Adhd has nothing to do with it but thanks for the tip, why would anyone ever ask for an email client to auto save a draft every few minutes. |

Force of habbit I'm guessing? I always send messages when I am docked so have no need to close. However, if I have the fitting window open I tend to close the market due to force of habbit after I buy something and look at my fitting screen. I bash my head against my wall (metaphorically) everytime... It's human nature to want to explore. To find your line and go beyond it. The only limit, is the one you set yourself. |

Most of the time I accidently close it I'm either trying to minimize the window, roll it up so only the title bar is showing, or I have it stacked with another window. Its a circa 1990's email client feature its 2013 I'm surprised that people are against such a small request.
But hey thanks for all the insightful comments about it. All of you are obvious masters of the in game email client and have never ever once accidently closed a window. Either that or none of you except Hessian know what accidently means...

The following excerpt is from Cambridge Guide to English Usage by Pam Peters (Macquarie University) [first published 2004].
"Accidentally or accidently
The second and shorter spelling is not obsolete as Oxford Dictionary (1989) claims. Databases show its currency, with a score of British examples in the BNC and almost 100 American ones in CCAE. These numbers suggest that accidently is somewhat commoner in American English, and its relative frequency vis-a-vis accidentally confirms it: about 1:15 in American data, whereas it's 1:28 in the British data. Accidently is sometimes regarded as a spelling mistake or malformation, but its pedigree is obscured by the fact that accident was once an adjective, from which it could derived quite regularly. Common pronunciation of the word (with stress on the first syllable) also supports the shorter form. This is not to say we should prefer it to accidentally: rather that it cannot be dismissed as a solecism."
No, still not misspelled. It just depends on which side of the pond you were educated on. The same with your spelling of bastardization.
But really this isn't a spelling contest. Can we get back to the topic of discussion now? |

Since I made it up at 4am by combining accidently and ing no I cannot as it only appears in the dictionary in my head and I can assure you it is full of only bad, nay terrible english. I would hope that a person of even average intelligence could find the root word and go from there, but alas apparently my hopes for them are to high.
And I most assuredly did not miss the point, you said I had misspelled accidently to which I showed I in fact had not. Whether or not I used the "proper" form of the word I care not to debate.
Now if you care to comment on the merits of my requested feature; an auto save draft function to be added to the in game email client, I would be most happy to converse with you about it.

Let me make it easy for you to understand
Accidentlying is not a word.
Accidentally or accidently are both words.
Your high and mighty attitude towards it and your refusal to admit you are wrong to the point of attempting to change the subject are indictive of narcissism
As is trying to make a huge deal out of the fact that you feel CCP is in some way responsible for your inability to keep a window open without closing it while you are writing in it.

Are you being obtuse on purpose?
Since you cut out the relative part I added it back in and bolded it. I am perfectly aware of the status of the words and non-words I used but it does seem like you are having some trouble understanding that I am already aware of this fact. I have freely admitted that the word I used was not a real word (again see bolded part of quote).
I have not once in this thread tried "to make a huge deal out of " accidently closing the new mail window. I have however brought up an issue that any standard email client since circa the 1990's has already solved and asked if we could be graced with such a function in our email client. I have also explained several ways that I accidently close the new mail window which you have ignored to continue your attack on my spelling and word use. Which by the way is indicative that you really have no argument and are just grasping at straws.
Further more I have made no attempts to "change the subject" as the subject is clearly defined in the thread title. I have however made several attempts to bring the thread back on topic to which you refuse to do.
So again if you care to comment on the merits of my requested feature; an auto save draft function to be added to the in game email client, I would be most happy to converse with you about it. If you do not care to comment on the merits of the requested feature I kindly ask that you move along to another thread as there is nothing in this one for you comment any further on.

Wow, you really ARE self-important are you?
You are NOT the High Lord Protector of Forums so I shall comment on whatever I damn well please thank you very much
But in order to salve your ego I'll engage with your ideas about a "feature" (again)
It is not necessary. If you have an issue pressing "x" instead of "send", the issue lies beyond wasting resources placing more caching effort to temporarily remember your EvE mails
Even if your idea has merit, you are posting in the wrong forum.

Your right you can post anywhere you feel like but continued derailment of the thread after being politely asked several times to stop could possibly garner someone are warning or harsher punishment from the mods and I was only thinking of your continued free posting privileges when I asked that you move along if you were not going to comment on the topic.

Can't see where I've tried to derail it but if you think you have been in anyway polite with how you talk to people you need a serious ettiquette lesson.
Generally being demanding and stating that people should do as you say is not considered polite.
And while you have finished writing an email that needs to be written, try pressing the "send" button and not the "x" button and then you may find that you don't need to ask stupid questions in the wrong forum, sweetie xx " Ramona McCandless, you're my hero." - Domanique Altares, Rifterlings, Point Blank Alliance

Well we've spent the better part of a few hours debating the merits of my word use and not debating the merits of the requested feature. If thats not a derailment then I don't know what is.
If you could please be so kind as to show me where I have demanded anything of anyone it would be much appreciated. I have asked that we stick to the topic at hand so as to not derail the thread. If you find that as being impolite I really do not know how to respond.
Please rest assured that when I am ready to send the mail I have no issues pressing send over the X to close the window. The problem I run into is when I have nested the new mail window inside another window and am attempting to in fact close the other window. The other times I accidently close the new mail window is when I have mis-clicked the title bar while attempting to roll the window up or minimize it. All of of which I explained above but repeat again here as they seem to have been lost in our debate of word use and spelling.
As far as wrote/written I will refer you to the already established fact that my inter-dictionary is filled with terrible english. |

There's a thing called notepad....been a part of Windows for IDK, since version 3.1 or earlier.....It's exactly like the mail client in Eve.....no spell check, basic formatting...but you can save what you type......use it for those long mails....mmm'kay? HTFU!...for the children! |

Your solution is to use 3rd party software that still doesn't address the issue. Notepad doesn't auto save a draft every few minutes like Outlook or any other email client has since the 90's.
Hell even the forums we're using have an auto save draft feature so no notepad will not do, but thanks for the response.
