Might be better off sending the Gm's a "ask question" thing (if its working) to get a def answer on this othrwise your likely to just get peoples opinions on it.

Edited by: Avon on 18/11/2005 14:48:40 It is probably because CCP would be unable to isolate a player by IP, which may make enforcement of legal issues complex.
I guess you should fire CCP an email explaining the situation, and seeking explicit permission.
I think the previous case was to do with connecting via a proxy (to avoid the connection issues), but it is wise of you to see how you stand on this. ______________________________________________

I think the got banned thing was the Proxy I was providing (during the network problems a while back). CCP banned the IP I was using, but it was banned because of security issues ifaik.
So you shouldn't have any problems with that, if you want to be certain just drop CCP a mail about it in advance and I'm sure it will be ok.

It's unlikely that CCP would ban more than one connection from the same IP, as there are clearly people using multiple accounts, and also people using multiple machines, and people sharing the same connection via a NAT (as happens in my flat).
I would imagine that if you fired off an e-mail to let them know you were going to have a lan party, and informed them of the IP, CCP wouldn't treat it as being suspicous.

If you're in Germany such a thing cannot happen to you, we all have dynamic IPs. So if you banned some IP, next day another guy in another street would be banned.

Nothing to worry about, Chode. There are players that log in from netcafes and the like with identical IP addresses. Now, if you and your buddies started macro-mining, then there might be trouble...

Yeah, because only Germans have dynamic IPs, and all Germans have dynamic IPs. -----------------

Me and my friends always have a least 2 Eve accounts running from on IP. Sometimes 3... and at the most 5. We've never experienced any type of problems... not even lag...ok, well, maybe some lag ************************************************ SobaKai.com... Well it just depends on your ISP philosophy here we have DHC on the cable modem so it rolls when you unplug for a while.

Hmmmmmm... is macro gate-ganking the same macro-mining? practically, it sounds like the same thing i.e. just sit and wait for hours, popping incoming ships in mere seconds. ----------------

Kieron: Does this mean I should avoid playing eve at "gaming dens" (like an internet cafe but no coffee) or internet cafes? Or at LANs? I don't want to see my account banned for some stupid stunt random_guy pulled.
