Arbitrator is quite good as it is. The only change it might possibly need is 1 more mid. Even with that, it's a great ship in its current iteration. As stated multiple times, it IS an ewar boat so should NOT be a vexor. The Law is a point of View |

Shield arby would be an unstoppable beast and the armor variant would be the ultimate close range kiting ship. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=174097 Separate all 4 empires in eve with lowsec. |

If you want a Vexor, fly a Vexor. Problem solved.

To be honest, when I wrote this post I considered Arbitrator to be a drone carrier (as it says in the description) and not an EWAR ship. I saw the TD bonus as a weird secondary attribute, similar to Dragoon having an Energy Vampire bonus, with little to no solo PvE implications. I was, after all, looking for a boat for security missions mainly.
Now a question to those more experienced; how would you use TD effectively in solo PvE? Or is it even worth considering? After reading all the comments here, I got the impression that Arbitrator is seen strong mainly as a PvP ship. As for that I cannot comment since I am not yet familiar with that aspect of the game.
In any case, huge thanks to everyone who has commented, as you have also helped me learn more about the benefits of EWAR ;) |

PVE Balance is secondary to pvp balance.
The arbitrator is unneeded as a pve boat.
The devs do not balance ships according to usefulness in PVE, they always look at PvP and will possibly make tweaks for mission runners if it will fit.

Making an Arbitrator into a PvE boat kind of ruins it for PvP.
I actually cross trained Amarr years ago when I was doing level 2 and 3 missions because I considered it a superior drone carrier to the Vexxor.
I used rigs (before they were differentiated by size, ouch to the wallet), to boost it's shield with 2 purgers and an EM booster. A booster for emergencies and an invulnerability or 2 for tank, using shield power relays to give it a livable passive tank. I never really bothered mounting guns, my high slots were logi modules for care and feeding of the drones.
I was able to clear belt rats in Providence and run level 3's with ease. By no means was it the PVE king of all rat killers, but it was comfortable and easy to fly. These days with drone damage augmentors to compete with lows, I'd imagine it does a bit better job at it.
Using the Tracking Disruptor bonus in PvE isn't impossible, it's just often impractical in missions since you have a lot of targets. Still, on lower missions where you have one or 2 BS capable of substantial damage if they hit, they can be handy. |
