i can book my left over holiday b4 or after xmas if some RMR action
which should i book (i've got 10 days to take b4 the 2nd week in JAN!)

I wouldn't advise booking time off work especially for this - it's a surefire guarantee to being one of the ones that can only get the patch at 0.01kb/s, and then have something strange and unreproducible happen to your install.

the cups half empty for you isnt it?
never had a patch download issue or a patching issue
(maybe a little server instability for a day or 2 but the hot fix fixes that)
i really just wanna know if they gonna make before Xmas or not?

it wasn't exactly the test server. it was local chat in jita (TQ) at peak-time (almost 400 people on there).
but yes, it may be subject to change

Totally agree. I would rather wait until the new year if it meant avoiding a lot of unschedueled downtimes, hotfixes, lagfest, 1001 whine threads on here and everything else that comes with a rushed release.
Take your time CCP. We CAN wait

Last I heard (yesterday from a.... rather credible source), they were shooting for the 13th, but not sure that it was a go.

there seems to be a lot of people wanting to book holidays for when the patch comes out ... surely if the patch is deployed on the 13th you want to book holidays for the 20th to avoid the lagfest bug ridden mess that is the week after a major patch
I know its cynical ... but hey, thats just my outlook on life

Why do people want to know the release date?
So they can yell and whine when its not out on that date.
Id rather they not say so when it does come out I will be pleasantly surprised. Heh some people actually don't plan their whole lives around eve sorry LOL

really? sweet, i just kinda assumed, i see you on the test server often, and I figured a dev would be more likly to show up there to impart words of hope to people then well...jita during lagtastic hours O.o

I wonder if people realize some CCP employee said it would probably be out december 5th or 6th...
I'd like it to come out next tuesday personally. I have a final the day after and I could focus on my work, knowing RMRs bugs are making it hell to play. Then when I moved my **** home from school the next day, it'd be playable, and I'd get to go try to do missions against guristas that will probably perma-jam my Harpy...
****, don't release rmr, npcing will be almost as bad as pvp!

w00t 13th would be awesome as im off then! but yeah everythings done on tuesdays. heres why...
Has to be patch and stable before Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the peak days of EVE. Cant be done on a monday due to the extreme hangovers from Friday, Saturday and Sunday. And well, patch tuesday sounds better than anything else.

How much notice will we have in order to re-arrange our LIVES to fit around the release date?

I am a former EQ player. I went through 7 or 8 expansion patches in the 6 years I played. My experience with the first couple patches taught me to NEVER EVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES play EQ on patch day. Similarly, after the first couple I stopped buying expansions on release day. By doing this I avoided all the initial deployment bugs.
I have not had this experience with Eve yet (new player only three months old), but I am intrigued by the content addition. I am willing to give CCP the benefit of the doubt on this, but in general can some of the veteran players comment on what the previous content patches were like for the customers in terms of lag, deployment, etc.? I would rather miss a day of playing instead of losing a ship and getting frustrated.
