Are Survey Network upgrades in 0.0/Sov space useless? If the SN only *barely* (from reports, it has zero effect) increases the chances of an in-system mini-profession site spawn, then the upgrade is practically not worth it.
The reason for this is that Combat and Ore sites are directly affected by upgrades, and it is an in-system and visible increase in opportunities. Combat sites respawn practically immediately when finished. Ore sites respawn when finished. Mini-prof sites d o not. They respawn elsewhere in the /region/, which makes the SN a worthless upgrade.
Either change the mechanic of the Survey Networks to increase 1) in-system or neighboring system site spawn rates, or 2) increase the yield of the site. |

They know that this mechanic has been broken for years. They may get around to fixing it some day if they can come up with a mechanism that would work ... do what they desire ... but not increase the number of profession sites spawning ... which is the real issue.
The pirate upgrades spawn more anomalies in the system they are installed.
The profession site upgrades increase the probability of a site spawning in that system. Unfortunately, this is pretty meaningless. Assume the upgrade doubles the chances of having a profession site ... then in a region with 50 systems ... the chances of a spawn just went to 2/51 from 1/50. With a limited number of spawns this will be hard to notice. However, the problem is that the upgrade mechanics are competitive. (I don't have hard evidence that this is how it works but it fits the observations ...) ... lets say every region in the system is upgraded ... everyone has a doubled probability but then if the number of spawns is constant the probability has gone to 2/100 for each system or 1/50 ... upgrading every system restores the original odds.
It is simply a broken mechanic that one day CCP may get around to fixing.
P.S. I haven't lived in 0.0 for a while now ... so this may have been addressed but I haven't seen any posts indicating that the mechanic had been changed. |

Thanks for the insight.
If an Alliance or Corp spends the money to build out Sovereignty the way that it was written in the documentation, then it should work as advertised, I think.
If the module doesn't work, then decomm the mechanic and the documentation, refund the alliance/owners the money.
That, or change the mechanic so that if an Sov holder is the one doing the anom, grant them a +X% chance of better loot from the site in that system. |
