So apparently the Thorax is the Cold War win button. What's everyone's thoughts for the next win button ship? ------------------------------------ Shadrin Gemini Investment and Trading Company Making your money work for you.

No such thing as a win button, every ship & setup is counterable by another.

Titan. I've been one-shotted at least 10 times by Tomb's superweapon on SiSi.
In truth, the real win button is a shield-tanked dominix with tech II heavy drones and 5 drone control mods. It does something along the lines of the same DPS as 30 heavy drones on TQ inflict currently despite its lack of onboard weapons.
Also, a 3-rep vampadom or shield-tanked vampadom will be very difficult to kill.
Oh, and it takes at least 8 large smartbombs (or cycles of a single) to kill heavy dones post RMR, so smartbombs are no defense. :P -Wrayeth

I agree. Ravens seem a bit uber on test, and that's without even the new torps. -omg-

Heh...my raven gets owned by the domi setup I mentioned above, unless the domi is using berserkers (my raven's resists are 54/81/72/63, with an XL C5L + boost amp for its tank).
As for the new torps, the "anti-ship torpedos" inflict a lot of base damage, but are only useful against capital ships and structures due to the explosion radius of 1000 (same as citadels). They also decrease cap recharge due to the need to divert power to the engines to stabilize the ship while firing.
The other new torp, "long range torpedos" are the exact same as normal torpedos, but with the velocity of cruise missiles. These reduce the raven's max velocity while in the tubes.
Neither of these will help a raven vs. a dominix if it's in drone range. -Wrayeth

Not sure of the exact number, plus skills. I may have exaggerated a bit, but I'm 100% certain it's at least 6 smartbombs to kill them. I *think* it was 8, but I was trying not to die at the time and couldn't focus 100% on how many times I activated my two named smartbombs. -Wrayeth

Oh, forgot to list the ECM domi - that owns all, as well, and doesn't have that inconvenient drawback of taking two years to kill anything like the scorpion does. -Wrayeth

An alliance mate got 2 pics on SiSi using his appoc on but he was able to survive the doomsday device with it getting hits for like 27k and 20k of dmg.
Thats just make a BS rdy to be ripped with any other snipper near.(dmg controls 4tw)

its entirely possible to survive that. if you didn't notice, most of the BSs survived after the superweapon had gone off a few times. extender based passive tank 4tw

how about 7 1600mm plates and a large rep or 7 bulkheads and a damage control, not very practical but would probly do the job.
passive sheild 4tw tho when tanking doomsday weapons
I think tech2 ammo will be the new i win.

Ravens are going to be pretty uber. On SiSi, I've beend shot at by 3 BS, two of them being Tempests and they couldn't break my tank ( I started breaking theirs)
I've been engaged by an ecm Domi (it had Nos too). Tanked it, killed all of its drone waves with my FoF's, it warped out. Lessons learned = Cap booster and Invuln Fields for teh win.

Nighthawk looks nasty.
6 Heavy missile launchers. It gets the Ferox's 25% bonus to all shield resistances. So throw a Damage Control 2 in the low, and the only hardner you will need is EM for very good resistances. Thow in one Booster, and you get the other 3 mid slots for Sensor Dampers/Tracking Disrupters.
Actually, Vulture looks even worse. Two 10% bonus to optimal Range, 25% bonus to all resistances, and 6 medium slots, leaving you 4 mediums free to play around with. So fully trained up, and with sharpshooter 5, you get a total of 125% bonus to Optimal Range. Use Antimatter, and a 250MM Rail 1, your optimal will be 42 KM.

Btw, the two times I used my artillery Tempest on SiSi (Minm. BS 5, L. Arti. Spec. 4, don't have L. AC. Spec. on SiSi), I got pwned by ECM (nearly everyone fitted at least 1 multispec) and close range ships.
Lesson = either go with ACs (and you still won't be able to hit sh*t when jammed) and a so-so tank, or train Caldari skills and have a fighting chance with FoF and a HEAVY tank ( cap booster + nice resistances across the board). Glad I have lvl 4 in all the relevant skills in the latter case.

actual "monster" ships will be useless (see thorax, deimos and megathron for example......)

Tell that to Mega vs Raven. kthxbye.
IMO, Cerb will be awesome for NPC in RMR, with the changes to HMLs and T2 missiles. BS-wise, Apoc will be the king of tank hands down, you may actually need several BS to just penetrate its dual large AR tank with the reduced dmg from dmg mod nerf. Ishtar is still good with "damn this drone is so fckn hard to kill" style. Mmm...Can't think of much else atm.

The Amarr fighter has 2500 in armour before skills.
The Ogre II (toughest heavy drone) has 1776 structure hitpoints with max Drone Durability. I'm not sure what hitpoints the Dominix/Ishtar/Arbitrator increases, but if it increases all, then the total hitpoints'll be 3931 hitpoints with max skills.
At current or one or two Sisi builds ago.
Apparently, when there's new patch notes I sound like I'm 4 years old on christmas EVE on TS. |
