It's a set of simple questions and requires only simple answers.
Has anyone ever flown their ship towards one of the many stars in EVE? What happens? Do you warp to a close orbit (like warping to a planet), or do you lose your ship in a fireball? Just curious, and I don't want to expend the isk to find out.
I guess there would be a Darwin Award entry on this if anything nasty really happens.

if u warp there, its just a big flaming star - you land pretty durn far out. (pretty tho)
im nearly certain that you would just 'fly through' the sun if you had the patience to mwd there (would take a very long time, you dont in as close as you do to, say, a moon) - just like u can fly through moons and planets.

You take damage from Suns exactly the same way you take damage from Planets...i.e. you DON'T.
Occassionally you will find a system where the jumpgate to jumpgate path thakes you directly through the primary sun. It can look quite cool but be pretty hard on the eyes. Your screen gets VERY bright until a split second later you pass through it and out the other side and you're looking at normal seeming space again.
I know of a few people that bought 'Tourists', took them to a sun after MWD'ing to it, and then left them there in their jettisoned containers. I think they left a few cows as well for good measure. I think that's what people mean when they say there's lots of content in EVE, you just have to find it yourself ;)
