad crafting doesn't give ships unique stats based on the skills of the crafter instead of the skill based cost of materials we have now.
then you could actually build something better than the next guy and have your stuff be in demand by the public, and your factories on your competitor's KOS list.
one day they should look at expanding industry to create unique goods, perhaps a stand alone uniques system that overlays the standard NPC based item system |

I'd love that, if you could also tweak some values of the items, kinda almost having a player driven Borderlands 2 style. "Wildcard Inc. 425mm Railgun II" slightly lower tracking, but a higher ROF.
Naturally it'd cause several small fires to break out in and around the servers and would be impossible to balance, even if it was fesible in the current system.
One can dream though. I lied :o

I don't know about build dates but I do know the wallet has that transaction feature which does show when and who you bought items from.
I had a nice moment in a station where someone bought a ship i had built and as I left the station the guy who bought it flew it out right behind me. Kind of cool to see another player fly something I made. |
