Can someone be banned for doing this? And if so, please link me to the page stating so. Or is it just another scam that if your idiotic enough to fall for your stuck with it?
NOTE: Really after the actual place it states doing it is bannable

What do you mean scam?
Scamming someone with a fake code? (Bannable)
or
The whole buying Timecodes for Isk? (Allowed)- ________________ SPACE FOR RENT Inquire Ingame |

the scamming time codes, not the buying them for ISK part.
If it is bannable *as I have been told* where is the rules stating so?

just happened to read this, and remember something like that stated. I know the people could petition to have their ISK back, but where is the rule stating you cannot perform that type of scam? As such I have been unable to find anything related to it

You can't scam GTCs because they can be sold in the forums, which automatically means they're protected.
(See the Sell Forum below)
But there was a thread someplace asking about it whether it was bannable if the "seller" never utilized the forums to advertise it, and only did it in game. But I think it is still protected because it's a real item for "sale" ________________ SPACE FOR RENT Inquire Ingame |

That still doesn't give me a rule which says so, without one, how are people *scammers and the like, despicable as they are, they are a part of the game* supposed to know you can be banned for it?
Also selling a time code that has already been used is fine, from a purely technical point of veiw, since you are paying for the code, not wether or not it has been used.
/me waits patiently for a link :D

thanks but I'm not after confirmation, I am after someone pointing me to a rules section which states its illegal *don't see how you can ban a character for not breaking the rules*

Kieron freaking posted the moderation for that thread, He's a CCP employee, that SHOULD be proof enough. Stop trying to play spacelawyer and find a loophole, there isn't one. You scam, you get smacked by the banstick, that's it.
God. If my harsh ass answer isn't good enough this time, try READING for it, or the ASK A QUESTION link off to the left. There's no offcial rule really, because it's something that's just recently become a big market. ________________ SPACE FOR RENT Inquire Ingame |

Edited by: Psycho Pathic on 22/11/2005 19:39:17 Problem: If no where says its a bannable offence and you are a scammer *since scamming is a legitimate practise in this game* and you didn't notice anything in the rules or even the EULA that states you cannot do this *since there isn't anything* and you were selling a legitimate time code *since it was a time code, just not one that was unused* then you haven't commited a bannable offence.
Since there is no official rule, and since a fair amount of players *pre that thread* believed you could be scammed without retribution, I took it up. And got my ass banned. I don't want you to agree with my choice of trade, but the simple fact is, I didn't break any rules.
As such, I have sent a petition which will no doubt be replied to soon, along with a request that since there is no such rule, my character/account be unbanned. The intention is that since I didn't even recieve warning for it *something that had I have, I would of gladly returned the damn money, whilst i enjoy scamming, I don't enjoy breaking the rules*
So i did nothing against the rules of the game, as you yourself cannot provide any evidence. Please note I got banned after that thread had been moderated, and so there was NO WAY I could of known *especilly since plenty of players till then thought you couldn't be punished if you were gullible enough to do it*
Anyway, feel free to flame me all you like I will be back to my scamming self soon, *hopefully*
Psycho

I don't flame. I let people's actions and statements stand for themselves.

know you by noticing threads, and thats about it.
I'm Psycho there as well, only difference is I'm kinda a good guy there, shocking I know.
Here I like pushing the boundaries, and i almost always give my scammed stuff back, its just like pranks, and its more the fact that I got away with it//peoples gullibility *how can you fall for an escrow that says BPC Vindicator and inside sells something different* that amazes me to this day, and it STILL amazes me to this day the amount of players who fall for it when I'm a known scammer *shrugs*
besides, it teaches the newbies a valuable lesson... buyer beware *shrugs* I'm not trying to justify what i do, just making note of it is all

True enough.
I'm a cheap bastard, so I watch products like a hawk. I'm also naturally paranoid about other players and trading, etc. I've read so many great (and inspiring oddly) scams that were pulled off and that's actually what got me into EVE. ________________ <- Hates Whiners and people with generally crappy attitudes. Well i have always enjoy games where you can actually liberate your 'darker' side, this is definetly one of them. My ownly distaste for the game is its lack of 'set ruleset' you can get banned for 'this this and this' type thing, can be tough being evil.
But there are some beautiful scams out there in EVE, hell one guy I was in the middle of scamming, turned around and scammed me right back, needless to say I was very shocked

When CCP legitimized it, in the thread where they announced it, players asked whether it was bannable to scam. And they said yes. - Proud member of the [23].
