So yeah, I finished the tutorial. The I finished all of the Career Agent questlines.
Ready to go do some exploration and make some ISK. I head out in my newly fitted Imicus, with all the lowbie scanning equipment to scan down some stuff and find some lewts. Figured I'd start in .9 space, one jump from where I did the tutorials at, just to kinda get my feet wet, so to speak.
First thing I manage to successfully scan down that wasn't a training site..I warp to it, and it's a Wormhole.
I'm like "oh ****....do I go in? "
Yes. Yes, I go in.
so I hit the other side and....it's quiet. a little too quiet. like "Horror Movie, right before the blond chick dies gruesomely" quiet.
I fly around or a bit taking a look around. I guess I got too close to a combat area, because I suddenly found myself down to my hull in roughly 3.5 seconds.
I panic-warp back to the wormhole (thankfully someone in help chat gave me the helpful hint to bookmark both sides of the wormhole), and run back to hi-sec in my hull-on-fire-and-smoking Imicus.
overall, a pretty neat, hearing the reputation that WH Space and Nullsec have, going into a Wormhole blind, fresh outta tutorial, not knowing what to expect...it's a pretty heart-pounding thing. |

Sleepers hit hard, and they hit with all types of damage simultaneously. You got out in one piece which is bloody impressive for a newbie . You were given some good advice about bookmarking, many forget to bookmark their exit.
If you fancy a challenge then wormholes will definitely provide it, the PvE is fairly tough, the PvP is tougher still as it requires a whole new level of tactics/ knowledge to be successful.
If you find yourself interested in wormholes then the subforum would be a good place to start as they have their own separate lore and traditions, the least of which is honouring Bob, the god of all that is wormholes.

Wormholes are very scary if you don't know what you're doing.
No local, no stations and many things who can and will kill you.

learning how to do this is one of the most underused and powerful skills in eve and it's something wormhole dwellers absolutely rely on.
Also you don't have much to do in wormholes as a newer player apart from ninja gas mining, so try and stay away from them for a while ;) |

Being a wh'er myself I can tell you when some one who does not know or understand wh mechanics they are scary but when you learn how to survive or even live in them it is the most free and exciting places to live. If you have questions about the you are welcome to contact me and ask. Always willing to help all you have to do is ask, though if your in the other fleet I may not help the way you want. Just a heads up. |

I have to second this. I don't live in a Wh as such, but often raid into them for high end ore. I actually find something tranquil about them. Yes, you have to be 'on the ball' and keep talking to your best friend Mr D-Scan.
A lot of folk don't like the idea of no local. But they also forget that it works both ways, anybody who might want to kill you has to find you first, and may be be faced with spending time hunting an empty system.
WH's are very Marmite, as we say in the UK, if you enjoy them, and can get used to thier dangers and ways, they can be great fun, and very lucrative. |

Sounds like deep space made quite an impression! Good ****
Meter your approach, as has been said, until you're skilled and equipped to survive properly in w-space, but don't stop exploring! OOPE Pinup Calender application thread -á -- -á Wormhole Diary -á-- -áBio |

I tried to do gas mining in WH twice...
The first time I died to something very fast, I think it was a torpedo but I was podded before I could see what it was.
The second I tried to go in with a single friend to secure the sites from NPCs for me to mine. We warped to a "safe spot" but we arrived at a bubble and A LOT of drones. There were like 20 drones and two ships, I don't even know if that is possible to command but I swear it.
I warped back and exited the WH but my friend forgot to bookmark, so I had to go back in for him to warp at me. He got tackled and I've died as soon as I got out of cloak, trying to reach the WH to go back again.
That was the biggest thrill I've felt playing so far, and I hope it doesn't go away when I get used to PVP. Wormholes are indeed scary to new players. I was pretty surprised to see a system with a negative security status, didn't knew it was possible too. |

Keep going. Maybe talk with some of the WH corporations. You'll get the hang of it. Wormholes have the best accoustics. It's known. - Sing it for me - |
