so whats the skinny? heck the forums alone of that site were a HUGE asset to the community. if their not going to get new hosting could they at least make that data available to someone like grismar? and since im relatively new to eve and dont know who the folke were behind the scenes down there, has anyone heard from or seen these people?

Edited by: Leland Palmer on 14/11/2005 20:03:17 well excccccccccccccuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuse me. if you dont feel this topic is still of MAJOR relavance to the community I invite you to google just about any "eve online" and additional search parameter like agents lets say and see just how many results are eve-i based. theres a huge amount of data seemingly lost to us, all of which id like to point out which was CREATED by us ie their forums. it seems a bloody shame to see it all go to waste

No contact with the admins. I have endeavored to get the data from them in order to look at getting it back up again, but alas their last contact was that they were too busy with RL (kreisch especially) and were waiting on some new host to get back in touch as mentioned in E:ON.

Edited by: Core Bash on 14/11/2005 20:06:05 I guess it is somewhat ironic that EVE-I had a multipage feature in our very first issue of E-ON. Anyway, maybe someone should re-sticky a summarized explanation with updated info? If hosting is a problem, maybe the authors of EVE-I could post a donation link.

Leland, that's not it. It's that the topic is been posted about ad nauseum on the forums, there was a sticky there for weeks as well. And NUMEROUS posts like this have been popping up at the rate of at least one per day.

Others have offered (including me). No response. My guess is the creators have moved on.

They could write a final statement, get it stickied here twenty times, change the entire forum - nay, the entire site - to be called the Final Statement from the Makers of EVE-I and people will still post new threads about it. :)

It is a major blow to the community, and we've only discussed it about 50 times and its been stickied THREE times, get with it.

and I think yall need to relax, ya know alot of people that play eve are relatively new, and alot of us arnt frequent forum visitors. we come here occasionally to look for answers, not to get flamed, heck if ya see a eve-i post and yer perpetually annoyed, um psst dont read it. or mayby your all just as anxious as others that are less informed about forum doings to get a answer? welp ive had my say. if anyone has a contact list for the folks that ran eve-i id like to offer them some solutions or suggestions, judging from what ive read it wont help but it sure cant hurt to try.

nope ya wernt blink :)
what gets me is how hard is it to give someone from the community a ftp login account to DL the forums and tools etc..... mind you im sure it would have to be someone of integrity but theres plenty of foks like yerself and gris that IMHO could be trusted to do right by the data. not for nothing but it seems awfully weird that wasnt done, it takes all of 5 min to set up read only permissions and a userid for a ftp.
