i've avoided PVP, but really want to give it a shot.
I have pretty much the choice of ships and skills, but want to keep the cost around 300m per ship with just T2 fittings, no faction mods.
I don't know what I am doing really much at all like most who just start out, but would like to at least start with something that doesn't die just going into low sec automatically.
I was thinking
Cynabal and Cerberus
I've done the battleclinic lookups, but any fitting options for this very small gang would be helpful.
Thanks.
PS.. also in low sec, what's the best way to try and save your POD when you lose. |

I can only say if u chose to bring those ships out , specially as a newcommer to pvp .. u will A) lose em or B) will not find fights cause no one in theyr right mind will engage either a cynabal or a cerberus solo .. they will bring a gang or a bigger/better ship
Try to use something cheap and preferably somethin people will engage becaue the key thing is not to show people u have the advantage , is to make them think they have the advantage so its worth it for them to engage u , specially if u dual box then surprise surprise !
Join fw , get in a plex with a well tanked frig , w8 for someone to come and engage , web scram then bring ur alt in with a cruiser to get the job done . Thats how some people do it , or just get an off grid booster like ALL are doing lol
As for the pod , just spam warp sun/stargate when u see ur about to die .. easy
Good luck ;) |

Heh, I hate to spread this kind of garbage, but I hate being dishonest even more.
ECM ship+any other ship in the game, even Ibis=win. It's cheap, it's obnoxious, it's like having a train run on you with your hands tied to your ankles, but it works. |

Learn to PvP in T1 frigs and T1 dessies, if you are crazy space rich perhaps T1 cruisers. You are going to lose a lot of ships when you start out. When you lose 5,6,7,15 ships a night, it gets pretty costly at 300mil per ship. Also learning to PvP in frigs will make you a better PvP'er, it sharpens your skills much better. Someone who learns to PvP in a frig can also fly in cruiser, BC, BS, and capital gangs (assuming they have the SP), but the inverse is not true. Fly your entire carreer in big stuff then come to low-sec and try frig combat and you will get annihilated; just look at all the 0.0 entities that join FW and get curb stomped. Frig combat is fast paced and you have 1/10th of a second to make decisions instead of multiple seconds in bigger ships. Frig combat is also much less forgiving if you make a mistake, a single mistake can be the difference between win or lose. In a frig or dessy you are also much more likely to find solo combatants that are not going to run the second you get on grid.
As for getting your pod out it's pretty easy, there are no bubbles and pods insta warp. Soon as you go down warp to a random celestial, soon as you land warp somewhere else. Do not just warp to your exit gate and expect to immediatly jump out, remember you will probably have a 60sec aggression timer from the fight you just lost. Spend that 60sec warping around the system. If you warp right after ship lost to your exit gate you will be stuck sitting there for 30sec or so waiting for your timer, which is plenty of time for your enemy to show up and pod you. |

Ok, I will likely get the bashing for this one.... but how about
Two Hawks? or maybe one hawk and then an ECM equal... They are pretty cheap and as often as I will do it, I will never run out of ISK to buy more. I think I already have a few dozen of them laying around , cause I like to do level 4's in them... fun to fly.
I love the ship and both my main toons have perfect skills for them.
would people engage a hawk...?
more over, the idea of PVP is sort of a two purpose thing... 1) to be able to visit other areas of EVE LOW/Null/wormholes that are PVP related. 2) don't get completely owned.
Thanks for the advice. |

Get ISboxer and fly blaster corms. They are mobile, cheap and damaging. You can lose 100s of them with a 600 mil budget. SCHALAC HAS SPOKEN!! http://eveboard.com/pilot/Schalac |

Dual boxing in pvp is a pain at 1st. Takes a lot longer to get good at than most expect.
To ease into it I recommend one toon does the shooting and the 2nd one for ECM as it is very easy to manage one combat and one ECM.
Never dualbox 2 x very fast ships. One just ends up 300km away or dead while you manage the other one. Fix this **** See Sea Pea. |

one to use gang booster links, example loki with skirmish links, and cynabal for actual pvp
best solution for 2 char multiboxing. |

Or you could just take an ECM ship and turn it into an attack HULL with ECM. See I melded both concepts and you only have to use one character. I AM THE WEAVER! ALL SHALL PAY HOMAGE TO ME! Elite Forum Warrior. |

I've had really good luck with the combination of a prober falcon and a vagabond. Made some spectacular kills in it and had some spectacular bloopers too.
Prober bonus loki with a stabber would be good in low-sec too. Stabber is a good ship because it has a bonus to tracking and in low-sec you'll find a lot of small stuff so tracking is good..... it's actually a more useful ship for PVP than the vagabond, tbh and having a loki up your sleeve isn't a bad idea.
You do need to have your clicky skills with these ships though becuase you can't just F1-and-orbit with these.
"prober" is important. a lot of people in low-sec fly small stuff and they'll high-tail it out of there if they see you in anything too big. Getting a fight in bigger ships sometimes requires a LOT of patience and trying probe out mission runners. What I often did was hang around gangs and try to get in on a 3-way or pick off stragglers.

Once you're sure that nothing you can do is going to change your fate then select a station from the overview and start spamming "dock" . The moment your ship dies you'll warp there and dock up. Normally I do the same but with a celestial so I can make a safe spot if I don't already have one and then warp back to the safe. That way you can't get camped in

OP I'd suggest a booster toon and then a cyna. A falcon + any other ship in the game is also not a bad choice both are over powered and either will make you win more fights and **** people off |

Thanks all for replies.... it really helps!
I'm getting the vibe that although it's a bit of a "harsh" play style that the Falcon ECM and DPS Dealer would give the best odds for messing around once in a while....
I'm assuming just have the Falcon Cloaked .... until battle.... or to at least help get away if I totally blow it... which is most likely |
