So I was floating in a noobie system the other week when a guy started asking some questions about new characters yada yada yada.
He tried to transfer all his cash from one character to another by selling the old one via the market 1 trit at 19 million isk (All his cash). Now the market working the way it does sold him the cheapest trit in that station at the time for 19 mil (and a very useful mechanic this is).
Now it's a very long time since I've used a trial account, was there another way he could have transferred all his cash? Like the normal ways, contract / "give money"?
He logged before I got chance to say i'll just give you 19 mil, he has not yet returned.
No I will not be giving hand me downs of 19 mil. |

Trial accounts can't contract/give money.
His approach works in theory. You have to go to an isolated station where there's no -whatever- for sale. Nullsec works well for this.
Selling something obscure like a storyline module makes it easier.
Though the only real reason to do this is to transfer money between trial accounts, which means CCP didn't really lose a customer, just someone trying to mooch off the system. Incarna from 2009. 3 Years later and what we have doesn't look half as good as this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n41s1Iox18A |

Probably would of been best if he just contracted the money directly to the other toon instead of putting it on the market..
LOL not a big deal. Mistakes happen and people who rage easily in games probably shouldnt play because there are far.. far far worse thing that can happen in Eve.

I doubt he would have even subscribed anyway.
If that already made him rage-quit. I can only imagine what would have ended up on the forums if he lost something more significant

My main point is why have the restriction? is it REALLY that necessary? From his point of view, as he was giving the trial a second chance I'd say he might have subbed had his plan worked. Not much but $10 to CCP. I reckon they missed out simply because of restrictions on trial account.
As above states its all very well knowing 20 mil isnt a lot......once you've played for a while. Because it takes the time to learn how to make it quickly. Like I say I was gonna throw him his loss because I know it's not much knowing he might not even continue playing.
I even suggested he get in touch with the lucky lucky boy who sold 1 trit for 19 mil but said it was unlikely they'd care. |

Had that happen to me a few months ago. I was selling dual diode mining lasers for about 24k isk each. Some guys put one up for 44 mill and tried to buy it. I got the 44 mill along with an incomprehensible rage letter. English wasn't his primary language so I couldn't really understand what he was trying to say, although I knew he was mad lol. I was going to offer some of it back, and keep some because it was his error and he needs to learn, but he put a 111,111 bounty on me. So I'm like fine, not going to be generous at all since you're going to go that route. I took 5m of his 44m he gave me and put a bounty on him and lol'd |

The point of the restrictions is two fold one is to give an incentive to actually pay for the game. The second is to prevent people from endlessly creating trials and transferring funds and assets to accounts from the tutorials. Always willing to help all you have to do is ask, though if your in the other fleet I may not help the way you want. Just a heads up. |

This.
And removing the money transfer restrictions on trials opens a huge can of worms when it comes to money laundering and RMT. CCP Eterne: Silly player, ALL devs are evil. CCP Fozzie: When Veritas describes a programming challenge as "very hard" I tend to believe him.

When the special edition faction T1 exploration frigates were first released they were selling at very high prices and I had a Vherokior Probe that I wanted to sell for 17,500,000 ISK but I made the noobish error of putting it up for 17,500. I sent the buyer a good-humoured congratulatory Eve-mail without any real expectation of getting a response, let alone any compensation, but a day later I received a very friendly reply from him saying he had contracted me a Sarum Magnate for the same price he had paid for the Probe. |

I love how these people jump all over you for talking like a nice person - could you please stop your overt displays of being nice in forums please? It is not pleasing to the agenda. Though their points are valid for restricting trial accounts transfers of money, the market mechanic sounds pretty bizarre. Why should you allow people to pay more or less than any particular sell order? "Does the Eagle know what is in the pit, Or wilt thou go ask the Mole? Can Wisdom be put in a silver rod, Or Love in a golden bowl?"-á"Above all, you can believe in Providence in either of two ways, either as thirst believes in the orange, or as the ass believes in the whip." |

on the other hand, you could do the SoE mission questline, pick gallente and get that drone thing and sell it for 200 mil
I'd say 200 mil for 2 days of work is pretty good. Especially if you can just create another trial and repeat the process. You'd be able to plex an account every 4 days :O |

If you're thinking about the Black Eagle Drone Link Augmenter, that doesn't come from the Sisters of Eve arc. It comes from the Gallente epic arc "Penumbra". All co-operating with the Gallente commander in the Sisters of Eve arc gets you is Gallente faction standings.

Did you know that anyone, given enough ISK, can make billions on the market with simple trading?
If trial accounts could give money that guy could overlap trial accounts having the one that's about to expire transferring all of his ISK to the new one he just made, and then using said ISK to do more market trading again.
All you need to market trade is some starting capital. The Drake is a Lie |

Why should you allow people to pay more or less than any particular sell order? The market works like that so that if you want to buy 10,000 Void L at the station you are in, but each sell order is for 1 Void L, you can elect to purchase 10,000 at the highest priced one and the market will buy you 10,000 starting with the CHEAPEST but giving the seller the amount you elected to pay. So you don't have to right click and choose "buy" 10,000 times. |

As for the other response of a market trader trading for free (only using trials). Restrict trial accounts by IP address, appeal-able should the person at said IP address feel hard done by. And if they have their start capital and make all this isk you speak of, wouldn't it be easier to plex? since they have so much isk.
