For the past few years people have been complaining about the lack of a good fleet ship, more so a fleet battleship for Gallente. There are many fleet battleship doctrines out there; Abaddons, Maelstrom Alpha Fleet, Blaster/Rail Rokhs, Navy Apocs, Navy Geddons. But never really a good one for Gallente (except maybe Sentry Dominix's). Gallente were mostly seen as a solo or small gang warfare race. One can argue though, that any fleet comp is successful in the hands of the right FC, making the right decisions, and consisting of the right pilots. And they would be right. Any weapon in the right hands is deadly.
With the last few expansion and patches, it seems that Gallente have risen from the ashes, and now have potentially some of the best ships and fleet doctrines in game now. The Megathron now has an extra lowslot for more tank and fitting options. The The Moros is king of sieging structures and quite possibly the best blap dread. I've played on the test server dualboxing two Moros' with the same skills and fits, and they just own everything. The Onerios is the Scimitar for armour fleets. With the ability to repair ships and burn around without the need for a cap chain. The Talos and Hyperion are some of the best solo ships in game. I feel I don't really need to describe them though.
Lastly, screw your Scorpion, I have a Celestis. Over 70% Targeting Range/Speed dampening that works 100% of the time under 100km+ optimal. Why would I use ECM that's chance based on a Scorpion, when I have a definate chance to reduce the target's lock range? Maybe it's a bit overpowered. Maybe it's ******* wicked! One of the fleet battle reports I saw on evekill from Fountain had 190 Celestis in it. 190 Celestis. That's right. You could damp down the target range of so many enemy ships it's rediculous. Almost the entire fleet. One damp on a ship that has 100km lock range will be reduced to 30km lock range, just outside of point range. This probably isn't new to anyone as CFC have been using them alot in their fleets.
A Gallente fleet comp sounds pretty deadly: Rail MegaT's with 500+ DPS and 211k EHP; Celestis with 70+% Dampening Power; Oneiros to hold them all together; Legion links boosting all the armour stats; Proteus boosting the Celestis EWAR stats; Loki links boosting Oneiros and Celestis Skirmish stats for AB/Sig tanking.
I love the Megathron. It's so iconic, and good to see it come back as a fleet ship. |

It sounds like this idea has serious potential! I sure hope somebody takes a look at it. |

It's not limiting yourself to them. It's seeing Gallente come back with a great fleet doctrine that owns. |

The doctrine would have been better with your pet Mega replaced by Abaddons. Just saying.[ Standings Improvement Service https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=19454 |

And you don't hate rail tracking. But you do hate ehp and dps.
A fleet doctrine that limits itself to only Gallante to its own detriment is unlikely to be used... Standings Improvement Service https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=19454 |

Abaddon may have more DPS, but switch to Spike and the Megathron can hit to 145km optimal + 37km falloff. |

Our main fleet doctrines are damn near straight Gallente at the moment. Abaddons have been there done that. No one is using them, go pulse and they have cap issues and require gardianss.....which means cap chains, RA was the last hanger on with the artybaddons. Beam baddon? Ever try to fit that with a tank? Oh and they are slow as hell.
A double plated Mega with boosts running touches 2km/s overheated now, does just a hair under 400dps at 100km with a 175,000 ish eHP (again with boosts) They aren't that bad., and feel free to bring out the typical fleet pulse baddon, they won't ever be able to get into range.
In fact if you roll around Fountain you see 600ish Gallente BSs at a time, N3 with Dominixs and CFC with Megas....you also see Rokhs, Ravens, Geddons, SFIs, TFIs, etc etc. |

And put 200dmg per hit on targets, past 145km it's more about 50dmg.
Not saying it's not a sexy fleet, but the best engagement range is still in AM range, and with all those hardeners to try to catch with bigger buffer fleets dps goes down the hill severely, 7 slots out of 8 just for tank modules...
welp not saying it doesn't work of course it does, stack 150 Ravens and I'm sure they will succeed too but this is not the point, the point being at 150km arty will put to pieces everything provided dumb people don't spread their guns on everything on gridd just to hoar on max km's, now with Megathrons and those same dumb players spreading guns just to hoar on KM's...
Just for the mark: Cruise raven with faction cruise missiles at maximum range will be doing around 6K alpha.
It's a very sexy fleet for sure, so much more sexy with blasters, rails are bad, horrible, terrible...unless you fit at least 3MFS in lows but then tank... *removed inappropriate ASCII art signature* - CCP Eterne |

To address the celest effect, target range is nice as far as it goes. However, the real nightmare from the celest is the resolution damp in TiDi. When you are already multiplying lock times by 10 adding any extra delay is brutal. Someone was saying during the Z9 fight it was taking folks 20+ min to lock targets. |
