So, I have begun running these but I am typically not finding DED sites. So, I expect I am doing it wrong and could use some help. None of the guides I have found really define information I am looking for (or I am just missing it), so please bear with my quesitons.
I have my training at 3's and 4's generally (for scanning).
I am using either a T1 core probe scanner or a Sisters scanner with basic scan probes.
I can easily scan down wormholes and base combat sites but rarely find DED sites.
So, is it just that they are rare or do I need to change something in how I am doing it (better mods, training) so that I can actually scan these down?
Are there cosmic anomalies that do not show up until they are scanned properly?
Sorry, I just have no clue what I am missing to get into 3/10 and 4/10 sites. Most of what I am finding are hideouts and such and the occasional 2/10.
Can someone point me in the right direction? |

All cosmic anomalies gets automatically scanned.
Just keep on scanning until you get that 3/10 and 4/10.
Hisec 4/10s are sought after by alot of explorers. GÇ£They see me trollin', they hatin'GÇ¥ |

3/10 and 4/10 are pretty strong signals (compared to many (former) radar sites and others). They are just very rare because everyone is after them. |

Cosmic Anomalies are not Cosmic Signatures.
DED sites are Cosmic Signatures. You need probes to find them. Life is short and dinner time is chancy Eat dessert first! |

They are in fact rare. Wormholes are the most common, they are the vermin of the sky. If you keep the solar system map open when you enter a new system every anomaly will show on the map as a green dot and every signature will show as a red sphere. No exceptions. http://vincentoneve.wordpress.com/ |

If you happen to be in highly trafficked space (anywhere with Guristas rats, for instance) you might want to consider moving until you get faster at the whole thing. Guristas high is still absolutely full of highly experienced, very fast explorers scraping for c-type invulns/boosters. The fact that they can't fly Tengus anymore changes absolutely nothing. |

Yea, I moved to a 0.5/0.6 lower population area (typically 8-12 people in system) to increase my odds. I of course trained for the Tengu just before they got kicked out of this, so I am using HAC's. I am on in the evening US TZ, so these have been farmed all day by the time I am on - I expect all this contributes to me having trouble finding them.
As far as the probes comment goes - I am using Core Scanner Probes - should I be using something different? |

Eh. Maybe. Sigs respawn all day, so you're actually just as likely to find them in an out of the way place at any time of day. If they clump anywhere it will be places like high sec islands.

Nope, you're fine. Unless you wanted to upgrade to Sisters (or RSS for whatever reason). |

Everyone and their grandmother is currently doing or trying to do them. Before most were discouraged by the decent number of tengus doing them but NOW everyone started doing them thinking it's fair game but in doing so the actual number of explorers doing them doubled or tripled(from personal experience). That's why you can't find any , use dotlan and go in more remote areas and you should find a few Also consider getting sister probes(cheap and must have) or even RSS probes as you can't lose them now so it's a safe investment(not really worth it but they help a little more) |

The combat sites are more enjoyable than the stock missions, and loot can be much better. I am continuing to try to find lower and lower use systems. I probably need to head out to the edges of HS to find more vacant locations.
I will give the Sisters probes a try. TBH, scanning rarely takes mroe than 3 or 4 passes even with the cheap stuff. |
