With regards to keeping a Titan at a POS, would the ship be too large to fit in the shields? Would it make sense to keep the ship in game indefinitely, basically preventing a person from logging off in the ship?
I like the idea of being able to set a password to restrict who has access to a any ship, not just capital ships. It would make it more feasible to share ships with a select group of people in a corp, without having to restrict access to the entire hanger. hmmm...is this possible with a station vault? -- Channel "TCSyn Casino" - IGB Slots, Blackjack & Poker.

Dude, where the hell are you going to recycle a stolen titan if it can't dock and needs an outpost to construct????
How much time would you need to recycle it given that you a. do have an outpost and b. a corporation that now isnt paranoid of you after stealing that much value. "Imagination is the key that unlocks the door." - ME |

Its impossible to recycle motherships or titans. Once their built their built. You can only build them in POS modules not in stations. Kinda like Utopia Planetia Shipyards. So basically the only thing you can do with a mothership is just float it in space or around a POS they are perminate residents of space.

Damn! And here I was thinking I would be able to blow stuff up with one.
A special role for acessing Titans/motherships seems sensible though, if only to alleviate some of the paranoia.

I henceforth volunteer as independent and unbiased third party for titan and mothership sales o/
one side simply hands me the keys to the ship, and the other, the isk that's supposed to be payment... then, when i get both i simply hand the money to the former keys owner, and vice versa.

What, you can't trust j0? Fine. One side gives me the money, the other side gives her the ship. Then the 2 of us give the ship and money to the proper people...with a 2%barter fee
K?

Ask Istvaan or Kayo about how well one can really judge, if their corp mates are worthy of trust at this scale...
We have built-in security measures for blueprints which are often worth much less than these new ships. There's nothing wrong in requesting similar sort of security measures for assets costing this much.
Honestly m8. Anyone learning titan skill has already got skills worth billions from its corp / alliance (i doubt many have the isk themselves to learn such things). That alone requires immense trust.
If such a guy leaves the corp or stops playing eve, its a theft bigger than most medicore corps could ever suffer simply because they do not have that much value laying around to be stolen.
Now if said pilot also takes a titan with him.. nope. If you can't trust the person flying YOUR titan, then you should not have a titan. Trust / personal connections are the most valuable assets in this game, and CCP should not devalue them by inventing 'trust-insurance' for multi-billion ISK investments.
What should they do? By that logic, if say I steal a titan, they should take it from me and ban me for corp theft? If they do, they can start banning everyone for it. Furthermore, if i simply leave my corp with 5bils worth of titan skills in my head, and join the enemy alliance, should CCP give those skill books back to my corp and erease the skills from my head?
Nope. You can not build an insurance around something like this. Just as the old saying says: Don't stretch beyond your means.
Things like titans / motherships are not for individuals. They are meant for groups. If you can't find / train pilots the group can trust 101%, then the group is not suited for projects of this scale.
The bottom line is this:
How exactly are you going to steal something, with other people DOCKED IN IT?
You'd think there would be a few differences for a flying station.

I can see it already....a bunch of people docked inside the Titan, the pilot ejects or logs, another pilot docks with it and steals it out of a rival alliance.
New pilot drags all docked ships into friendly territory and watches as confused people undock and die. ------------------------------------ Join Channel MacroIntel! |

Use a third party.
There ARE third parties both you and RKK deal with. Note that standings wouldn't come into it for many people - it's a commercial transaction with what would likely be a substantial cut for the facilitator.
I think one soloution to the other issues is that if you log in charge of a titan, your pod gets stored and the ship becomes uncontrolled. (hehe)
