So, just how much better is "Tech 2" going to be over "Tech 1"?
I've seen people say Tech 2 will make Tech 1 totally obsolete and useless. Just how obsolete?
i.e., how would a Tech 2 battleship or cruiser compare with a Tech 1 ship - both in terms of capabilities and costs to manufacture? Would a Tech 2 cruiser stand a chance against a Tech 1 battleship?
Would we see a similar progression (as far as time is concerned) in Tech 2 from frigates --> battleships as we did for Tech 1?
How soon can we expect Tech 2? Before or after Titans and player made stations? |

I think Tech two ships will come way before player run stations. Titans will come before player run stations. I just hope they come out with refining Mods for indys soon. That would help a great deal.

I believe tech 2 will be the next big thing that shows up. What makes it different from tech 1 is it will need trade goods and other odd things in the construction. Say you want to build Tech object A you'll need some robotics some garbage and a bottle of quafe.
As for player stations and titans and such i have no idea when those are coming but i guess it will be a good long wait.
(if i'm wrong about tech 2 stuff or anything for that matter i apologize this is what i have gathered tech 2 stuff will be) - - - - - - - Disclaimer I take no responsibility for the spelling or grammar usage in the above statement Nor do i agree with its ideas and or claims Or even acknowledge its existance. |

Um, Never seen a Griffin 1, let alone a Griffin 2.
It was my impression that Ships wont go to "tech 2", if you really want to see ships that way, there are already "tech 3" ships. Maller, Tristram, Moa, etc.. etc.
As for equipment, Tech 2 items are far far far better.
For example, a Small shield booster I recharges 25 shields for 25 energy. a Small Shield booster II recharges 50 shields for 25 energy.
That was what it was like in Beta, so could have changed.
But pretty much, Tech 2 things were way better than Tech 1 stuff, there are a few Tech 2 things in right now, but very rare. _______________________________________________

Let's put it this way, according to a few of the databases up tech 2 is about 5-10% better than tech 1.
Looking at 250mm railguns:
250mm Railgun II Base Price 19584 Activation Cost 19 Energy hp 20 Powergrid Requirement 300 MW Capacity 2 m3 CPU Requirement 50 tf Rate of fire 6.00000 Optimal Range 22000 m Charge Rate 1 targetModule 0 accuracyBonus 0 Damage Modifier 2.75 Charge Size Medium Accuracy Falloff 11000 m Trackingspeed / Accuracy 0.03 Primary Skill required Medium Hybrid Turret Secondary Skill required Gunnery requiredSkill1Level 2 requiredSkill2Level 3 Tech Level 2
250mm Railgun I Base Price 150000 Activation Cost 19 Energy hp 20 Powergrid Requirement 280 MW Capacity 2 m3 CPU Requirement 50 tf Rate of fire 6.00000 Optimal Range 20000 m Charge Rate 1 targetModule 0 accuracyBonus 0 Damage Modifier 2.5 Charge Size Medium Accuracy Falloff 10000 m Trackingspeed / Accuracy 0.0075 Primary Skill required Medium Hybrid Turret Secondary Skill required Gunnery requiredSkill1Level 1 requiredSkill2Level 3 Tech Level 1
Draw your own conclusions.

Any truth to the rumour that you'll need lots of biomass for the best weapons?

tech level 2 ships will even have different textures and in some cases even slightly different models.

Tech5 stuff will apparently require biomass.
Not entirely sure why, unless a gun is more effective with a kidney in it. .

According to the devs these are just 'mislabled' tech I stuff. No 'official' tech 2 is available yet. .

According to the current patchlog, those items are misslabeled and will be corrected.

I'd suspect it might be a wee bit more effective to build electronics which drive such guns basing on stuff like brains rather than silicone... o.O

I know where I'd like to see more use of silicone.
Anyone know when implants become active?

"I know where I'd like to see more use of silicone.

*laughs* 'tis mayhaps be an option for MWD-lacking battleship- and large industrial vessel captains, but believe me Mr.Calvert, for some of those who enjoy the smaller and more agile ships the experience can get quite irritating sometimes already... :s *winks*

... would say felt more like the usual bare-level and raunchy kind of gutter o.o not that am complaining, high level skills can come long way to make up for any possible technical shortcomings... :s
